iAmiAmi Pre-Owned Reviewn/a

A lot of people show hesitation when they see an item that says Box: B on AmiAmi's pre-owned section. I've seen a few reviews for item condition from AmiAmi, but I figured the more we show everyone, the more we can show everyone that B boxes are typically perfect! (If anyone wants me to do any C box/item reviews, let me know and I can do it when possible.)

I ordered the Cure Aqua S.H. Figuart, Item: A, Box: B. I did send it Unregistered SAL with some Azone glasses. ^^; But the AmiAmi box itself had no damage, so it didn't receive any shipping damage while in transit. I'll be showing photos of the box and blister. (Since I consider the blister as part of the box.)

Here's the images:

Front of box, as you can see it looks almost brand new! The front viewing panel has a few scuffs and scratches, nothing major.

The sides of the box. The bottom corner on one side is a bit worn, but I'd expect that from even a new box on occasion.

Back of the box. You can still see the worn corner from the back, and the top left corner has a pretty big scuff on it. (Not sure if it's noticeable in photos though.)

Top of box. Few minor scuffs.

Bottom of box. I left the AmiAmi condition sticker on it, mainly because I never take it off xD;

Blister condition. From what I can tell, it's perfect. I don't know for sure if the box had even been opened originally.

Now that's just one B box item. They can differ so drastically in condition, but with B boxes/items I've never had issues. ^^; Aqua was rated an A for the item condition, as is correct. I don't think it had ever been opened, and I doubt she'd ever been posed. (Can you tell I accidentally popped all the accessories out when opening the blister? XD They flew all over my floor..)

Does anyone worry about box condition when ordering pre-owned items? Item condition is probably top priority to everyone here, but I know quite a few of MFCers love their boxes TOO, so I'm curious to know how picky you let yourself be when looking at pre-owned items. :3 Or do you totally avoid the pre-owned items because you feel it's too much of a gamble?

For the most part, I try to only go for items with a box quality of B- or higher. However, if the item itself is listed as B+ or higher, I'm willing to go with a lower quality box as there's less chance the figure itself will be damaged.

My June order has four A/B figures in it. I don't mind if the boxes are a little worn at the edges or minor scrapes, as long as it isn't too bad. The only B box items I've gotten so far looked new, aside from scrapes on the bottom of the box that are only noticeable if you angle it just right.

I like my boxes but I know I won't be able to keep them perfect forever, so having the figures I want is more important. I wouldn't want to buy anything less than B though and I stick with A rated items.

gumonshoe (9 months ago) #1588476 The worst is finding pubes in the package...
Wow.. that must be quite the bonus. Wouldn't wanna know how the pubes got in the package.
I tend to be very skeptical about purchasing anything with a lower rating than Item B+/Box B. I do agree though with the box ratings being all over the place. From my experience B boxes can range from being mint, to having very minor scratches, to having very visible dents, etc.

Exand (9 months ago) #1588473From past experience (not from AmiAmi) an item that has box B, figure A (box damage / blister unopened) can potentially be damage to the figure that's undetectable until you take the figure out. In my case cracked internal joints from what was probably the impact that caused the box to be damaged.
So I'm very leery of buying a figure that has more than minor scratches on the box.

I concur with this. My experience was with A/C item. Sealed item + beat up box = unseen damage to the figure.

I have bought plenty of preowned...if I find time I will post some.

B figures may have some minor blemishes and stains...will often have dust and finger prints on the figure. Some have had heat damage (pvc melting). The worst is finding pubes in the package...

Box grades are all over the place.

Overall I am ok with the figure ratings...but I imagine hardcore collectors would be more particular.

I'm that picky until I only buy A/A items from AmiAmi. But then I was lucky because the items I was hunting actually came up with A/A on AmiAmi. Might opt for A/B if I was desperate.
