iAmiAmi or HLJ?n/a

So I have never preordered before but want to now with some figures. I was wondering who is a more trust-able site with lower costs and cheaper shipping. is AmiAmi better or Hobbylink Japan? Any advice on which to go with would be great :)

They're both fine. If you're just ordering one figure, go for HLJ with Fedex shipping; it's the best value for single items. If not, it's your call. My only advice is to use Amiami for preorders.

I think you can't consider HLJ...
if you don't wanna go with AmiAmi, go with Hobby Search.

I ordered for months on HS and sometimes I place some orders, but I'll go with AmiAmi at moment.. cause you can combine orders better! and instock items + preorder

on HS you can't ship instock items with preorders of the same month

Most of my orders are through AmiAmi and I've had no major problems with them. There were some hiccups when they first put up their new site but it seems they've fixed the problems for the most part. Their customer service usually answers within 24 hours which is really nice.

I've bought from HLJ before but only because the item wasn't available at AmiAmi. They're not bad but I'm not a fan of their packaging. The shrink wrapping items to a piece of cardboard doesn't provide for much protection. I also once had a rather big order size-wise sent to me while I was visiting in Japan and while they did use those air cushion things, the box was about 1-2 cm too small at the top and they just forced the lid closed. I was not very impressed. It's a good thing it was domestic because I'm sure the boxes inside would have been crushed if sent overseas.

My preference would be AmiAmi but HLJ isn't horrible.

PawpeeI've had trouble with them not understanding shipping changes (EMS to sal) and not replying before my payment deadline. It's not huge, as the items were still in stock when I reordered them, but I'd be upset if they were more popular things. I generally had an easier time with HLJ when I had to deal with address issues in the past too. When they go through though, amiami is perfectly fine.

That's odd since they usually reply fairly quickly if it's not after a long break. Were you mailing them like the day before your payment deadline?

ChanSo far, i think amiami is better
the only problem is the lack of possibility to change manually your orders
you have to send them an email

You're able to combine your orders and update your shipping address and payment method on their website. The only thing you would need to mail them about is if you want to split the order. (I'm hoping they'll add this feature on their site soon since it doesn't really make sense to only be able to combine.)

I've only ordered from HLJ twice but they screwed me over lol. First time I didn't realize that sometimes they don't send confirmation emails so the figure I had on pre-order almost sold out. Second time I bought just a few small supplies but they overcharged me and sent me a box 3/4 full of air, shabby plastic wrap, and my items which shifted around in transit because they weren't secure.

I've never had a problem with AmiAmi and have bought many things from them.

the shipping has been good since they adopted the registered SAL

AnachronismNoOreHmm you make it sound as though a language barrier exists for the popular figure retailers aside from HLJ(amiami, otacute, HS). I've never had any problems with them, personally speaking. Perhaps you could share your experience with us?

I would say either are good choices. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I've never had problems with either site.

AnachronismNoOreCan't say the same for myself; My back order with them just fell through.
Bad luck. What was it that you lost?

I really prefer HLJ to amiami. In my mind, they have affordable shipping, vs amiami which gives good discounts on items but their shipping seems overpriced and in the end the discount difference doesn't really matter.

I have gotten a wrong item from HLJ once, I ordered a ACE (OP) cushion but I got sent a luffy one. They sent me a free replacement, and it was the luffy one again. :| But they sent me another again! So in the end I have three cushions, lol. I like hlj. But I have heard that amiami's customer service in this aspect is pretty good too.

Generally I don't preorder so I can't say that whether HLJ is reliable or not. When I preorder, its usually from hobbysearch, and I love that site.

amiami have a large choice of shipping, their price are good but you are suspected to get custom fee because they mark it as a merchandise !

HLJ is good, their price are decent, bad thing is that there is only 3 choice of shipping, but the EMS is 20% off which means it can be useful and better, you can cancel easily too!

if i were you i would choose HLJ, but amiami have a largest product line so if you are searching for all kind of stuff go for AMiAmi :)
