I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't have a horror story about her. I've had her for a year and a half, in a room with horrible temperature control, and one trip moving to a new apartment, and she's barely leaning. If it comes down to it, I may drill a little hole into her dress and through the pegs and add some small metal rods, but I think I have at least another year before it comes to that. It looks like the pegs just aren't deep enough and the holes are getting a little loose, so it may even be enough to just use some classic liquid nails construction glue to secure her nice and flat onto the pegs and base. I'm never selling her, so I don't have to worry about fixing her up a little as long as the improvements aren't visible.

I'm also a little surprised at the price increase. I got her for $150 (and free shipping by tricking the system) from Rightstuf, and now she's listed as $200 (and obviously out of print).

As someone who got a support rod for her, I can testify that it's really not an end-of-the-world thing. There's recommendations below in the comment section of companies you can commission one from with the specific length required. All you gotta do is put a foam pad on the end and shove it up her butt. It doesn't take a particular knack for craftsmanship.

However, as a perfectionist myself, I do think it's a rather major problem. Sure she looks absolutely freaking fantastic still and am still happy to own her, but she'd look a lot better without the support, and I'd be happier if she didn't need it. I also recognize that some people may take issue with spending over $200 on a figure and then be required to spend more to get her to stay the hell still.

In layman's terms: Mom? Dad? Stop fighting ;-;

LivingDaylight (3 months ago) #17013036you are kidding, right? the figure was made because of movie, so you can wait for other scales of this Homura variant forever.
and never get one.
There's a new sequel movie coming and most likely new devil homura scale. Also there's already alternatives for this scale. The point was this scale has a major flaw, how did you manage to miss the point in my post completely?

Stalgonoff (4 months ago) #16288741"However, she is very simple to fix on your own and depending on your artistic merits you could make a pretty cool stand for her."Nothing is more satisfying than dropping a 200€ on scale, realising it has a major flaw and then having to build a support pillar so that it doesn't break.

Stalgonoff (4 months ago) #16288741"I don't see the point in casting it aside because it is not perfect although I hope that companies learn from it and make future models with better anti-lean measures."Everything i said on my last comment was my opinion/suggestion. There's 2k people who has this figure wishlisted, my point was to warn them that maybe it's better to wait for other homura devil scales or just not buy this one unless you have some skills to build a support for her. I'm sure there's many among those 2k people who would like to know what theyre getting before buying her.

I certainly agree that she could have been engineered better. They could have had a few other points of contact to distribute the weight without sacrificing much aesthetically. However, she is very simple to fix on your own and depending on your artistic merits you could make a pretty cool stand for her. My current fix was dirt cheap and while it doesn't look the best you can't really see it from where she's displayed. She looks amazing and has very few other flaws (mine has a few very small blemishes which don't bother me) and she looks even better side by side with item #98665.
I don't see the point in casting it aside because it is not perfect although I hope that companies learn from it and make future models with better anti-lean measures.

Considering nearly everybody has problem with her starting to lean, it's pretty sad that this is one of the most wanted figures on this site. If i were to give my honest opinion on this, it's that the lower part/base is a completely failure and not very well thought-through. Paying 10-15k+ yen for this is just insane when you consider that you will most likely have to fix the leaning by putting something underneath her. That is if it doesn't snap one day at the shelf by itself. This is just my opinion, but fans should boycott bad design not reward the company for making overpriced shit.

Edit: My suggestion skip this one and wait for the next movie, there will most likely be a new Devil Homura scales coming.

This comment section should be entitled: "Horror Stories of the Leaning Homuras". And this is how I fixed my personal horror story. http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/Miyukichi1479229653.jpeg
I put a Final Fantasy Play Arts body support between the middle of her dress and her base. item #1567

Halcione (4 months ago) #16104471Feel kinda crummy to double post, but relevant, so forgive me >.<
My materials arrived and I got my Homura fixed up. She now has a clear acrylic rod supporting her. I got the rod from TAP plastics, which hiro4 recommended (thanks a ton mate) and got some foam pads from ebay. Here are a few pictures (forgive the quality, I suck at this):
(mfc link) (the rod up-close, the pads are a bit rough because im a clumsy idiot, and it's a shame I couldn't find them in black, but they are nice, thick, and cushion-like so they protect her, ignore the grimy rod, I'll be wiping it today when I get home >.<)
(mfc link)
(mfc link) (Just straight front and back showing her to be properly upright).
(mfc link) (The angle I usually see her in my detolf).
The bottom of her dress is now 16mm off the surface (which the fellas with no lean confirmed to be the standard). I can confirm that 13cm rod is a very good length, my foam pads are rather thick and it all still fits comfortably under her. It seems to be the perfect length if you want to prop her up through the butt as opposed to the crevice between her butt and dress (which sounds to me like it might cause scratches easily since the figure's weight will be resting on the rod edges as opposed to the top surface). Overall, rough pad-cutting aside, I'm pretty satisfied.
I'll be checking again on it later today to see if any scratches developed, the pads are holding strong, and to clean the damn rod because all the handling made it filthy :V

VeIvet_Crowe (4 months ago) #15946929Does she really lean that much? I've heard stories and they scare me into not wanting to buy her >_>

Seems to vary. Some have had no issue, some have had horror stories. Mine is leaning somewhat, but seems to have stopped for a while. I personally find that due to her pose, she actually looks real good even with a slight lean. Her pose also makes it pretty simple to fix/prevent leaning with some kind of support rod since there's just empty air between her base and her center of mass, so you can just shove that stick there and keep her stable without too much hassle.

It's not like she's going to just flop to the side overnight either, so if you notice her starting to lean slowly you have plenty of time to seek out a fix.

It's not a guaranteed issue and it can be fixed relatively easy, so I don't think it should be a major deterrent to getting her if you really like her :)

I'd wager it depends on climate and house temperature. I got her with the first batch, and she hasn't leant at all. We don't get extreme temperatures here though.

I purchased my Homura late December 2015 and have had her on display since early January 2016. She started to lean, so this summer I added a basic support rod to keep her upright. It isn't very refined, but it works for now and making a prettier one in the future shouldn't be too hard. It's a simple wooden dowel that has black electrical tape on both ends to prevent further scratching. (I scuffed her a bit with my first attempts.) It is resting in the crevice behind her bottom, and aside from the initial scuffing there doesn't appear to be any damage done installing it. It's not fastened in place at all so I can remove it at anytime by separating her from her base as normal.

Bought her at the Aniplex booth at Akibafest in Los Angeles last weekend. Great deal, $152 including tax. Going to need to figure out some way to prevent leaning before putting her on display. :)

Hauauau (5 months ago) #15356410Did you order a whole long rod and cut it yourself? Do they offer just a short segment? I wouldn't want to order a whole thing if I don't need to and I wouldn't want it cut into segments that may or not be usable on more than just one figure. Also what diameter did you use for her?

Having ordered mine from the same store, you can specify a small length for your rod, but they'll charge you around $5 extra for the labor.

As for the diameter, a couple people and I thought around 8-10mm was good. In the diameters TAP lets you pick from, 3/8 inches is within that margin. The only problem is they work exclusively in inches, and refused to give me a precise 13cm length because it didn't fall exactly into their inch measurements, so I'll have to cut my down a bit myself anyway >_>'
