iGK With Molded Pegs?n/a

I was reading up on putting GK together while I waited for my first one to arrive. When it showed up, I noticed it had built in pegs and holes instead of dots to show where to add pins.

Does this mean I can bypass pins and just glue everything in place? Does this sort of thing hold?

Oh dear. Well, mine doesn't have them anymore. I removed them and drilled for pins :(

Yeah. My kit is from 1994.

leonasenshi (4 days ago) #21404362Those are really not pegs, they're called connection keys, they are made that way so that the pieces will connect without them swiveling, it's very common, pinning is still required in these cases, the majority of kits have them, but there are some kits without them, those are much older.

ponnie (8 days ago) #21254354These pegs are not deep enough to hold for long. I'd recommend pinning these.
Only PVC-like pegs work well and sturdy without pins. And those are HUGE, believe me.

Bellare (8 days ago) #21238703You can, but I would recommend adding pins, because it adds more stability incase of a move or dusting the piece.
If you don´t add pins, it can break apart even from just being flipped over.

Darn. Kind of a shame the sculptor went to the trouble of adding them, then.

Thanks for the input, guys!
