About

As I type this intro paragraph (2010.05.29) I'm still very, very new to figure collecting and am finding this site absolutely invaluable in helping me avoid bootlegs, especially as I hunt for deals on eBay. I wish there were more male figures (yes, I've promptly joined that club!) but if there were I'd probably be flat broke right about now...

May 2011: A little more than a year of collecting (I already had a handful before I joined here) and look at what it's become. I never would've believed you if you'd told me. Why didn't any of you warn me!?

June 2012: I think I have problems...
Show(s)
J-dramas (including tokusatsu), some anime & more...
Book(s)
Too many manga to list (mostly BL in nature)
MOE Point(s)
bishonen, catboys, swords, gloves/gauntlets, JoJo's, Kamen Rider
Music
J/K Rock/Pop-- Bump of Chicken, Akeboshi, Avengers in Sci-Fi...

poonkI'm very happy with him, though I'll admit I personally wish the sculpt of his face was a bit more... gorgeous (see my close-up pic of his mug here and my slightly gushing post on the ANN forum). But really, any small nitpick like that is overshadowed by the kick-ass pose of this figure, which I feel leaves more of an impression than any single detail on him. He is definitely one flashy guy and I have him sitting on prime real estate, the topmost shelf of my display case next to the Gyro RAH. Truth be told though-- if I had to choose between this and the (comparably-priced) RAH, I'd go with the RAH. And, it should be noted, I was equally happy with the much less expensive (~$34 total) Rohan Kishibe Master Stars Piece figure I received the same day (though that's probably more of a testament to the quality of the MSP figures than anything).

He really looks great, I want to get him, I just wish he was cheaper or with a better paint job, but still gorgeous like you said!!! That base looks totally awesome, they have to release more prepainted jojo figures!!
Gyro RAH! have to get him too!! I would buy him this month, but can't get anything since I'm moving and I don't have an adress yet ;_; Glad to hear you liked rohan, mine's on my way. Rohan is one of my favorite characters! Hope they continue to release jojo figures in the MSP line, I would love one Dio, Josuke or Ceasar.

poonkSorry it took me so long to respond-- It's really lovely. Loads of full-page colors pics (a few samples here)-- many of which are the manga cover art-- along with a few b&w pages of character profiles, etc. But I bought it solely for the big, glossy color pics and I'm super-happy with it for that reason.

Thanks for the pictures! I think I should get it then! The illustrations are so good!

You have the JOJO6251, how is it? I've been thinking about buying that!

Ahhh, I see. Mine has the YT/SE on the bottom too, which is what led me to believe it was also authentic. The paint job is lovely, and I really like it. (I'm also attempting to collect Kuroshitsuji merchandise, but unfortunately I got into the series much too late for either good prices or the assurance that the items I was getting hadn't yet been bootlegged. I've had good luck so far, though.)

Anyway, thank you for your help. After asking around, including the owners of the store I purchased from (Anime Sekai, which I highly recommend) I'm confidant that mine is also official. Now, if only I can find the others in the series for a reasonable price. =P

So yeah. Thank you again. It's nice to know there are so many helpful fans out there. ^^

poonkNope, my Robin has a rectangular black base but it says YT/SE (for Yana Toboso/Square Enix) and some Japanese text along with the ubiquitous "Made in China" (even legit figures are mostly made in China, after all). I'm fairly confident that the eBay seller I bought from ("isabellaibebe") only sells authentic stuff-- between her(?) prompt direct responses to my "Is this a bootleg?" queries and the reasonable-seeming prices of the figures she lists, I feel comfortable that she's on the up-and-up.

I've also heard that the clear bases often seen on the official pics are just special stands used for trade shows and the like so I no longer take the lack of such a stand as absolute proof of a bootleg. An absence of "YT/SE" and Japanese text on the bottom would be much more telltale, however.

Kuroshitsuji is probably the most frustrating series I'm collecting, due to the proliferation of bootlegs-- a lot of the other figures I'm vying for (Lamento, Togainu no Chi, etc.) are nowhere near as popular and so generally not bootlegged but I'm definitely regretting that I didn't get into figure-collecting until after Kuroshitsuji got popular. This has taught me to try to restrict Kuroshitsuji purchases to trusted, legit stores (for example, I got my Ciel & Sebby Nendoroids through Robert's Anime Corner Store) and to get things as early as possible, before bootleggers have a chance to catch up.

Anyway, I hope that was helpful in some small way, and that your figure is indeed legit. Cheers!

Hi! I see you got the Ciel Phantomhive "Princess Robin" trading arts, and I was wondering if it indeed had a clear base? Mine has a black base, but I still think it's authentic (maybe 70/30 percent sure).

Anyway, greetings from an even newer newbie than yourself. =D

Though I'm very late in responding (actually, I never expected such prompt greetings!), thank you Tenma and others for such a warm & immediate welcome to the site! As I mentioned in my current profile-- which I just filled out tonight-- I'm still quite new at figure collecting and as a new collector am finding this site very useful for avoiding bootlegs and I find myself referencing it regularly. As this is a new-ish hobby of mine, I hope eventually to become more of a regular with time.

(Guess I should pick out an avatar now, right? *done*)
