Yep, she insists that while she chose to be a pirate captain she wants to finish her schooling. She also works at a maid cafe.

Marika is a busy girl.

I think the only reason she keeps the school uniform on underneath the pirate outfit is so that the original light novels could have the name Miniskirt Space Pirates.
