iIndifferent response?n/a

Hi! This is about this article I posted before: (mfc link)

It was about me having defects in this figure item #91377... I wasn't sure if these were enough to mail about it, as soon as I saw response that this wasn't ok and that I should mail the shop and the company, I did, though my fears of these been taken as nothing seem to become reality. I'm not quite sure though, while I agree with Alter, which reply was:
"Please contact the store of purchase.
Regular distribution if the product will be supported by the following flow.
(customers→ shop→Agency →Alter)"

This seems perfectly understandable to me, though they replied 1st than BiJ. Now, I had to mail twice BiJ as it seemed I wrote the wrong address for these issues, so I give them that. But, this was their reply, which doesn't sounds good to me:
"Hello,

We are sorry to hear about that. You can be assured that all the items we sell are brand new. If they were second-hand they would be unsealed.
We haven't heard from any other customer regarding this figure. Though those defects seem to be rather superficial, we can try to check with our supplier what can be done. However they will request the return of the full defective figure for replacement. Are you ok with that?

Sincerely,

Big in Japan"

"Rather superficial" mmm... I stated on my e-mail that while these are not that noticeable on photographs, they are when they're in your hand or display, Alvis scratch all over her nose and at the side of her face really bug me )=... "You can be assured that all the items we sell are brand new. If they were second-hand they would be unsealed." Well, my package seemed to me that it has been unsealed, as it had double tape over it, and when taking it off the one below was cut. It is always like this for me from packages from BiJ, though this time the tape looks quite weird, yellowish, like if it was really old. I always thought they opened it there for defect inspection, as I remember I once read something like that on their site (which now I can't find). But I think they left through many flaws, as it just seems as someone had dropped Alvis... "However they will request the return of the full defective figure for replacement. Are you ok with that?" mmm this doesn't sound good to me either, it sounds like they will charge me shipping all over again, besides, they already overcharged me in the shipping of this figure, it was a very small extra charge, but still, that was why I chose to pay later when I preordered, so I could get accurate shipping charge, I thought of letting it go, as it was a small charge, but more shipping charges due to these flaws? I don't know...

What should I do now? I'm thinking of mailing them back explaining the double tape thing, stating again about the scratches and flaws not being so noticeable in photographs but in display they are, and asking them about the conditions of sending back the figure to get a better one. But what if I'm asked to pay for all the shipping fees? Maybe I should start thinking how to repair this figure myself )= ... What really bums me is that none of these was cheap for me, and then to have this bad luck... I'm really worried now for items I'm waiting for, I hope they don't come out badly )= ... good thing they don't come from BiJ, now I'm sure I'm not ordering something there if I can get it at other stores.

i just got my reply back from bij and they've agreed to pay for the shipping for the new figure, meaning i'd only have to pay for mine to return it. still sucks because it's a $40 charge to ship stocking back to japan but like i said before it's the cheapest and easiest solution.

ninjovee (7 months ago) #1195203try mailing them again and stress that the defects seem to be a manufacturing defect and not a used item defect. Do not send the item back first without getting a replacement... if they are really stubborn about not helping you out, if you paid using paypal, try filing a dispute.
From the BiJ FAQ:
In no case will we allow Paypal plaints or chargebacks. Such attitude will lead to immediate and irreversible ban from using our services.

I once had a box opened by customs. Could it be their doing? And if you clearly see that the figure was previously opened (double tape, yikes!) you should file a claim. They sell 'brand-new' figures, who the hell told them it's okay to open the box for inspection? This is nonsense! They sold you used figure - they shall pay for all expenses connected with exchanging it for the new one you've actually paid for. That would be quality customer service one expects from a major store.

aigis (7 months ago) #1194843i'm unaware of what your issue was, but i know jena's had to deal with a small part of a figure--are you sure they're not making abi and i go through bij because it has to deal with a whole figure? it's easy for alter to mail out a separate, smaller broken part vs a whole figure especially if the damage is so extensive. if i recall, even gcs wasn't very friendly in the case of figures like brs shipping out with broken twintails. just my opinion...!
Yup, that's likely another reason they point their finger at Big in Japan. However, I read about somebody having problem with an entire figure and he got replacement for it: (mfc link) . Maybe he was lucky and got the nicest support agent :\

FutSanNoShadowK (7 months ago) #1194763It seems Alter is treating this problem as something caused by the delivery/distribution party, rather than the manufacturing factory. That's why they pushed the responsibility to Big in Japan...

In Jena's and my cases they were manufacturing problem. So Alter willingly provided us free replacement parts.

It's up to Big in Japan to decide how much responsibility to take. Clearly they don't want to help you out of their own expense. And I'm not sure if there's anything you could do to make them feel more responsible. Maybe you could simply tell them that you are very unsatisfied with the purchase, and that you feel discouraged from doing further businesses with them. This works well for credit card companies but I don't know how it will work for Big in Japan...

The bottom line is, if you can make either Big in Japan or Alter feel responsible for what happened to your figure (hard), then you will get a free or at least partially paid replacement.

abi (7 months ago) #1194606@aigis: So this means shipping has to be paid... I kind of understand if I was on the store's place, its ok, all opinions help. I hope everything goes ok with your bad figure, I think I will not be able to pay extra shipping for mine, as I'm not in a good situation right now and have very limited spending, right now is just for the preorders I have to not fail in GOs.
oh, not necessarily, about the shipping i mean! i'm just saying that i am going through the same thing and that i wouldn't be surprised if they made you pay--they haven't actually gotten back to me with any details further than what you've received ("alter generally accepts exchanges, you'd have to send the figure back, is that ok with you" etc etc) so there may be hope that we won't have to pay at all! but i wouldn't be shocked if they didn't foot the bill.

either way, i hope you are able to sort this out sometime down the line. it's always a shame when something like this happens :(

if you provide them with better pictures and talk about the tape issue they might give you a discount on your next order, a little refund or something like that because its kind of obvious you will have to pay once again for shipping if you want a replacement

x1o8x (7 months ago) #1194565huh? alter doesn't provide replacements directly to customers?
they do if something is missing or broken, a guy made a blog here talking about that
