iAmiAmi Strikes Againn/a

I've heard about AmiAmi being rather incinsistent with shipping calculation, but this is just ridiculous. Here's the story.

You see, I got an invoice for my October order. It's rather big (10 items, over 30000 yen) so I expected expensive shipping. SAL Parcel shipping. But it turned out that my order is too costly for the Russian customs (be damned, you greedy customs b*tches, who violated my previous box to such extent that it traveled all over the country OPENED) to send it via SAL so EMS it was. I was like: Ahahaha, oh, wow, I have to pay extra 2440 yen more for shipping than I expected, 8440 yen, WTF! AmiAmi, are you mad?

I e-mailed AmiAmi about possible splitting to lessen the costs. I actually told them I want to lessen the costs. And I worded it exactly the same. Seems like AmiAmi stuff is not familiar with the meaning of 'lessen' - you know what? They split the order in two. And the total shipping for SAL Parcel was like.. around 10000 yen! Struggling hard not to sound rude I wrote another letter about how I wanted to combine my order back to finally save on shipping.

Today I got another invoice. With the same very order. Exactly the same order combined. EMS. And you know what? It was already 9400 yen. I cannot express how pissed off I am now. I sent them an e-mail but I guess I will never get a consistent reply about where did they find these extra 500g for my EMS box.

So, what's the moral of this story? Never try to save on shipping with AmiAmi. You will lose.

P.S. Is there any better place to shop? I don't think I want to go through all these overcharges anymore. Enough is enough.

UPD. Solved! In my favour. Sorry for the late update, I only had my phone until now, and it's just not very convenient to update an entry that way. Here's a message I got from AmiAMi right after my invoice was updated:

Hi, Dina.

Thank you for mailing us.

We apologize for the inconvenience and have re-invoiced your order. The
order was mistakenly invoiced with a larger box on the second invoice.

We saw your second mail sent after this regarding this same issue and
understand your frustration. If you spot a mistake, you can kindly let us
know and we will be happy to fix it. Please understand that when processing
thousands of orders a day, human error is inevitable. It has nothing to do
with the quality customer service.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for shopping at AmiAmi.

Sincerely,
AmiAmi

wingman13 (1 year ago) #1212340Since when did I say I hate you? I don't hate anyone. I just think you were being a little unfair to a store over a simple mistake and wrote my explanations. Would you rather I just tell you "You're wrong" without backing it up? I am disagreeing with you and letting you know exactly why. If you would rather talk about me personally rather than actually responding to my explanations then, well, it's hard to take what you say as the "truth." *shrug*

I'll do you a favor and take my leave now.

This store was trying to solve this small problem for three days, made it more complicated and then also made a mistake in final invoice. Am I really being unfair? Well, they solved it nicely, but it took time and caused me quite a number of inconveniences. It should have been easier than that. What do I have to say about myself? It was me who started it. I did cause this whole trouble. And I actually knew that long before you started this conversation - it's rather obvious, no need for further discussion.

ponnie (1 year ago) #1212330You're so consistent in telling people they are being inconsistent, it's getting really tiresome. I get your point (you hate me for reasons), but why do you keep writing it all over again? Well, that's a rhetoric question, I see that you are being very consistent about being consistent. There is one good point you can take into consideration: you can save yourself quite some time by telling the truth in one sentence instead of elaborate and shadowy rhetorics.

wingman13 (1 year ago) #1212317You can write whatever you want to write but if you're going to be inconsistent then don't get mad when people call you out on those inconsistencies.

You're writing about your reactions to a situation and I'm simply writing my reaction to your reaction. You're "sick of being nice" yet you will only be (almost disgustingly) nice when there's something to gain for yourself (eg. using flattery to get a cancellation). It sounds to me like you just want people to tell you, "Oh you poor thing. Yeah something similar happened to me too and I know exactly how you feel," but if someone comes and tells you, "Um... It's not entirely the store's fault you know?" and backs it up then it's not OK because this blog post is only for people who agree with you. Have you noticed you've ignored all comments (except mine) saying that this probably isn't all AmiAmi's fault?

Whatever. It's not like you're going to change your opinion and if you want to shop somewhere else then that's your right. This topic just happens to be about AmiAmi but if it were about another store and you were making the same contradicting statements, I would still point them out.

ponnie (1 year ago) #1212292The only overreacting person here is actually you. You write posts this big to make me feel uncomfortable or to protect AmiAmi? I doubt you care for AmiAmi this much.
You should probably learn that different people react to different situations differently. You can stay calm and objective, but I am not like this at all. This is my blog post and I can at least be my inconsistent self here, I'm quite sick of being nice all over IRL. Deal with it.

wingman13 (1 year ago) #1212143Whether an order gets invoiced as EMS or SAL parcel doesn't relate to Russian customs though. It's the physical size of your order, not the price. You can buy a 100K yen figure that's under 90 cm in size and 2 kg in weight and ship it unregistered SAL if you really wanted to. If the root of your overreaction is because your order was invoiced as EMS then isn't that all on you? Your order was invoiced as EMS because YOU ordered items that are too large to all be shipped as SAL parcel. And if you understand that the shipping changing to EMS is not AmiAmi's fault then why are you blaming them? I mean, yeah, so they helped split your order and it turned out costing more than EMS and when they recombined it they chose the wrong box. They still fixed it in the end for you yet you make it sound like they didn't make any effort to help you. You bash them hard when they make a simple mistake and then when they fix it, you give them very little acknowledgment.
You sound very two-sided about the situation. You keep saying that you understand the EMS thing wasn't their fault, but it sounds like you're still blaming them because you're upset your order has to be shipped by EMS whose service sucks in your country. What I basically hear you saying is, "No, I don't blame them, but yes, I do."
Well, whatever. I still think you're blowing this way out of proportion. Major props to AmiAmi and all other customer service for having to deal with these situations and worse day in and day out. I know I, and pretty much everyone here, would not be able to do their job.

Halbred (1 year ago) #1211912Oh lord. Should I be freaking out? I just pre-ordered that Alphamax Mai Shiranui with AmiAmi. I picked EMS for shipping (I live in Alaska) because I didn't know any better. She's not coming out until May, though, so...it's not like I don't have time to change something.
I don't really think you should worry. I don't like EMS because it ultimately sucks in my region.

ponnie (1 year ago) #1211591This shipping price trouble continued for 3 days. Of course I'm overreacting, simply because I didn't expect EMS in the first place. Still, I understand that forced EMS is not AmiAmi's whim, it's all because EMS is the only shipping option that gets priority at Russian customs when the shipment is above certain limit, that's it.

Xyerl (1 year ago) #1211764Actually,I'm wondering if you could request for the item split and do the item combination yourself instead of asking Amiami to do the re-combination for you?
They don't have a split option on their site. You can only combine.

You can change your shipping method on the website. It's under "Update shipping info/payment method" on the "My Account" menu.

I've sent you a message with details, and just to leave a comment here, I completely disagree with you.
First of all, what's wrong with customs? Russian customs incoming limit without paying any taxes is 1000 (one thousand!) euro and shipping doesn't counts. 30000 yen is approximately only 290 euro.
And second, what's wrong with amiami charges, really?? it's absolutely reasonable price for shipment (don't forget about cardboard weight, paypal fee and sales tax -_-""). if your order contains 10 figures and you was charged for 9000 yen, it's only 900 yen per figure, is it so huge amount?? it's 11$ only!
Splitting order will NOT lessen shipping rate in any case, combined shipping is always cheaper =_=

Amiami was very kind with you, honestly, you're too overreacting. I've had some troubles with orders on amiami too, but it was caused by my own mistakes and even when I was a troublemaker/paid not in time, they always help me in timely manner and was very polite.
