Tomoe (6 months ago) #18681845Can somebody tell me or show me a picture to let me know how bad her lean is? I'm a little paranoid about my Homura since I think mine has started to lean too but it must've happened over such a slow period of time that I can't even tell if mine is normal or not :x I think I'd like a custom rod for her too just to help support her - if anybody has any good recommendations for getting a good rod in the US please let me know!

I took these before I got a rod for mine:

From what I've heard from others, my case wasn't even as THAT bad. Here are after rod photos for comparison:

The main point too look out for is her spine. It should be relatively straight. If yours looks fine, I'd recommend not fiddling with her or you might cause the lean, like it happened to me.

If it IS leaning, I got my rods from TAP plastics ([ext link ]). They were the only company I got a hold of that'd let me decide a custom length for the rods for a small extra fee. You want a rod length of 13cm, diameter should be relatively small like 8-10mm. The folks at TAP should be able to hook you right up with the needed rod.

Other than that, I recommend getting some foam pads for both ends of the rod to avoid scratching. I personally got some relatively large square ones off ebay and used scissors to get them the right size, you'll want to either get ones that are adhesive on only one side (the rod side), or double sided but keeping the protective paper on the side you're gonna prop her up with so she doesn't get all adhesive and stuff under there. I'd also recommend them being a bit on the thicker side so they really cushion her well and avoid the edges, I cut my pads a bit larger than the actual rod so there'd be excess draping over the edge for extra safety, but that might be overkill, not 100% sure :V

Then just put the thing in. You may need to place it at a bit of an angle due to the curved base, so it doesn't slide off, but it's not too hard :)
