for me the half ball is not such a problem
with the ball as stand its pretty simple to make a flashy stand like this link by yourself

This would have rivaled BRS with the full ball, but I've ordered it regardless as it still looks awesome.

Ah Shidd like you say bases I know your talking about plain plastic disc types and not Diorama like bases...Things like Saber Lilly, BRS, and Cannan who had more diorama-ish bases were shown as such from the start like you mentioned yourself.
Ah either way this whole thing is just...grrr...Its a part of the figure and I'd kill to know what they plan to do with it at release...*sigh*

There is plenty. And mainly to bases ^^ Good examples are Nendos, but even scale ones are displayed on clear circle bases while they end up with something different. Late example Jubei
Then again, in this case, base is part of scuplture (like GSC Canaan, Alphard etc) =/
I think, those shots that are on Akiba for example, are usually done in Manufacturer Companies. Either they take them on their own or they do some kind of press conferecne and hes VIP ^^ So they use same figure/prototype that was used on official shots.
I just hope they wont release 1/2 ball as standard and then do some Limited FULL BALL edition and rape all who ordered this ^^;;
