i(Very) Late March Lootn/a    Readers' selection (2016-05-08)

I know I'm a little late but I have never been good in keeping track of blogs and stuff like that (I like making lists though), so please accept my humble apologies ;)

So in this blog it will be the rest of my March Loot as said in my last/first loot blog.

Let's look at these first but before that I have one question for all of you: If you say "This is my March Loot", does that mean it's the loot that you ORDERED in that month or is it the loot that you actually GOT in that month? I noticed that many figures that come out now do so only in the end of the month so they will surely only arrive in the next month. It just kinda bugged me and I got curious because I also made an excel spread sheet to keep track of my finances spent on loot in which I added the "month of loot" and suddenly didn't know what to write. I made a poll and would be happy to hear your opinions on this one.

Oh and the good thing is that I have a small but steady income by now so that I don't have to touch my savings for buying figures anymore (which was a bad idea to begin with, but I'm fine as it wasn't too much....but seriously...don't do it!!! But I guess everybody knows that and it was just me making a stupid rookie mistake of going crazy T_T).

Anway, to the loot! Sorry for talking so much!! The rest of the March loot arrived on the 29th of March or rather I got them from the post office at that point. It was one INSANELY big (but luckily light) package from SolarisJapan,a smaller one from AmiAmi and another small one from another MFC member *yay*.

These were my first scale figures and at the same time one of them was an instant favourite for me, as I have had an eye on it even before I joined MFC and actually started collecting. It's not exactly a grail as it was quite easy to find, but DAMN was it expensive. I swear to myself I will never buy a figure that expensive again...even though he was worth eeeevery little penny and I don't regret it at all (let's see if I can actually keep that promise to myself! >///<).

But first things first, let's have a look at the boxes. I don't have pictures on every side or every single box so we have to go with this group picture (I'm also really sorry for the messy background. I didn't really realise that while taking it and now I'm too lazy to redo it). The boxes for the both Nendos are quite simple, and GSC mostly sticks to one design when it comes to them I guess. Which is nice in a way, I like it. It's another thing with the scale figure boxes. They are just....awsome! At least these 4 definitely are to me. They fit the characters and the series so much it's insane. Shiro with the really vibrant coloured box just like the whole series,or Yoshino & Yoshinon with the cute buttons. Really lovely.

To the figures, let's start off with Shiro which was in the small AmiAmi package. Apart from the Miku figure I mentioned in my last blog this is the first scale figure I ordered as I really loved the series. And she is really great! At first I couldn't really decide whether I like this Kotobukiya Version more or the one from Phat Company with the Chibis of the other characters (MFC link), in fact I would love to have both. But the price of the Phat one scared me away a little at that point. Even though...with the Chibis it's like you get more than just one figure out of it I guess, which is awsome.

The next 4 figures where all from the SolarisJapan loot. I just finished the first season of Date A Live when I stumbled upon this cutie. I love the pose and the base and of course Yoshino & Yoshinon *-* There is another great figure of her also from PLUM that I really adore, but for some reason that one got insanely expensive and this one dropped a lot in price. From some of the comments I read on this one, many people were dissapointed because there were painting errors and other stuff that made the figure less "good/worth". But I love her nonetheless. Especially because on first sight I can't really find any errors on mine. But as I'm also still quite new to all of this I might have overlooked something. Still, much love for this one, especially because the price on the aftermarket wasn't high at all due to the bad feedback.

I played the DMMd VN a while back and thought the art and story setting were just great. Funny thing was that I didn't know it was a BL/Yaoi series when i started, as I just liked the cover design. So when the first scene "happened" I got kind of irritated. But as I don't really mind any genre at all (neither like one in particular) and I loved it so far, I played it the whole way through. And liked it. Especially Aoba and Noiz <3
I was amazed how little of that is actually shown in the anime! Anyway, what I didn't know was that SolarisJapan still had the first release in store with the pre-order bonus Ren keychain!! I was SO happy when I found out...I literally jumped up and down in my room grinning all over my face, haha :D

Soooo the next one is my loved one...like really....I LOVE this figure. Everytime I look at it I grin like crazy and that alone makes it worth to have spent all that money on him. The box design is amaaaazing, and the box is HUUUUGE...but so is the figure^^ I love the drawn Benten on one of the box sides.

There are so many details on this figure I don't even know where to start. My favorite part as you might have noticed because of the 3rd picture (see spoiler) are the feathers....Just beautiful. I don't even have words for this. I was really worried when I assambled him as you have to bend the hair a little to get it in the right place around the wings. And when putting in the wings I really tried to not touch him anywhere near the belly or legs, because there you have the belly piercing and the pearls on his shoe laces which are even mentioned in the instructions guide as very fragile and you are advised to not touch them at all!!
Anyway, I didn't want to make a review out of this (because I would probably suck at reviews due to lack of knowledge) and I don't even have words to describe my love for this figure. Knowing this you can probably imagine how my face looked when I opened the box and found that both the limited first edition pre-order bonus AND the GSC online shop pre-order bonus were part of this!!! AMAZING!!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/-oresama-1462660125.jpeg

Sadly, all the pictures I took aren't really that well as the light in my room (I have my room in the basement) as well as the available background are really horrible. So the plan is to get some pictures outside at some point soon. Already looking forward to that :)

On to the Nendos, the first one is the one which was also included in the SolarisJapan box, NOIZZZZZZ :D The included background in the box is really great as well and I only noticed quite late after I already had taken some pictures of him.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/-oresama-1462661138.jpeg

The last one is my first purchase from another MFC member! At first I was a little bit hesitant to go and get second-hand figures. As I said I don't know yet what to look out for when looking at the condition of an item and that made me kind of worried. But this one was in Sweden (meaning no toll and taxes for me, which is a LOOOOOT here), had a great price and I just love the leaf she has and how cute she is overall. So I went for it, and I'm happy I did. The communication was great, shipping was fast and the figure condition (as far as I can tell) like new.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/-oresama-1462661136.jpeg

So with this great experience I will conclude this blog with one last question to all of you. Until now I kept all my figures (which aren't many yet) on my magazine shelf but I really want to go and buy a detolf in the next weeks. So I read another blog where the question was whether you can assemble it yourself and the answer was "Yes you can, but it's way easier with help". Which is okay, I think I surely can get somebody to help. But my problem will be to get it from the store to my place. I probably have to do that by myself and I don't have a car. So my question now is: Does anybody know how big the packed up detolf is? can I carry it by myself on the bus without breaking it into pieces? Would be great if you could let me know in the comments :)

Looking forward to the next blog, some of my April Loot has arrived while I await some other figures that I had shipped with SAL :)

-oresama- (11 months ago) #9771042Phew that's kinda relieving actually, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one :D It just felt weird because I got into it really quickly. Maybe because I looked at a lot of figure pictures way before getting my first one :)
And wow! That's a very detailed answer, more than I had hoped for! Thank you very much for that, really appreciate it :)

It can be a bit overwhelming at the start, but you mentioned you made excel spreadsheet and you keep track of your finances, so you are doing good!
No problem, I'm glad it helped a bit. I hope everything goes well with buying Detolf :)

naftie (11 months ago) #9771779Me too! I really can't wait to get him one day, Nanako did a wonderful job of staying faithful to the manga^^
Don't worry, writing what's in your head is definitely interesting to read! They're my favourite kind of blogs(:

Yeah that's definitely true! I always hoped for an anime adaptation though....but I guess that will never happen *sob* That's why I started rereading the manga from scratch when I finally got the figure from the post office, because it got me all hyped again, hehe (even though I guess I never was NOT hyped for it) :P
I'm really glad to hear that, it kinda makes me feel at ease, thank you :)

I'm happy that you had fun while reading as I always feel a little insecure about writing something that's interesting for everybody. In the end I always end up with what is in my head in that second and it might come off strange to some people^^

Asteria (11 months ago) #9745636View spoilerHide spoilerNice loot post, you got some amazing figures! Don't feel too bad about using your savings once, it happens to many of us at some point.

Detolf assembly instructions advise 2 people for building it. It's possible to do it alone, but I wouldn't recommend it. Glass panels are quite heavy and there are some tricky parts (like connecting 2 panels with corner pvc thing, it can be difficult even with 2 people).
They are packed in 2 carboard boxes (unless packaging changed by now), around 43x163cm big according to Ikea's site. I really wouldn't take them on public transport. They are probably sturdy enough, but if someone pushes you by accident, or driver has to suddenly use brakes.. it's just not worth the risk. Taxi might be cheaper option than Ikea delivery, and Detolf fits even in smaller cars just fine. Just lower the back of co-driver's seat so it fits there.

atimidtempest (11 months ago) #9745530I don't have a Detolf myself, but Detolf is sold by Ikea, right? All of Ikea's furniture is sold disassembled into flat boxes to begin with. In my experience, they usually are manageable for one person, and a Detolf doesn't seem as if it would be too large to prove me otherwise. Unless of course Ikea's are different where ever you are from!
Ooooooh, Sora no method! I have been eyeing that Nendo for a while!

No, Ikea should be the same everywhere. At least it is in all the countries that I have been to^^ The only thing that differs slightly are the prices (Sweden as the country of origin is the cheapest *yay*).
Yeah, I thought the same but was still unsure. I just came to the conclusion that I will go and give it a try and if I see it will be too large to carry in a practical way I have to come back another time :) But your answer gave me some hope that I don't have to go there twice :D Thank you!

And yeah, it's a really beautiful Nendo! In addition I have a faible for figures with leaves like that (e.g. the Snow Miku 2015 or Totoro, etc.). It kinda was my dream as a kid to be able to hide from the rain under a big leaf haha :P
