iRevoltech Vox Aura, ROBOT Damashii Vox...n/a

I like Rinne no Lagrange, and I'm a bit torn:

Revoltech: item #112324
ROBOT Damashii: item #91236

Obviously neither of them have been released yet, but I've heard some people say that the ROBOT Damashii is better, because it has more accurate details and proportions. On the other hand, the Revoltech looks much more dynamic, and her promo photos really make her stylised proportions work. Of course, the ROBOT Damashii comes with a pretty stand, but the Revoltech can transform! It doesn't help that they both have the same RRP. (I know the RD is slightly cheaper on AmiAmi, but it's not too much of a difference.) So what am I to do? Get the Revoltech, ROBOT Damashii, or both?

In any case, I won't place my orders until mid-July, most likely. I have a hunch that someone will announce a chogokin Vox Aura while the second season airs, and I definitely want to catch that. If this does turn out to be the case, then I definitely will only be getting one figure between the Revoltech and ROBOT Damashii. (Aquarion got one, so it's not impossible right?)

Help me, MFC? Thanks in advance!

Which one should I get?

  • 29.17%
    Revoltech Vox Aura
  • 25%
    ROBOT Damashii Vox Aura
  • 45.83%
    Both!!

meteorstormed (1 year ago) #1014358You're actually wrong on that one. It's had a manga running since September of 2011, one that's still ongoing. Problem is very, very few people actually know about the manga - so while to us, it might seem like flavor of the month, in Japan it's actually probably at least somewhat a different situation.

That said, the manga doesn't portray the same events as the anime, rather, other events in the world of RnL, so the anime is still original stuff.

That's what I meant. The manga is just an accompaniment, not the source material. I still like the looks of the Revoltech more, but I will definitely get some version of the RD.

citrus (1 year ago) #1007660What's fotm? I assume it means flavour of the month? Lagrange has a pretty continuous plot. It's not attached to any source material either, so I guess it's pretty up in the air as for where it's going to go. There's already an OVA planned for August, though, so the first must have done pretty well.

Go for the RD, I'd say. From what I understand, Revoltechs are a pretty inferior line by a huge margin, and when they have gimmicks like transforming, that just takes away even more.

I voted both, but if you really have to choose, I suggest you get the Robot Damashii version since the line has an overall better quality in term of details and paint, and sometimes, revojoints are a bit loose. However, for the color and the posability, I personnally prefer the revoltech.

Hard choice indeed.^^

yeah its "flavor of the month"
Like I said, wait and see how it does. An OVA doesnt mean much, worse anime have made it to season 2 with an OVA.

That said, the design of the mecha and the overall production of the show was made for merchandising so we'll see.

Fauxtool (1 year ago) #1007637I really doubt they will do a Chogokin. They dont make stuff for Fotm robot animes. Maybe if it makes it to season 3.

I say get the RD if you will be posing it and putting it on a shelf. The revoltech if you want to play with it.

citrus (1 year ago) #1007519Thanks for the heads up! I never knew about that. Is it possible that some other company may announce one?

The only thing I could see happening is perhaps a model kit by Kotobukiya. Kaiyodo and Bandai pretty much monopolize the mecha-figure market - there are a few other companies like Aoshima and Fewture that dabble in chogokins, but they mostly stick to 70s and 80s mecha.

RolanMcDolan (1 year ago) #1007511I have my doubts that Bandai will release a Super Robot Chogokin Vox Aura - they've never done both a SRC AND a RD of a given mecha. That being said, my honest recommendation would be to wait for reviews of the Revoltech. Robot Damashiis generally have very little difference between the prototype photos and what you get, but Revoltechs often look much better or worse than the prototype.
