I agree as well. I remember finding the oh so elusive Hatsune Miku from GSC about 8 months after it was long sold out for about 66 dollars at a US store. Of course, I sold her off at this point so it's a distant memory, but man, you should've seen how happy I was that day.
Though, usually, I'm sure most of us are far more interested in the upcoming figures.
For the most part, even though the exchange rate is bad, I think I'll stick with Japanese retailers for now, since they are able to deliver their figures far faster than US retailers. If the cost is about the same like Nyx said, then you may as well choose the option that can ship it out faster.
But... then again, if the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Japanese Yen gets ridiculously out of hand, I might have to cancel figures rather than switch to US retailers, as I'm sure the US will end up charging the same amount in the converted dollar amount.
I think it's funny how this became a discussion on exchange rate, shipping times, and the difference between JP and US retailers lol.
Anyways, to make my post relevant. Jubei. Uh... Maybe I should buy another? lol. She is one of my few favorite figures to ever be conceived by the human mind.

xionvaOne good thing about retailers is that often you can find figures that have already been released in Japan for a while sitting in their stock. They'd be impossible to get from Japan, and are really overpriced on ebay, but are at release price from those retailers.
That's true. I have had some luck finding figures that were sold out elsewhere in US stores for a reasonable price. Also, when there are sales they have some really good deals too.

NyxxionvalkyrieI don't think the US retailers are much cheaper overall. You might not pay as much for shipping, but you pay more for the base item (unless they're having a sale or something). Since they need to do the Yen conversion too, and although they ship in bulk to make shipping cheaper, they need to make some profit too, so what you might be saving on shipping is added to the cost of the store fees.
I agree. I did try to buy from US stores for certain figures to compare but it ended up being around the same. Sometimes they're a little cheaper, but sometimes more expensive and I don't think it really justifies the wait. I'm not incredibly impatient but I don't like waiting so long for something that's already released.

I just got her, and she is so gorgeous! Much better than I was expecting, there is just something about her that is not conveyed well in photos. I think she is already one of my favorite figures!
