Surface Mail

So I just ordered a bunch of Doujin and chose to ship using Surface Mail. It says 2-3 Months (which honestly isn't too bad I guess since SAL sometimes takes 2 months) but just wondering.

For those living in the US and had something shipped from Japan using Surface Mail, what was the average amount of time it took to get to your place?

My Surface mail finally arrived after.... 1 month 2 weeks and 5 days. Not bad considering that they estimated 1-3 months by boat.

This is all really surprising information for me.

I thought the norm was a month because of my past experiences. And the case isn't only isolated to amiami and figure stores, for stuff like CDJapan, it usually takes that long too. Idk. Maybe my mailman is lazy. lol.

I live in SoCal and the longest that a SAL package has ever taken is exactly 2 weeks and the shortest its ever taken is 8 days. So, it doesn't really make sense why SAL takes so long for you. It's odd.

Come on, it's 2-3 weeks even to Siberia! Don't underestimate SAL.
Do not know anything about Surface Mail, though.

citrus (5 years ago) #1034733That is really weird. I live in California, too, and I've never had anything take longer than two weeks and a bit with SAL shipping. Heck, my recent package from Mandaraked in just a week via Registered SAL.

Seriously? No matter if I am in North California (I lived there for 3 years) or in SoCal my packages always took at least a month for SAL. In North California I lived in a small town and in Socal I live in LA so I don't think that city size is a part of it.

That's why I'm really happy/yet sad when I get EMS. That's just sooo fast compared to the month I spend not thinking about my package on that airplane to nowhere.
