★Today we'll be taking a look at another of native's Creator's Collection series figure, Princess Mordina, drawn and created by Oyari Ashito, who has a number of art books and visual novels under his belt. A few of his creations have been made into figures including this one as well as a couple upcoming figures. He has a distinct art style and seems a good fit for native.The princess is a native Online Store exclusive and the order period has since ended. She retailed for around 8,500 Yen. However since most of you probably had to use a proxy or ordered her indirectly from another store, you're probably looking at around 10,000 to 12,000 Yen not including shipping. She was released in April of 2012 so if you still want to acquire her your best bet is the secondary market or foreign stores that stock native figures.
The goal today is to take a closer look at the figure and to see what she has to offer.
Please understand a score of 10 will never be given as there is always room for improvement no matter how perfect a figure.

Packaging: 9/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡
Like usual, native took a creative approach to the design of the figure box. And as usual you cannot see the figure while in the packaging. It looks like they went with a hat box design? The colors used compliment the figure nicely as they are all present in the figure. The lustrous gold, the pure white and the scandalous pink. Also it looks like the design on the side makes it look like a white crown which is fitting for the theme?
★★Packaging weight and dimensions:

The cardboard provides adequate protection especially with the circular design that helps deflect indirect blows to it. The interlocking design boosts the protection even further. For a change the box is providing most if not all of the strength while the blister adds little to overall protection. The weight is also reasonable as is the size. For even more protection, if the source you ordered her from retained the use of the protective box native provided then they would really have to make an effort to damage the packaging and figure. However this will kick up the total weight. I estimate shipping weight to be around 1.5 to 2 Kg. They achieved a decent balance between protection, size and weight. She should get to you safely protected well from physical damage and prying eyes.
A two piece blister was used to hold her in place. The base is stored in it's own one piece blister nestled within the primary blister. You are given an unobstructed view of the figure as soon as you open the figure box. Plastic sheets were used to protect the figure from rubbing and paint transfer.
★The pockets also had covers on them to help hold the accessories in place. Transparent stickers to be used on the bottom of her crown to protect from paint transfer were provided. This was needed as the magnet in crown was quite strong and would have rubbed gold paint all over her head.
★Instructions on the care of the figure were provided. This was appreciated as I could see you damaging the figure without them when setting her up. They even provided a card of the original illustration that the figure was based off of.
★native did a nice job as usual. They took a creative approach with the looks of the figure box while retaining excellent protection. This was down while keeping the size and weight down. She should get to you safely and at a reasonable cost. Expectations were met.
Sculpting: 8/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡♡
Sculpting credits go to yr? who has been working on figures for a few years. Looking at the past figure I'd have to say this sculptor is gradually improving with each succeeding figure. As you can see below the figure can be broken down to several pieces as well as all of the accessories included. The bunny ears, tail and crown are magnetized to allow for easy installation and removal with little to no risk of damaging the figure. I wish they would do this more often. The chains are actually metal. I confirmed this by using the magnets on them. This extra detail was definitely appreciated.

She looks good, right? Well, for the most part that is the case but there are some "issues" if you will with her. Normally these "issues" wouldn't be that big of a deal if she was a standard release from one of the other houses but considering she was made to order and due to her cost you tend to expect a little more in overall quality. In any event we'll address those "issues".
Let's first start with her face. The shape of her face appears accurate to the illustration but her features on the other hand seem off but that's more to do with the coloring of the figure instead of the sculpt. I especially liked the job they did with her mouth and her jawline. The transition to her swan-like neck was seamless and her face looks nice from various angles.
★★Her hair seems pretty close to the illustration and it's actually pretty solid as its meant to bear her weight. That lustrous hair of hers came at a cost in the multiple pieces that made it up. There are seam lines but it looks like they did try to integrate them into her hairstyle and also it appears the most likely display angles actually keep the worst of them hidden. I still think they could have reduced the number of pieces but it's not the end of the world. For the most part her hair looks good from various angles. And I don't think you can ignore the level of detail they put into that intricate hairstyle of hers. However at the same time it does seem to lack some refinement, I can't put my finger on it? Her hair is detailed but at the same time it doesn't seem as defined as it could be. Results may vary?
Her slim physique is nicely detailed from her small breasts to those well defined shoulders and collarbones. The transition from her chest to outfit was done well and seems natural. Her arms are just as detailed and natural looking.
★Her back is just as detailed and natural looking. However you will more than likely encounter some transition issues going from her torso to her waist. It looks like they designed the upper torso around the skirt instead of considering what she would look like without the skirt. Due to this you will more than likely see some unsightly gaps/seams around her waist when the skirt is not installed. No matter how hard I tried I could not get rid of or minimize the gaps. I don't know about you but I expected more from native considering this was a cast off figure. It's not the end of the world but it does impact the aesthetics and lines of the figure with those disrupting seams. If they don't look that bad in the shots it is because I used as much force as I could to connect her torso to her lower body short of breaking the figure. If you didn't put in as much effort more than likely it would look much worse. But again, maybe I'm wrong and mine is worse than others?
★★Her frilly skirt looks accurate to the illustration but I felt it could have been a little more detailed. It doesn't change the fact it looks good especially against her bare flesh. And that skirt barely covers anything that you might as well leave it on as there really isn't much difference with the added bonus of eliminating the seam at her waist.
★★Since this is native I don't think you'll be surprised by the detailing they put into her naughty bits. Even with the skirt on and her hand obscuring the scene you still get an eyeful. Her tight little rear end looks good as well but her naughty bits definitely takes center stage.
★I love the job they did with her legs. They are long and slender with the right amount of curves. They match up nicely with the illustration. Her frilly stockings are detailed and look great. The attention to detail can be seen at the side of her stockings with the lace holes running up the length of the thighs. Normally something like this is usually ignored but they actually put that detail in which was appreciated and noted. Those stockings look so realistic with how they wrinkled at the various bends and curves ending in those sexy heels of hers. The transition from her thighs to stockings was done well. Results may vary but I doubt it here.
★★For the most part they did a nice job on her. My biggest concern was the seam lines at her waist. However since her skirt barely covers anything you can leave it in to avoid the issue. That still doesn't excuse them and I expected more from native. They did a decent job replicating the illustration otherwise but for some reason she does seem to lack some refinement, I just can't put my finger on it. Expectations were mostly met.
Painting: 7/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡♡♡
native usually employs all the tools available to color their figures and do an excellent job with the flesh. However, as of late some of their recent figures have been lacking in one way or another. Compared to the illustration I think you can see a few things are off...

★Starting with her face I think the biggest thing is where the heck is her blush? She barely has one. It's so faint it might as well not be there and really changes the look of the figure compared to the illustration. Another thing is her eyes they just seem off as well. Now if it wasn't the illustration and if you just looked at the figure as is she would have been fine I suppose? Note also the lack of shading in her hair. I think that was the "issue" I was seeing with her hair. It just lacks the depth and dimension you see in the illustration.
Her flesh on the other hand was done excellently. This is what I expect from native and they delivered here from her lovely skin and complexion to her naughty bits and nipples. The shading and accents were used to bring her flesh to life and enhance the details.
Another area of concern is the outfit. If you look at the illustration she's pinkish while the figure is more blue/purplish. I understand it was for shading but I don't see why they couldn't have been more in line with the illustration?
Her accessories were colored pretty nicely. The only area of concern is the crown as the bottom of the crown could transfer paint to the figure's hair. native did provide clear stickers to help prevent this and they do work nicely.
This figure was a mixed bag in regards to the coloring. On one hand her flesh looked lovely as well as her accessories. And on the other hand everything else was off in regards to the illustration. Even if you took the illustration out of the equation things like her hair and face just seem lacking in refinement. Expectations were not really met but results may vary? Maybe I was just unlucky?
Posing: 8/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡♡
I think the comparison of the illustration to the figure is more than needs to be said. Sculpt-wise they did a decent job. They were pretty close from the placement of the hair to her body positioning and outfit. Now in the color department they were off especially with the faint blush. It just looks like a totally different character due to that alone.
★Now display options, you have a ton. The combinations you could come up with mixing and matching her accessories and outfits was I believe close to 100 possible ways to display her. Below you can see a small sampling of the display options.
★★★Going back to the seams in her hair. Below are the basically at the end of the display angle I believe most people would possibly display her. As you can see the majority of the seams are minimized or hidden so they don't really post much of an issue compared to the ones at her waist which you can see in the one photo.
★I love the display options, you are given so many choices. The sculpt was done well in regards to accuracy of the illustration but the coloring of the figure was lacking. Expectations are mixed if you couldn't tell.
Base: 8/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡♡
Not really much to say here. The base gets the job done and the softness of it both helps protect the figure and compliments her delicate side nicely. It's not too big and consistent with their previous bases where they employed the same type just in a different scale.
★As mentioned the base gets the job done. Not too flashy but somewhat compliments the figure. Expectations were basically met since it's the base shown in the official photos.

So we've taken a closer look at her. My feelings are mixed. If you look at her by herself without the illustration, she's an OK figure. But when you compare her with the illustration she comes up somewhat short. I really expected more of native in regards to the fit and finish as well as accuracy of the figure. Was she worth what I paid? I'm not really sure. If I had to do it again I probably would have waited for a better price after release. In any case hopefully this was just a bump in the road for native and they can get back to the quality I expect from them.
