iA Wild Project Appears!n/a

Just getting around to taking some pictures of the loot that's arrived over the past week...but glad I did as I FINALLY got my School Version Homura today. (Stuck in NY for 5 days!!! Just after I had complimented USPS for being expediate and competant mere days earlier! Argh!!!!!>_<#)

That is another story for another day! Said loot!

Prize figure Rei...white dress version. GORGEOUS in person...so much so that I have Asuka on order to go with her.. *_*

Fruits Punch Rei, who's a real cutie....and Homura.

So! You're no doubt wondering where the project part of this comes in...right? Well, along with Homu, today I also had the object behind the boxes in this pic arrive.

Minor backstory: have been slowly getting my feet wet again in the arts and decided to start off with something small. I spy this...thing in the garage of a good artist friend, but then didn't think anything else about it. Today, she delivers it saying that it had been in there for 20 years and if I could give it the TLC that it needs, then I was welcome to it. Since miniatures were originally my forte, I accepted the offer with pleasure. I then spent the better portion of 2 hours scrubbing 2 decades of FUNK off this object with Pine Sol. I was just happy that she brushed it off...I've seen some large Black Widow spiders in that garage! O_O''

The result:

Not too bad!
It was then I got the idea...it looked about right so maybe...and don't you KNOW that it's just the right size for Figma! Since I've already got Madoka, Homura and Mami, I'll grab the other two Magica girls and turn this into a house for them. This is getting those rusty creative gears running again, which can only help. Challenge accepted! X3

Upstairs, with Madoka showing it off.

Downstairs, with Sakuya.

Do I feel a little strange as I'll be turning 35 in a few months and I'm working on a dollhouse for my Figmas? I thought that I might...but if one worries needlessly about living up to the expectations of others then everyone ends up getting dissapointed. My husband's already curious about how it's going to turn out but has already said that Mami needs her own space in it to have her tea. XD

I'm curious: I've seen some cute setups but how many on here have special scenes/houses/places that they display their figures in?

I'll keep everyone posted with pictures! :D

wow, I actually had the same idea for my Madoka figmas....I was going to make a house for Madoka and Homura and their love child....>.> was going to be elaborate, but I don't have enough room for a doll house. My room is packed. I brought home one of those old metal ones, washed it down and everything...then gave it to someone. Ramble ramble ramble.

Stalking (1 year ago) #1127039Such a great idea! ;0;

Just 2 days ago one of my college teachers said that figure collecting was my escape back to childhood. Whatever, girls are cute.

I only display mine, but I would love some furniture on my display cabinet though ;v;

I started out by picking up something on ebay: a vintage Licca-chan McDonalds playset that was to scale for my SE Play Arts. Didn't spend all that much for it and it came pretty much complete. (And with a Licca-chan doll too!) My husband then brings me home this wooden barn and it has since gone downhill from here. My Play Arts are more or less permanently displayed in the McDonald's playset as it's a fun way to show them off. (Not to menton horrify those who are brave/stupid enough to visit out house full of strange objects.)

AnnieAzura (1 year ago) #1126815It's so perfect! Wish I had kept my olds Barbie playhouses from when I was younger.

You should probably install walls to make separate rooms four rash floor + doors, and if youre confident enough, cut a place for a staircase. And the windows would look lovely with some curtains :3 ooooh the possibilities!

Over the past few days, I chopped up a cardboard box so I could play around with where wall partitions might go. Another idea I've been tossing around is making the ones on the bottom shelf movable so I could change the layout if I wanted to. Will probably just make permanent ones however: easier to set up furniture this way.

Asako (1 year ago) #1126756Well, it's in desperate need of a paintjob, but if you can do so, and get some 1/12 furniture for it, it seems like quite a decent bit of kit for staging figures. I wouldn't mind one, but I don't (and never will) have figmas, only nendos and scale. Still, I would like more than my two playsets for nendos, especially given how many I have now. ;.;

It needs a paint job reeeally bad: but some of the rooms I'm going to wall paper. I found this site where you can download and print out vintage wallpaper patterns and will peruse it in more length later. I'm planning on putting shingles on the roof too. That red is BRIGHT! X__X

No place to display my figures yet so they just go on my desk right now.

Looks fun!
I used to have a beautiful hand made doll house but when I had to leave my old home because of a bad situation there was no way for me to save it. I still miss it and want to build a new one or even just buy one. There's something really special about having a place like that for your toys no matter what your age!

Shinigamiyoko (1 year ago) #1126675That house looks like it was made for figmas! I'm sure Sakuya will take good care of it with her super maid skills :3
I'm looking forward to your pictures!

I thought so too! Debating on whether to keep the trim red or not...hm....
