iMomo Belia Deviluke 1/8 (Alter)8.33/10

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633812.jpeg

Today we'll be taking a look at another ALTER heroine, Momo Velia Deviluke, from the To Love-Ru series. The series first started out as a manga written by Saki Hasemi and illustrated by the creator of Black Cat, Kentaro Yabuki. The manga was serialized with 18 volumes between 2006 and 2009 in Weekly Shōnen Jump. In 2008, an anime series consisting of a typical 26 episodes aired. This was followed by an OVA between 2009 and 2010. The second season of the anime series consisting of 12 episodes aired in 2010. This was followed by the continuation of the manga which was serialized in 2010 by Shueisha's Jump Square magazine. This follow up was called To Love-Ru Darkness and the anime series for it started airing in late 2012. There has also been several games made from the series on multiple game platforms. Not to spoil things but Momo doesn't make her appearance until pretty late in the series.

Not really sure I can talk about the series without spoiling things so I'll just limit it to Momo. She is sometimes referred to as the "Third Princess of Deviluke" as she has an older sister who is the primary heroine of the series and a twin sister. Even though she has a twin sister, they are not identical in one area. Momo has the larger bust size of the twin sisters which is often a point of contention between the girls. She is very sweet but has a dark side that is the total opposite which is quite frightening.

She was a standard release in June of 2012 and retailed for around 7,800 Yen. At this time she's only available on the secondary market unless you luck out finding the few limited quantities available from the various foreign stores that carry figures. The goal today is to take a closer look at her and what she has to offer.

Please understand a score of 10 will never be given as there is always room for improvement no matter how perfect a figure.

ALTER went with their classic wrap around window box design and layout. The wrap around window is ample and gives you an excellent view of most of the figure. If desired you could leave her in the packaging for display purposes but she really looks best outside the box. The one thing that surprised me is the typical white background was absent and instead the palette used seemed to support the theme of the character quite nicely. The use of her silhouette on the front and back of the packaging adds nicely to the presentation overall. I loved the little logo gimmick they did with her name and it being underlined by a tail which definitely seemed fitting and cute at the same time. The pictures used highlight the figure quite nicely. The presentation overall looked good and their deviation from their classic white was a welcomed change of pace.

Packaging weight and dimensions:
Weight: 335 grams
H: 240 mm
W: 160 mm
D: 150 mm

A lightweight non-corrugated cardboard was used for the packaging. This kept the weight down significantly and the compact nature of the packaging helped somewhat with the overall strength and protection. However the packaging is pretty weak at the at wrap around window panel. Lateral compression resistance is decent but the front with that big window is definitely the weakest. The only thing keeping it from caving in is the adhesive on the window panel whose resilience varies. For the most part they assemble their boxes competently but every once in a while you might get one with insufficient adhesive or one that didn't have a chance to cure correctly resulting in a deficiency in overall strength and protection. In any case the packaging is feather light and compact, protection should be OK as long as the packing isn't sloppy. She should get to you safely without costing too much.

A typical two piece blister was used to encase her. The two pieces were taped together to further strengthen the packaging. The tolerances on the pockets and sockets were sufficient and she shouldn't shift around. Some plastic sheets were used to protect her from rubbing and paint transfer. Note the area around her face was flattened to allow for a clear undistorted view of her face while in the packaging.

Instructions were included on how to install her cellphone but I don't think it was really necessary. However the extra effort and attention to detail was appreciated.

ALTER did a nice job with the packaging. The change from their classic white was refreshing and looks good. Shipping cost shouldn't be an issue and protection is sufficient considering everything. Expectations were basically met.

Sculpting: 9/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡
Sculpting credits go to Tanaka ☆ Sen-u who has a decent number of lovely ladies under his belt for ALTER. Below you can see some of the lovely ladies he's worked on for an idea of what to expect from the K-On girls.

The figure is 1/8th in scale and measures a little over 190 mm tall from the top of the base to the top of her head. Her only accessory is her cell phone. I'm not sure if there is anything special about it but if you note it's an older style flip phone. Surprisingly the flip phone style is popular in Japan unlike the western countries where they're viewed as antiquated. Apparently the name for her phone is "Dedial" and it isn't an ordinary phone?

Now that you've had a chance to see her please keep in mind she looks a lot better in person. Let's start with her lovely face. They did a nice job with her face as she looks good from various profiles. The transition from her jawline to neck and shoulders was seamless and looks natural. I love what they did with her mouth as that half smile looks so cute. Head on or from the side her lips and nose look good on that heart shaped face of hers. Basically her face and features seem accurate to the character design which is what I expected from Tanaka ☆ Sen-u.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633886.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633884.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633888.jpeg
Her hair is nicely detailed from her bangs to the pigtails. She does have the typical seam line at the top of her head that you see on most figures and it is somewhat distracting. I think they could have done a better job in minimizing it but it's not the end of the world. Her pigtails are attached pretty solidly at least for mine but care should be taken that they don't get caught on something. Aside from the seam line her hair looks good from all sides and matches up nicely with the character design.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633812.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633818.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633822.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633828.jpeg
Moving on down, I can't help but admire the Décolletage. Her bare shoulders look great as well as the hint of her cleavage and breasts. The transition from her shoulders to arms look natural and for the most part they did a nice job on her hands and fingers. Note the jewel in her necklace. It's hard to see but at least for mine they didn't polish it that well and you actually have excess material from a mold spill off running the entire diameter of the jewel. It's not that big of a deal but I do wish they could have at least polished it better as it is somewhat distracting. In any case I love the job they did with her choker especially the transition from her neck to her shoulders.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633587.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633589.jpeg
Moving on, you can see her dress is detailed and fits her frame perfectly. It really looks like she's wearing the dress with how the material confirms to her body and the way it wrinkles and folds. The transition points look natural and there wasn't any seams in sight. Like her bare shoulders, her back looks just as great. They are nicely defined and detailed. The transition from them to her dress looks great as well. The various parts of her dress was pretty rigid so care should be taken less something gets caught and broken. One thing to note, look at her straps. They are not carved out of her. They actually made straps to put in. I really love it when they put that effort into the details. They could have gone the cheap route and carved the straps out of her torso and painted it over. They didn't and it was noted and appreciated.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633310.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633320.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633316.jpeg
Moving on down to her skirt, you can see she's got a zettai ryouiki going on here. It's difficult to see with the design of the skirt and her pose but it looks like it's at least a Grade A. All I can say is that's darn sexy. Her tail is attached pretty solidly and it's pretty sturdy running the entire length. I love job they did with the tip of her tail and even that was pretty sturdy. The flex in her tail should help with resisting damage but I wouldn't test it. Like the rest of her, her skirt is pretty rigid and sharp as well.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633210.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633212.jpeg
Taking a peek under her skirt you encounter some old fashion undies. Even though a lot of flesh is covered up you can still see some details especially the shape of her butt cheeks. You can tell she's got a butt that just won't quit. Her undies are detailed and look pretty realistic in the way the material contours to her curves. The transition from her flesh to material is seamless and looks natural. The same can be said for the thigh high socks. They did a decent job with the transition from her thighs to her socks as it looks natural as well. Got to love that zettai ryouiki.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633206.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633208.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633204.jpeg
Speaking of her socks, look at the details put into them. It's somewhat hard to see due to the colors and patterns but you can see various wrinkles and details. It really looks like she's wearing those socks by the way they wrinkle at her knees and ankles and how some parts seem to bunch up. The shape of her curvy and lovely legs are accentuated further by the socks but especially those exposed thighs of hers. Her shoes look good as well and the transition from her socks to the shoes look natural as well. It really looks like she's wearing the shoes. All I can say is I love her legs.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633091.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633083.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633081.jpeg
Tanaka ☆ Sen-u did it again bringing a character to life in figure form. She appears faithful to the character design and is nicely detailed. She was executed very nicely and I hope there are more girls from the sculptor. ALTER did a nice job with the fit and finish. She was assembled expertly with really no issues at all. My only gripe is the seam line at the top of her head as I think they could have minimized it better but it's not the end of the world since most figures do have this "issue" one way or another. Overall my expectations were met and exceeded for this little cutey.

ALTER usually colors their figures competently with all the tools available. This figure isn't any different from their usual fair. Whether you look at the sculpting or paint job, the fit and finish on her was top notch.

Starting with her face you can see her eyes were placed precisely and look accurate to the character design. And she has a blush as advertised. Going back to her mouth/lips, I just love the job they did with it in both the sculpt and coloring of it. Her half smile looks so cute because she reminds me of a cat smiling. Her complexion is fair and contrasts nicely with her outfit and hair. Looking at the rest of her skin that is exposed I have to say that is one of the best tint jobs I've seen for flesh tone. Normally you need some airbrushing but the tinting was spot on and looked very lovely. I say it rivals native's execution as well.

Speaking of her hair, you can see it isn't one flat color but various shades adding to sculpted details. You get a sense of depth and volume as if the hair is alive. I really think they could have used some of that to help minimize the seam line on the top of her hair though.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633812.jpeg
Looking at the rest of her outfit at first glance it might look like they didn't do much, but you couldn't be more wrong. Look closely at the details and effort they put into her outfit. Look at how precise the lines were painted. I mean it's so precise especially on the collar I can't tell if it's really paint or decals. Look at the black in her dress. It isn't one flat color but various shades and as well as a faded/distress effect as well to accentuate the details further. The same can be said for the green bodice/vest thing. The green trim was painted precisely and the lighter green isn't one flat color but various shades.

A lot of attention was put into her socks. First look at those lovely thighs of hers. I can't get enough of them. The flesh tone looks fantastic and I loved the job they did with the transition to the socks with the shading and accents. The socks themselves, look at the striping. Again they didn't just paint flat colors but put a faded/distress effect into each stripe. This wasn't a rush job but a labor of love.

ALTER did a fantastic job coloring her. Her palettes seem close enough to the character design and it looks like they brought her to life. I couldn't help but note the effort and attention to detail they put into her. It was the little things that just added up. Expectations were met and possibly exceeded.

Posing: 8/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡♡
There really isn't much to say here. I haven seen the series or read the manga. So no idea if this pose is based off of a scene from either. The descriptions from the various stores don't really give a hint either. So I can really only judge the pose on it's on merits in regards to aesthetics. Based on the description of the figure, she is holding "Dedial" and shushing you while giving you a mischievous grin. That seems to align with what I know of her personality but still not sure what exactly is being acted out. In any case it does look cute. Note how her legs and feet are placed in an unsteady position further adding to her adorableness. It does seem somewhat weird in that it looks like she's flying without wings. In any event the pose looks fine but I just don't know enough to say anymore.

As for display options you basically have only two. With and without her phone. There really is no point to not use the phone. Display wise she seems best at eye level or around it. She does work below eye level if not to far down. The only real reason to display her high is if you want to peak under her skirt.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358634036.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358621283.jpeg
All in all, they did an OK job. It is a cute pose but I just don't know enough about her to say anymore. I guess expectations were met.

No clues this time, but I'll bump up the points from 11,000 to 11,500 points. 8Þ

Base: 7.5/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡
Not really much to say here. The base is pretty plain but it gets the job done. It isn't too big as you can see. You shouldn't have any problems finding a spot to display her since she isn't a space hog.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358632955.jpeghttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358632957.jpeg
The mounting is stable and sturdy enough. You should be able to mount and dismount from the base without much issues. They put minimal effort into the looks but it isn't a deal breaker.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/StarshipPooper1358633077.jpeg
The base gets the job done. Not much else can be said.

Enjoyment: 9/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡
Enjoyment of a figure is subjective as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are many ways to "judge" the enjoyment of a figure. I'm just trying to make this as simple as possible. Basically it comes down to money. Do I feel she was worth the cost of acquiring her? Looking at the attention to detail they put into her in regards to sculpting and coloring. The overall presentation and execution? I'd say she was worth it and I do not regret owning her. If I had to do it again I would get her again without a second thought. She's a cute and lovely figure that is nicely detailed and put together very nicely. My expectations were met and possibly exceeded and I can't wait for the next girl from Tanaka ☆ Sen-u. I also want to learn more about Momo and the series.

Great review with tons of pics. Momo is my favorite girl from To Love-Ru. Haven't read any of Darkness yet, but I'm sure it's great if it has her and Yami in the forefront.

This shot really gets me man. Those legs are gorgeous. I've had her on my wish list for too long. I love her mischievous nature. It's incredibly sexy. I just hope she's available now for a good price. She's worth full price imo.

Nic review as usual, but I don't really care for her. Pink Hair seems to be the theme for the last few reviews.
