2 - Cardboard is fine for international as well - keeping a fair amount of cushioning between a figure box and the outside of a carton is always a good idea. If you are happy to ship an item nationally, then there should be no difference if you ship internationally. Only size and weight restrictions apply, you'll need to check to with your local post office.

4 - You may "help" your buyers with declarations, depending on what they ask. Otherwise any charges are up to the buyer.

5 - In terms of Paypal, only send an item with tracking number. In case of EMS or FedEx, you will automatically get one. - Here is maybe another "pitfall", depending what you do under point 4. If damage happens, transport companies tend only to pay the amount you have declared, the item to be worth!!!

Hope this will help.

Wildstar (1 year ago) #1008022Don't know how it is for the rest of the world, but in the EU private couriers like DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc. will always get taxed. Not only that, the company itself will charge a ridiculous handling fee (something like 30€-100€).
Do them a favour and never use couriers for european buyers. Use mail or EMS.

Agree! Possibly don't even use EMS (I've heard it always gets taxed, and there is an extra fee for express mail if it gets a customs charge). If you can find a service that has delivery confirmation, but isn't too expensive (like SAL and airmail) they work perfectly well - usually stuff arrives a lot faster than expected, too.

In the UK, customs is applicable if the item is worth over £15 (about $22), including the price of shipping. The import fee is 20% the total of the item's value, and the shipping, plus a handling fee of £8 or £13.50 (about $15-$20). Whether the item is used or new doesn't matter. Some people get around this by having sellers devalue the item or mark it as a gift.

DHL almost 100% guarantee that the receiver won't have to pay customs fee

Packing, cardboard with an extra space for bubble, sterofoam, or other soft material to withstand the damage or force during the shipping is fine

The handling, umm, I'm sure that DHL will handle it nicely

Hope this helps, since I'm from Indonesia too, and I know about how bad the mailing and post company in Indonesia
