Metrogenic (1 year ago) #9692344This is one of the most interesting figures I've purchased within the last few years.
1. It's from a popular (niche) title
2. It's a popular character
3. It's designed by a legendary sculptor (REFLECT)
4. It's not Bayonetta
5. It's a divergence from the orignal design (which makes sense given the sculptor)
6. Sculpts have been all about movement lately; this one has none
7. It's from a new (despite a spin-off of an existing) brand
There are points that I haven't even touched on here, and it's almost impossible to call how this figure will be handled.
And in the end?
Happy customers, some strange activity in the ratings (one zero, two sixes, two sevens, eight tens) and a steep climb in price.
Predictions? This is only getting one release. It's a character from a favorite series, and a major one at that. However, the show is about to send with Danganronpa S3, the character will be too obscure to reproduce just for that (read: not Saber) and will likely increase two to three times in value. Given that the figure is already expensive, I expect it to reach only about twice its retail value, but the fact that Flare is an unknown name, and given that its past and future releases are making a name for the brand, it could go higher. I really don't expect this in the bargain bin, especially since they were supposedly made to order, and Alter knows their stuff. Essentially, valuing this figure is a shot in the dark (unlike most), and I'm looking forward to seeing how the aftermarket value of it stands up.
Sorry for the long-winded analysis/guess; I'll let that SolarisJapan spam take the top spot again in a second.
