Hello MFC! (very late introduction)

Good evening MFC! I just realized that I haven't made any proper diary entry and I thought I should give it a shot. It hasn't been so long since I joined, so I guess this one still counts? I've been only making reviews so far, so it seems weird that I don't post a legit blog entry/diary. :p

So anyway, let me start with my name. I'm Kevin, and my internet handles are hitagicrab27, EroMeido, and Hentai Meido Sachi. However, you can call me Naka, Hita, Senjo, Ken, Sachi, or Ero. I know, I've waaaay too many nicknames to keep track. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I live in the Midwest of the USA, specifically Chicago. Been here for 6-7 years now. It's a great city, but the snow is just... let's just say I don't like shoveling lol.

Okay, so 8 years ago, I was introduced into the world of anime by a friend. The very first anime series I watched was Ichigo 100%. I wasn't aware that the series had a manga, but even if I did, I wouldn't have cared since I really, realllly hated manga back then. Fast forward a few years after that, I introduced myself into the world of manga, thanks to my sheer impatience. I was following Medaka Box and Fairy Tail at that time, and both shows made me impatient, so I started reading their manga. That basically propelled manga into the top of my priorities. There were so many series to read! So that basically sums up my Anime/Manga life. I still do both, btw. And a few visual novels and light novels along the way. I've also been a part of a few fansub groups. So cheers to those who are cheapskates like me who prefer fansubs cuz lel no money. :p

Around the time ACen was held last year, I started buying figures. That was a time when I only had around 200 to spend probably. I wasn't working at that time, nor was I in school. That's right, I was a straight up hikikomori. I bought my first 5 prize figures there (Sonico, Kuroneko, Panty, Princess of the Crystal, and Medaka). I didn't even have a good desktop back then. Just a 17" HP laptop. And then a few months later, I got a job. I thought it was about time I help out with the family expenses (and personal, of course). So I saved up and bought myself a nice desktop, first and foremost. After that, I was already looking forward to buying figures at ACen. If I had to pick a time when I really started collecting, it'd be this year's ACen back in May.

To give you a comparison, my desktop before looked like this:

This was probably 2-3 years ago. Looked pretty boring to me when comparing to my current setup.

Now this is the picture I just took a few hours ago:

The toilet paper is there cuz I was having a really bad case of runny nose... even right now. But the lotion behind it will surely bring up a few questions... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). I still don't have anime wallscrolls or wallpapers, but I'll get there... someday.

Most of you guys definitely know how this transformation feels though, and I'm glad to say that I've finally felt it too!

Right now, I'm trying to get my shit together, starting with going to college again. It's been 6 years since I've been in a classroom. Tomorrow is going to be my comeback. I only have English and Math classes for now, but I'll get somewhere eventually.

And so that concludes today's blog entry. I still don't know what's gonna happen from now on, but whatever it is, I'll face it head on cuz that's what scrubs like me do. Till next time, MFC. Have a nice evening!

katsudon (2 years ago) #3379550You'll just have to get creative with your space, and think outside of the box- which is pretty fun. And I hope he or she is too, math is daunting enough as it is. I'm the worst Asian ever as I'm only decent at math and only like numbers in my RPGs and bank account, hahaha.

Hey, I'm asian too, but I'm not blessed with the stereotypical math skills that asians supposedly have inherently lol.

And I'll think about being creative when I get there. Right now, I'd probably just put up scrolls or posters if I find good ones.

hitagicrab27 (2 years ago) #3378830Ye, I'd probably sink into depression once i fill up my walls and i don't have any space for more. Haha. Also, thanks for the support. I was nervous at first, but thankfully my math instructor is a cool guy!

katsudon (2 years ago) #3377175It depends where in the US the snow is- if it's down south say in Texas, an inch or two of snow will be more than enough for school (and sometimes work) to be closed for a day or two, if not more. Further up north where OP is from, it has to be really, really bad condition wise in order for that to happen.
Anyways getting back on topic here... Sure your walls may look empty NOW, but soon, you'll be wishing you have more wall space to work with. And props to going back to school, it's definitely not easy I'm sure- best of luck to you man.

TiggerShark (2 years ago) #3367830Snow, huh.. I live in Finland ;). We get floods from snow melting at Spring. Is it true they can get a day off from school and planes stop and so on because of snow there, sometimes? I always wondered - here kids go to school even when the snow's piled up 1m high and the weather's -40 celcius (there is no escape~!). Luckily, we have a very good snow plowing system set in place, at least. Still makes for some nasty trips to work and uni, though.
As a sidenote, I always associate AC with Animal Crossing rather than any conventions (Finland doesn't have that many of those), and we have the same Sinon figure - been seeing that around a lot lately ;). Welcome to MFC and good luck with the cold!

Nyahello fellow Chicago collector~! Amazing collection you've got for just a lil over a year in! ACen was what got me [back] into anime as well as this not so lucrative hobby. You've got some great reviews up and a really blossoming collection. Congrats on getting back into classes, I've always found academics a top priority. Tuition first, then figure moneys hehe. You can meet a lot of new and interesting folk at university too. But of course MFC is fun for that too, how I met a lot of fellow figure collectors and anime fans in the Chicagoland area. Hope to see more blog posts from ya :3

JessicaJung (2 years ago) #3367351God, I have to go back to school tomorrow too. Now I have exam studying and additional school work. R.I.P my social life/anime for a couple months. But I will persevere and I hope you can too! The hardest part for me isn't necessarily school but sitting down and studying for a couple hours. Good luck to ya tomorrow!
Thanks, and good luck to you too! I'd probably be a nervous wreck, being away from school for a long time, but I'll try to get used to it quickly lol. Gotta pass that Math class if I want to survive. Damn it, I wish I wasn't so bad at math. >.<
