Figure shop and site reviewn/a
Hi I started this club so that people could discuss the shops and sites they use to buy figures. Please add a new discussion for the shop/site you want to talk about since it will make it easier for other people to find information on this shop/site in the future.
Actual feedback for shops can be left and seen here (mfc link)
Update : I added a new poll option to all the shop discussions so you can now rate all the shops from 1-5
1: Horrible
2: bad
3: fine
4: good
5: great
This club is dedicated to web based anime/figure ...ect shops for physical ("brick and mortar") stores please visit Local Shopping Guides

Did anyone know back ordering from amiami need to wait how long?? it is really need to wait 1-2 weeks for confirmation of stock like what Amiami says in FAQ?
I backordered some straps, and it took about 1 week for them to get back to me.

I've backordered with them twice, and both times it took me about two weeks.

I think time varies depending on the item; I backordered before and I got confirmation within the week of ordering ^^

Bought a bunch more stuff from YAJ, this time through FromJapan as my proxy.
For comparison with Buyee, here's the cost breakdown:
Overall:
Item cost: 27.4k yen (base)
Auction fee: 2.6k yen (FromJapan)
System usage fee: 2.7k yen (FromJapan)
Domestic shipping fee: 8.0k yen (base)
Bank transfer fee: 2.5k yen (FromJapan)
EMS shipping: 11.2k yen (base)
Overall, 27.4k worth of items, with 19.2k of shipping cost, and only 7.8k of FromJapan fees. Each item was essentially 200 bidding + 168 bank transfer + (item cost x 5%) in fees, which on average turns out to be 450 yen or $4.50 extra per item. That's a LOT better than Buyee. Final cost would have been much better if I chose the uninsured domestic shipping choices for everything (those 500+ yen domestic shipping costs add up!). 3 figures, 4 ceramic mugs, and a music box = higher shipping costs, but I have a feeling domestic shipping isn't as dangerous as international.
I'll be sticking with FromJapan as my YahooAuctionsJapan/Amazon.jp proxy, but only for the rare stuff as these extra shipping costs are biting hard ; /

So here's what ended up happening with Buyee.
Bought a ton of stuff from YAJ:
Overall:
Item cost: 48.4k yen (base)
Domestic shipping fee: 9.5k (base)
Auction fee: 14.7k (Buyee)
Consolidation fee: 5.3k (Buyee)
EMS shipping: 15.1k (base)
Overall, for 48.4k worth of items, there's 24.6k of shipping costs and 20.0k of Buyee fee. Assuming shipping costs can't be avoided, the total Buyee fees end up almost 40% the price of the items. If you think about it, with each item being 500+200+300 yen in fees, that's an extra $10 you're paying for each item (even if it's a $5 or less item). Owch. Yup, not using Buyee ever again (ironically, it's still cheaper than when I used ShoppingMallJapan, but still, harsh). Too bad didn't hear about the other proxies til today :(

Ah right, I'm rather use to it since TJ charges the blanket 3.8% across all transactions to cover PayPal fees. Similar deal with FJ though with them you can avoid the 5% fee by placing money into your FJ account. Doing that means you just get whatever your bank charges in fees rather than that 5%.I see. There is still so much about proxies I should learn about before using their services. I always get blindsided by SOME sort of charge I didn't anticipate until its too late. Dang bank transfer fees, commission fees, etc. >.< Thanks for that tidbit of info though. I haven't used TJ before, but I can say that FJ is dependable and their services ARE reasonably priced for cheaper items. Moral of the story: Do as much research on a proxy as possible and make sure ALL charges are understood before making a purchase.
