Just mess around with it a little. Took me a while to figure it out but eventually I got some decent shots. :)

Any tips on capturing your monitor with a camera? :)I prefer setting the camera for the best shot of monitor (depends on it's brightness and room light), then adding 1-2 lamps that light up the object in front of monitor (you can make a tube for direct light even from a journal).
The trick is to compensate the exposure of figure to the level of monitor using external light sources, but not to lighten up the monitor with them (that is why you need direct light).
