The more you own....The more you own....

ebchmanebchman4 years agoLoot
Hello everyone!

Back from the dead to share (read: show off) my loot that's been piling up.

It's been a long 5 months since my last loot blog blog/7751&b... and boy did I take my procrastination for unboxing to a whole new level.

Thank you as always to all the regular readers and the new ones.

I'm gonna split the loots into 2 parts. Part 1 is for goodies bought from shops other than AmiAmi. Part 2 is for AmiAmi goodies.

So, without further ado, enjoy the pics!

PART 1

Starting off with the much maligned GSC delivery of Snow Miku 2013 and YANA Homura. Surprisingly, there was no fuss over the delivery of my order compared to the debacle experienced by the other MFC members. Lucky. "Shipment ready" on 6 August and final delivery on 19 August.

Let's hope GSC learn their lesson and fix their shipping operations from now to avoid future problems.

Moving on....
Courtesy of HLJ:

Nichijou SEGA prize figure sets. All of them are wedged tight so I don't bother taking them out.

The EMS box:

Always love HLJ's range of shipping boxes and how they maximise the use of box space unlike a certain store. Love them air bags too.

Unboxed (along with other stuff from various stores apart from AmiAmi):

Closer look:
Finally, my Banpresto Gurren Lagann Chibi-kyun set are complete with the addition of Simon and Viral. Yoshaaa! Thank you, Mandarake! You are indeed the ruler of time.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004688.jpeg

DX Chogokin Macross Frontier VFs Renewal Ver. Good stuff. Only need Ozma's VF to complete the Skull Squadron. Hurry with the re-release, Bandai!
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004690.jpeg

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004823.jpeg

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004825.jpeg

S.H.Figuarts Iron Man Mk.VI and War Machine. Small but sleek. Love the paint finish on both (especially, Iron Man).
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004827.jpeg

Who's the big bad-ass here? Why of course it's Metal Build 0 Raiser.
This is gonna take centre stage in my collection. So awesome. Thank you Bandai for deciding to re-release this beast!
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004829.jpeg

Asmodeus. Very very beautiful. From the facial expression to the luscious body, she's the personification of Lust indeed.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005080.jpeg

Closer look:
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004831.jpeg

Hot Toys Iron Man Mk. VII. Not approved for MFC database but it's HT's Iron Man so never mind. Moving on.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005082.jpeg

Lucifer. Very impressed with how she came out. She'll definitely pop when displayed.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005086.jpeg

And just like everyone else copy of Lucifer, the left arm (black one) come 'unattached' in the box. I just hope there won't be any extensive paint transfer on her white waist-wing thingy.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005084.jpeg

Traffy! Love how no-nonsense he looks, just not sure about the 'tan' the painter decide to give him, though. The Surgeon of Death seems to spend all his days sunbathing or something.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005312.jpeg

Laura Bodweig by Alter. I'd just like to say thank you to Hobby Search for the 50% discount. Can't pass up a bargain now.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005314.jpeg

Yagyuu Jubei Hakugin no Kenki ver. from Alter courtesy of Nippon-Yasan. The figure box is literally stuck to the shipping box. Never seen something like this. Usually there's always space and some padding around the figure box. So once again I don't bother trying to take it out.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004682.jpeg

Native's Sasaki-san courtesy of Nippon-Yasan as well. I'll leave her in the box due to her NSFW nature and my parents' apprehension about displaying something of that nature openly.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380004684.jpeg

OK. That concludes Part 1. Still with me, guys? Good, on to the next part.

PART 2

AmiAmi and their trademarked Fragile-sign shipping boxes. Sure makes it easy to identify them among the boxes from the other shops.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005316.jpeg

Unboxed (minus the coffin at the bottom, that's for later):
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005318.jpeg
Damn, that looks messy.
Let me arrange them neatly. There, that's better. :D
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005320.jpeg
Love them all!

Closer look (from Top Left to Bottom Right):
Finally Milla has her partner. Izaya looking smexy.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005439.jpeg

Asuna looking lovely and serene here. Cryska with her melons and awesome rock base. Nendo Miku looking adorable as always.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005441.jpeg

Strike Witches' Hanna showing Alter's quality finish. Alter's Waver looking all shy and shit, Chibi Rider just laughing along.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005443.jpeg

Dem some lovely thighs, Yui-san! Kagura looking severe, think I'm gonna swap it with her happy-go-lucky face. I like my plastics happy.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005445.jpeg

Kongiku and her gravity-defying bosom (Oh, how her poor back must've suffered) :p
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005447.jpeg

Elf.... so regal and elegant.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005877.jpeg

Yui is gonna make a fine set with Cryska thanks to their attachable base.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005879.jpeg

Hacker is one massive dame.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005881.jpeg

Kos-Mos, she knows how to work her curves. Thanks for the re-release, Alter!
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005883.jpeg

Nanoha, bigger than I thought. Love her slightly chubby waist.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380005885.jpeg

The lovely but strangely named Panis with her selling point: Wings.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380006403.jpeg

Onto the coffin then.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380006405.jpeg

It's always nice to open a box to be greeted with a warm smile from a lovely girl. Hello there, Misty!
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380006407.jpeg

Let's open the rest. There're actually only 4 figures + 1 mini Danbo in the box but the presence of Misty necessitates EMS shipping.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380006409.jpeg

Empty shell of a box. Look at all the papers and extra space. Thanks for the extra cost, AmiAmi!

Unboxed:
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/ebchman1380006832.jpeg
Forgot to take closer pics of the loot here but never mind. Psycho Gundam (from Anime-Export) crashing the photo-shoot here.

I'd like to write a bit more about my collecting but I'm gonna step out for a bit to buy dinner so I'll continue then :)

Back from dinner!

All these unboxing had me thinking that I have too much... actually, no, it has been nagging me for a while now.

Used to be different not too long ago. Back then, it was never enough and I couldn't see the end but lately I feel that the more I own, the less I actually have. It was more hoarding rather than collecting.

So, I've made up my mind and decided to put a break on collecting until I can appreciate what I have before adding anymore.

Gotta set my priorities straight.

Anyone else suffers from this kind of burnout in collecting?

Thank you for reading all the way through my ramblings.
Comments are very welcome.

Cheers,
ebchman

Fully agree. However, figure collecting makes it "easier" than before because now there is an incentive to throw way other stuff.

ebchman (4 years ago) #1748639The 'throwing away' part is not an easy process at all, though.

loveanime (4 years ago) #1748087Very true! The good side of this hobby is it forces you to set priorities by throwing out junk that you have been keeping for way to long. Now the decision between keeping or throwing stuff is easier because you know that "if I throw this away then I have space for this more new figure".

wally503 (4 years ago) #1748300First, that's a freaking lot of boxes.
Second, I think I've almost felt the burn you are feeling now. The thing is, I've had an extensive dry spell for figures. I think I got 3 in June, daki pillows in July and nothing in August. So it feels like I've been robbed for a while. I did go to a convention, but I only bought some GSC stuff and it didn't feel like the usual "THAT TIME OF THE MONTH" sort of thing.
You could always buy more and not open for a few months again. After all, there's a good chance the feeling will come at you in very little time. At least buy exclusives if you can. Don't have regrets.

Thanks for the input.
At the rate I'm piling up figures, I'm certain I will have regret in the future. Gotta put a break and ease out on buying as soon as possible before it goes further out of control.

Exclusives are nice but pretty expensive. One of the main reason I've been buying exclusives is because they keep their value (don't drop much in price, sometimes even increases) but trying to sell scaled figures (exclusives or not) here in Australia is more difficult than I first thought.

The market for scaled figure collectors in Australia is pretty small and those that can afford to collect scaled figures would preorder and buy direct from Japanese online shops rather than from fellow collectors (even though I'm selling MISB figures with the same price as the Japanese online shops). It's much much easier to sell figmas, nendos, or smaller collectibles.

The fact that Australia Post charges quite hefty shipping (more so for international delivery rather than local, but still pretty expensive for both) doesn't help if you're trying to sell. A lot of interested buyers from overseas have been put off by the shipping quotes I gave from Australia Post.

ebchman (4 years ago) #1747744I guess if you really want to get something, you'll find a way to accommodate somehow.

Hehehe. Thanks!
There was a point during unboxing that I was thinking the same.

Hmmmm... that's a bit of a problem. Maybe find a container that fits the figure and then carefully wrap the figure in tissues/ other wrapping materials so it doesn't move around (also to prevent paint transfer) before putting them in the container.
