omo (3 years ago) #986285I've been seeing a lot of anime con dealers selling this and other sets of prize figures. Does anyone know why/where they got the stuff from? Is it legit?

Dealers usually have some sort of wholesale connection that allows them to get figures at lower prices because they buy in bulk with the intent to resell. Easiest way to find out where they get them would be to ask the person running the booth; if they don't know, they would probably be happy to ask their boss for you.

I can say that not every dealer has legit figures, especially at smaller cons, but usually figures sold at conventions are legitimate. I would advise checking to see if there are known bootlegs of the figure before buying it at a con. For instance there are no known bootlegs of this figure according to the page so if you see it at a con it should be legit. Just keep in mind the usual quality of prize and completed figures when buying and you should be fine. :)

Also if you see a dealer selling bootleg figures you should report them to a con official! Can't have them preying on the less informed.
