iBig Milestone Met!!!n/a

Yeah, for me!!! While entering the keychains that I already have in my collection and receiving more over the past three days I have gone over the #600 mark!!! Hooray!!!!!

The thing that makes me really excited is that I haven't put in all of the 400+ GE keychains that I have, or the all of the 3D keychains that I have, or the pencil boards, and DVD collection in. My keychains are the start of my collection and I build on that collection with other complementary items.

You can see two pictures of what I do with the keychains on my webpages here.

So, who out there has a huge collection out there?
How much of the main item you collect do you have?
How do you display your collection?
Or, what plans do you have for your collection in the future when you get the room you always wanted? (I have a future plan that my husband says I like to geek out on)he, he, he ask me and I just might tell it.

P.S: With the 19 or more pre-orders I have out there I will be close to the #1000 mark by my birthday in December. Yeah, I have earned the nickname "Keychain Lady" I am shooting for Queen!!!!! LOL!

Katto (1 year ago) #1452232Hahaha! Keeping the receipts is great :P I do the same thing. Though how much I spend doesn't matter too much so long as it's not dipping into everything else that's important ;)
You sounds just like me. I refuse to be burned more than once, since two times, you're starting to see a trend there...
Displaying anything can be tough, especially since we never have the amount of space we want!
Oh wow, awesome! :D We actually do want to travel in the next year or two, so I'll keep it in mind!

No Doubt! Girlfriend. You are so on my radar now. LOL!

SNasabal (1 year ago) #1451556Ahhhh, Yeah! About that...he, he, he My husband wouldn't agree. You see because I keep my pre-orders and my receipts and even shipping receipts he sees just how much money I do spend. The good thing about it is when it comes to insurance, taxes and just basic knowledge of spending habits I have a record of it all. I use the information to see who I received the best deal from and or who pissed me off and why. Let me tell you a bad dealer will not get me three times. I give them only two chances on the serious stuff.
I just had this great idea for my collection that I didn't think of before. Thanks Katto! I don't think of myself as a very artistic person so trying to figure out ways to display my keychains is rather challenging for me. I think I will start pre-designing my shadow boxes. I never did think about doing that before. Hummmm! I wonder if that would work out for me.
Oh, yeah Girl! My bag!!! LOL! I read that you were in Aussie Land. Let me tell you I own my own travel agency so whenever you want to come visit me. LOL! Just let me know and we'll get you all booked. As a matter of fact my husband and I are hosting a 7 day cruise out of Barcelona, Spain in 2014 you and your hubby should join us. It would be great to have you both.

SNasabal (1 year ago) #1451562I've been trying to get across the pound to your area for some time. I am going to have to make sure that when I do go there is a Con going on. Which one have you been to that you like the best?

Definitely the summer conventions, as they have the best atmosphere. This year is Ayacon and next will be Amecon. Not sure what will happen in the summer the year after as Ayacon is running for the last time this year but I bet something will fill the void. There's another called Kitacon which runs in March. I've never been to it but it has a good reputation.

Carmina (1 year ago) #1449729Ah Sakura-Con is US based isn't it, so expensive for me to go to. Over here we have MCM Expo in London, which is the biggest event and usually gets the best guests. The main fan-run events are Ayacon and Amecon, which run in the summer. Nothing like the numbers of US cons though, roughly around 1500 people. This year I also did a con called Minamicon, which is tiny, in the region of 400 people, so doesn't get any guests but is still good fun.

Katto (1 year ago) #1449958I'd really like to think I have a great relationship ^_^ We're actually both techie, but he's the one who spends heaps of money on it :P He loves video games a ridiculous amount more than me, he's the reason why I have so many (he asks me to buy certain games so we can play together haha).
Thank you! :D My collection is something I'm incredibly proud of since I'm the kind of person who jumps from hobby to hobby because I lost interest, this is the first time it hasn't happened! Running a hobby like a business sounds like a good model though, since then you don't spend as much money as you otherwise would!

SNasabal (1 year ago) #1449601Katto~ You sound like you have a great relationship like I do. My husband is the techie and the Comic Geek here in the family. He does have some favorites in the anime as well but his crack is the American Comics. I believe he is a DC freek! LOL!
I have to say that your collection is really impressive for just a year of collecting. I really have been getting more and more over a 6 year period. The thing that I had to learn was how to order the item that I collect. It really took me a long time to figure out the "Pre-Order" is KING. If, you don't get it on pre-order you might not get the item at all. I also knew about the JIT that the Japanese invented just took me forever to get in sink with my vendors and or find vendors that offer reasonable prices. Hell, my husband made me do a Braakeven point for my individual keychains that I can't go over. I damn near run my hobby like a business with no profit. LOL!

SNasabal (1 year ago) #1449610Yeah! Just what I was going for. LOL! :-) Thanks Carmina! You should have came this year to Sakura-Con he had 3 autograph sessions and attended the Guest Dinner. I learned the hard way that the guess dinners/get together that most Cons have are worth the price. You are able to really talk to the industry people that come and get more than one item signed. It also allows you to really enjoy the Con better because your not spending most of it waiting in long lines.
Which Cons do you go to?

Carmina (1 year ago) #1448868Wow, that is pretty awesome! Vic did come to a convention here about a year ago but by the time I got to line up for his signature they were turning people away, so sadly I missed out on that. Those keychains are pretty cute too. So yeah, I am a little envious! :)

Katto (1 year ago) #1448595I'm personally quite proud of my figure collection although it's not quite as large as some people. I've only been collecting for a year and I already have almost 300 figures ^_^
My manga collection is about the same with over 300 items in just over a year. I have about 80ish artbooks too :D I've only had disposable income for a bit over a year so I'm really happy with it :D
Then the games ahaa! Luckily my partner is incredibly supportive of it all :) He loves to buy technology and I love to buy anime-relevant goods, so we always bounce off each other in our excitement :D

What is with the crazy obsession with people who collect things all of a sudden on TV? Hoarders is about people that keep EVERYTHING, including 10 year old trash. Collection Intervention sounds bad, like they try to tell you it's a bad thing to collect. That's not how it was right? Then there's My Crazy Obsession and My Collection Obsession on TLC. I haven't watched the first one, but I watched an episode of the second and it was actually nice! This one lady had over 4000 snowmen, but it was so organized and they didn't make her out to seem crazy. Which I found pretty nice. I watched and episode of Clean House and I raged so hard when they made some lady sell her entire collection of Disney figures. Rawr.
You've got a long way to go though. The Guinness Record for most keychains is over 41000. Are there that many anime keychains out there I wonder?
Isn't it wonderful to have a supportive spouse? My collection has grown exponentially thanks to mine. And I'm with you, I mostly wear pants and a cute shirt and that's it. Clothes are a rarity around here. More money for stuffs!
I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm working on it! Whenever I get it done, I'll make to let you know!

I think the shows are a way for people to show off their collections as we all would like to share and also unfortunately a way for others to ridicule, condemn and destroy the way someone else collects. In other words force someone to be more like another persons view of how they should behave and function. I know that there are a lot of people that do have some mental issues. Heck! Don't we all. I just wish that close family and friends should be trying to help them way before it becomes to embarrassing for them. How many times can we all remember asking a love one for help on some thing and they would ignore us, or tell us to "Just get over it!" I hate that phrase more than anything. If, I could have just gotten over it I wouldn't be asking for help fool! Anyway, I would rather a close family or friend tell me the truth. Like, I really don't know how to help you but I am willing to support you in what you find to help yourself. Ok, that was my soapbox about those shows. I've only watched one episode of "Hoarders" and it was painful to watch the way they handled both of the women. In all honesty it was a show all about the children that grew up with those women and how they were messed up by their behavior. I think the SyFy one is off the air now I missed the whole only one season there.

Now as for the world record. I tried to look it up and couldn't find anything. Where did you get your info? I am interested now more than ever to see who, where and how much with keychains in only "anime" category.
