With the new Star Wars movie coming and maybe all the new collectibles I have to ask, what was the reason again to not accepting all the movies as origins ?

Since I see Ichiban Kuji CDs in the database, can I add a CD that has no JAN code? @_@ The item is under Hako Quest line, which I believe is also a kuji (or at least everything is random chance, except the 'Special Quest' item.)

hikaridranz (13 days ago) #3361001I think it's still easiest to google the item name in JP + JANコード
if there's no relevant result it's going to be hard to find (´・ω・`)

Yeah that's what I normally do, haha! But I have such underground stuff from not very well known series. Q.Q The other way around always works though, google an ISBN/JAN and get a pile of results and information!

Eccmy (13 days ago) #3364798Suruga-ya's Anshin Kaitori mode (ext link) and Book-Off online (ext link) are very reliable and efficient sites when it comes to searching for JAN/ISBN codes of games and books (and goods as well in Suruga-ya's case). They're all in Japanese though and you'll need to use Japanese keywords to do your searches.

Thanks for the links, saved! :)

Bones (13 days ago) #3364719Is there a rule in the Guidelines to use always the origin provided by the manufacturer? Even if a character never appears in this origin? It would be great if a MOD could clarify this. There's no explicit rule written out since we expect most members to use common sense and follow the manufacturer without getting their personal opinions involved. Always follow what the manufacturer specifies. :) Also do not link more than one origin if the manufacturer doesn't specify it. For example, if a figure of Mugi was from the first season of K-On! don't add in the origins K-On!, K-On!!, and the K-On movie just because she shows up in all 3 series. I hope that answers your question ^^

Edit: Because I need to point this out obviously there are exceptions to this rule since manufacturers can be lazy, some characters may not appear in an origin despite having the manufacturer saying they are, etc. This is why we do not have an explicit rule in the FAQ. Use your best judgement when adding/editing an entry and if you have questions about it rather than editing it right away come ask staff. Give the whole story and we will be able to answer your questions.

I also have another question. Is there any website or place to check all JAN/ISBN codes for books and/or games? I have multiple items I would like to add to the database, but I can't find their JAN/ISBN (I normally stick to Wikipedia or see the listing on Amazon, but I now have stuff which is too underground lol).

Suruga-ya's Anshin Kaitori mode (ext link) and Book-Off online (ext link) are very reliable and efficient sites when it comes to searching for JAN/ISBN codes of games and books (and goods as well in Suruga-ya's case). As a JAN freak, I can tell you it truly depends on which kind of product you want to add for regular and new (even some old) I have this Tutorial see if can help you (mfc link) for older stuff or event exclusives you must do what user Hikari said start searching JP name + their JAN, the easiest way is in Rakuten since there you can find several stores that uses JAN codes, hope I could help you! if you need further help to track them feel free to send me a message ;)
