~August and September loot: Nintendo and more~

August and September loot!
Suruga-ya, AmiAmi and Amazon Japan

Warning! This post will be image heavy!

======================================================================

Hello MFC! (*・ω・)ノ It is I again, back with another loot post! I finally finished my final art assignment for the year and I can safely say that I never ever want to draw something ever again, now that I am free from the charcoal flaked grips of art teachers. So that's why this is a really belated loot post. My October shipments have already started arriving lol.

Anyway, these two month's loot post will have a few figures as well as the usual haul of goods and merchandise! I've also made a vow to stop buying from sites that need proxies OR forwarders until the end of the year, but I wonder how long that'll last. Really I blame Yahoo! Auctions and Suruga-ya, the main culprits. Saw a really nice doujinshi I've been wanting for a year the other day for cheap and then all hell broke loose so that went well.

So for August, I didn't really bother with taking individual photos of what I got in each package and quite frankly, I forgot which items were from which shop, there were at least 5 different packages. So I split them up according to the month I received the items! The first part of my August loot all came in the two final weeks of August.

Everything in my August loot, that actually arrived in August! I finished those two books within two days! Bought them from BookDepository so they were all in English.

Amiibos got re-released so I managed to get myself my SSB main, Greninja and Lucina! I haven't actually scanned them yet since I misplaced my SSB game somewhere in my cave room.

Nendoroid Elsie was from a local seller on tumblr! She's pretty cute! The seller stated her as opened but he didn't say that all he did was open her box since the inner blister never seemed to be opened before. Elsie was still wrapped up in her plastic pieces so that was pretty nice! I took out one of her faceplates to use on another nendoroid but then put her back in her box so I haven't actually gotten time to play with her. Sorry Elsie OTL

Dangan Bon!!! Doujinshi and another load of straps! The Durarara!! straps and Kagepro vivimus were from Animate, I love the mekadorks! Other straps were from various places including Yahoo Auctions and MFC users. I don't really get the mushroom strap at all but it is of Alibaba so I had to get him at least.

I really don't know where I'm gonna put those straps besides storing them under my desk though OTL I really really should stop getting doubles as well since I've never used over half of the doubles I buy with intention to use them?

As soon as the month turned over to September, I got a package from Amazon Japan, and it had these books!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1440995284.jpeg

I already wrote about the middle one in a review here: blog/23759. That's the latest kagepro anthology manga on the left, I'm still reading haha! Not so fast this time cos its all in Japanese.

The Pandora Hearts art book really is wonderful and exceeded my expectations! Much more content than the first book, in my humble opinion and I would recommend all PH fans to get it!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1442120176.jpeg

ヽ(;▽;)ノ Mochijun, you've outdone yourself once again!

Then in the next two weeks, I got the remainder of my figures released in August, Figma Lucina and Nendoroid Mikazuki!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1442119505.jpeg

I took out Mikazuki for a review as soon as I received him from GSC, and he's my favouritest nendoroid to date! How can one old man be so pretty? It was difficult choosing between this sword wielding pose or his relaxing Jiji pose.

Lucina on the other hand, I left her in her box for a few days and then opened her up when I decided to write about her as my first figma. I took a preorder for her from another user. She had like, 3 defects and I had to email GSC's support twice to get replacements, one for her wrist that just randomly broke off, a crack in her base and air bubbles in her front hair piece. Really disappointed with the quality of this figma but I'm glad GSC is up to replacing all these defects so it doesn't really matter in the long run.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1443673436.jpeg

They were selling Pop Vinyl cases at the local game shop and I thought I'd buy one to try out to see if they'd be good for nendoroids and figmas. I think it was pretty successful! It'd be a tight fit for figmas but can easily fit two standard nendoroids!

More straps/miscellaneous items from Suruga-ya~

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1442635907.jpeg

Not a huge loot from Suru this time, not sure why I only decided to get a few small items. I decided to take my chances with bravely default strap blind box, since I had a 1/5 chance to get either Edea or Ringabel!

https://jpeghost.net/x-owcaaa.jpg

I got Edea so that was awesome! Still incredibly hyped for Bravely Second to release in the West along with a whole load of other games!

Some random stuff I bought from the shops and the one thing I've been waiting for months...

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1444210987.jpeg

The new Nintendo 3DS LL Happy Home Designer edition!!!

This edition comes with the console, the game code and a bunch of other small goodies! It doesn't come with a charger, like all the new 3DS XL models, but I have almost 5 identical chargers so I wasn't too fussed about it. This was released on the 3rd in Australia but I wasn't able to get it until a few days later xO

I love the smell of new technology. I was so excited for this it became infectious and my friend also bought one despite not being a huge fan of the series lol.

Nendoroid More Torikaekko Faces!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1444213967.jpeg

I found these for near retail price at the shops so I bought them on a whim! I can say that I'm glad I impulse-bought these as I really like the dollar sign eyes and scheming faceplates.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/LovelyIdiot1444548882.jpeg

Miku where you going with that? >=P

I also bought the Tsuioku Toshi artbook by toi8! I'm mostly familiar with his work from No.6 so I don't really know where this art is from, but I love it anyway so I bought it. This was the last copy in the three Kinokuniya branches I went to and the store keepers couldn't find it themselves, so I took it upon myself to scout it out. Took like a solid hour but in the end it was well worth it!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1444319069.jpeg

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1444319118.jpeg

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/LovelyIdiot1444319188.jpeg

I only got the first half of the book since I only had enough cash on me for one book and this one was the last one in stock fufufu. I need to get the second half of the set though, there's a few left in stock so I'm not too worried I guess?

One of my September AmiAmi shipments came in a week later, VIA EMS but it came to me in a box like this:

https://jpeghost.net/x-Hvcaaa.jpg

Not gonna lie, I had an internal freak out when I saw this box and the postman looked at me funnily. It looked like someone decided to swing a baseball bat right where it says "Fragile" on the side and decided to poorly patch up the part where the box ripped with tape. Needless to say, once I removed the all the tape there was just this huge gaping hole ripped into the side and it scares me to think that at some point during transit my package came undone. Derpy batman is my pencil case and he is there for the size reference.

So after I finished that dreaded art assignment I mentioned earlier, I went back to the post office with this box, one week after I received it, and filed a complaint officially. And so in the end, all I have to show you guys from my AmiAmi September loots is everything that wasn't damaged...

https://jpeghost.net/x-Ivcaaa.jpg

Are a bunch of rubber straps and clips from both my AmiAmi shipments ahahah... The second box was actually just full of straps for group splits. That box originally had 2 boxes of Kagerou Project acrylic keychains, a few Mikagura Tsumamare rubber straps, Yamato's nendoroid and a few Amiibo which were gifts for a friend. Luckily the amiibo weren't damaged lol.

The post office said with optimism that the compensation process will take 3 weeks at the best but that just sounded like 3 months to my ears lol excuse me while I cry.

So anyway, I guess technically everything that was taken away for inspection now counts as an October/November/December/100 years later loot or something like that if I'll ever see my things again. Ironically, everything that ever came to me damaged or in damaged packaging was actually

1) In the past two months and showcased in this loot post, the former being from Amazon Japan and
2) all shipped via express mail, so DHL and EMS.
I never had this problem with SAL and I find that ironically hilarious.

Anyway! Thanks for reading my "shorter than expected but still somewhat long" loot post, hopefully most of it made sense and that the rest of you have better luck than I when it comes to packages.

ZoroZoldyck (1 year ago) #4365718Hmm..
You might have convined me to try to contact GSC and try to get a replacement arm for my Okabe.. The arm just snapped when I touched it the first time, and I already had experience with two other figmas before.. so it's not like I was rough..
The whole figure is just hard to move, it's really scary to pose him, being afraid I'll break something again../
Any advice?

I don't know how old your Okabe figure is but if it's release date was more than a year ago, chances are GSC will decline and not send you any replacement. Still, if you have an idea of how the joint that broke off works you could just super glue it at the parts where it doesn't rotate, though I'd do this with great caution.

Necroid_Neko (1 year ago) #4343037That Pandora Hearts artbook looks so nice! But...you bought Elsie and didn't even display her?? ARE YOU A MONSTER???
I love Elsie so much I'm naming my first daughter after her...

It is a really nice book, I like it more than the first one that came out a few years ago, her art has improved in my opinion. Ahhh I know, I'm a terrible collector cos most of my figures actually stay in their boxes ahaha...

serperucaz (1 year ago) #4343168Nice loot. Good idea the POP boxes.

Thanks! They were ~$10 a pop. xD

AkibaMelon (1 year ago) #4319580Wow, that was a really lovely and interesting loot post! ^^
So much different stuff *__* Figures, books, collectibles! Very nice :D Thanks for that!
So sorry to hear about the damaged box V_V I wouldn't know what's worse... the damaged items or having to give them away and fearing about never seeing them again .__. I hope everything will turn out fine! :)

Ahh thank you so much for reading! I'm glad you liked it.

Mmmm but it could be worse and I get full compensation so it's just a matter of waiting. Thanks for your words! I hope none of your stuff ever come damaged so you don't have to give your things away.

AnAbleAngel (1 year ago) #4319164An Art Assignment? I'd love to do one of those! Would be a nice break from report writing and research tasks.
I'm not sure how it is over there in Perth, but my post office handles compensation pretty well. Hopefully yours will be the same! I find that the root cause still lies in the courier-transit part of the posting system, because I've had more troubles receiving packages from Domestic sources (using Aus Post) than overseas.
Regardless, you still have my hopes :O

Ah yeah, it took me 15 hours over the course of 4 days but it's still better than writing reports and such. I quite like traditional drawing so I'd rather do that any day!

It's good to hear that Auspost at least is somewhat fair with compensation, I've never had to deal with this before in the three years I've been collecting. I've heard people getting compensation back from damaged AmiAmi packages (not sure if it was paid out by Ami or the post offices) as AmiAmi points, but I'd rather my money back lol.

Thanks so much! Hopefully your packages will arrive in much better condition than mine haha.
