i♥ Otaku ♥n/a

Hello everybody!

One month ago I joined here, and now I know, that this is the paradise for otaku. So thank you, users, that you're so kind! ^^

This isn't my first blog, but sorry for my bad English.

First, I hope that you leave a comment for me. It's very important for me, and I love all users here!

Do you have any otaku-friends? Are you otaku? Do you scared to tell, that you're otaku, or are you too shy? I am. Or, I scared to tell, because I haven't any otaku-friends.

Is anime all your life? Is it your better world? It's my little
paradise ♥

And yet: how often you buy figures?

Otaku, Amy

Marco_Sensei (8 months ago) #1123375The "Otaku" terms isnt "good" or "bad" anymore. Those things evolve you know. Dont trust a dictionnary over this.

If you really want to know and are not just bashing... Here we go !

1) In a recent survey in Japan, 25% of the active population consider themselves as "Otaku" for something.

2) there is now a lot of different type of Otaku.
- Ota-light : you like a few thing that can be called otaku's stuff but not much.
- Otaku ( Type A ) : enjoy manga and anime, mostly for the Story. Got an interest in Direction, Acting,... Hate Anime without content. This type of otaku is really close to the US and Europe Anime-fans.
- Otaku ( Type B ) : Only interested in characters, lots of them, any type, Moe, Oppai, petanko, Megane, Yaeba, Tsundere,... Story ? Who care ? Shee'ss sooo Cuuutteeee... >_<
- Kimo-Otaku ( nothing to do with Kimotaku, the actor. ^_^' ) : litteraly "Kimochi ga warui" Otaku, wich could be translated in "this otaku give me the creep". Those are the pervs who hunt seiyu ( character voice actor ) because they just got a boyfriend and it's a treason over the "pure" character they are playing. They basicly dont live in the same world as many of us. -_-
- Hikikomori-Otaku : dont bother, you wont see them... because they never leave theire house. -_-

So if you're in the Top 2, like the majority of modern Otaku are, there is absolutely no problem being an Otaku... ^_^

nice info, marko.

Im the Otaku type A.

and...Amy, I like your 1st article :D

Destroyman (8 months ago) #112589710,102 surveyed. Country population is nearly 128,000,000. As I thought, "25% of the active population consider themselves as "Otaku" for something." couldn't have been more off.

Are you familiar at all with sampling? That is actually an excellent sample size for Japan's population. With a confidence level of 99%, that allows for a confidence interval of nearly +/-1.

FWIW, the question wasn't "do you identify as an otaku," but whether you identify as one or have been identified as one by one's peers. Still, clearly it's a term that's evolving inside and outside of Japan.

Marco_Sensei (8 months ago) #1124547@roronoa_zoro69 : I'm talikng about those who keep telling to Rei-fan she shouldnt call herself that. You're telling her it doesnt matter, and that's true. So you're not concerned by what I've said. ^_^

And for the word, it's just that : a word, with meanings, evolving, in a living culture. That's not a category nor a box, that's an open definition. And believe it or not, even for japanese, this word isnt a 100% bad thing anymore.

Ah ok i see ^_^
well there is some words who can evolve but some will still be what they mean in the first meaning and to those who don't know what it is if you say "otaku" they will google and find the real meaning not the one the western style gave it with years, but it all comes to how people wanna be called can't say to someone "don't call yourself like that" but i can tell to people to not call me like that ^_^

baldr365 (8 months ago) #1123157I think he deserves to know the bad connotation. Anybody is free to call themselves whatever degrading term he/she wants. I just don't understand it, but it's their choice I guess.

You're right. He EDIT: She didn't know. I assumed he was more aware of the connotation, and it doesn't hurt for him EDIT: her to know. Hell, I don't identify as an otaku, but I know I'm labeled as such. Even my wife introduces people to me as one, but I get a free pass for the most part as I'm a white American (read: ignorant). But let's stop letting words define us and instead be comfortable with who we are. Fuck the haters.

Welcome to this community ^.^ I am also kind of new here too, but this community is so nice. It's good you love this site :D

I am alittle shy about my collecting habits, but most of my friends are used to my craziness. I have some otaku friends, but I don't have many that I can talk to mainly about figures with and none of my friends really collect any either. Other than that, I do not feel terribly frightened to share my joy of anime/manga.

Anime and manga (although mostly manga) is something I really enjoy. I am not as crazy as I was about it- when I was younger, my world revolved around anime, but now my interests have opened up and I enjoy other things; like comics. It definetly does feel like paradise when thinking about anime since anything can happen, just like in a dream or fantasy. That's what I like about it.

I have been buying figures more often (and as often) as I ever had. Once I save up the money, it'll be gone before I know it because I have so many figures I am interested in and my collection is still fairly small. It's not my goal to have a huge collection. I don't have much now though and I think of figures as art. I want to surround myself with them.
So, I guess my anwser would be that I do try to collect as many as I can all at once xD
