! This review will contain a few pantyshots !

Welcome to my review! Today I will be talking about a figure of Momose Hikaru ENCYCLOPEDIA #5264 from the game Peace@Pieces ENCYCLOPEDIA #638 ! This figure is made by Alter ENCYCLOPEDIA #7619 and shows Hikaru in her Death Cloth Outfit. ITEM #325

I will start off with telling some more about her background.

Background

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/99/Peace_at_Pieces_Coverart.png

Peace@Pieces is an adult dating sim and visual novel for the PC that was released in 2004.

I haven't played the game myself, but from what I have read and heard from people that played it, it's quite a predictable (moe) story, but the cute art makes up for it!

The reason why and how I got her

I have been looking at this figure for a very long time on MFC and in web shops. Still, there was just this weird feeling that made me not buy her for years. During those years I looked up pictures from her quite some times and saw her sold by users and available in web shops for around 4000-6000 yen. She never dropped below the 4000, but I also never saw someone asking way more than 6000 for her. So even after all those years, she didn't really hit bargain bin, but also didn't became rare.

One day I decided I should stop doubting and just buy her! I have been looking at this figure for such a long time, and keep returning to look for pictures and see if web shops had her...so I knew that in the back of my mind I just wanted to own her. Eventually I decided to buy her from another MFC user for around 4500 yen (if I remember correctly).

Since I never played the original game she was from, I bought Hikaru purely based on her looks.

Original art

The game Peace@Pieces was illustrated by Noizi Ito/Itou Noji ENCYCLOPEDIA #8334 , who is most known from her character designs from the series "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu ENCYCLOPEDIA #7 " and "Shakugan no Shana ENCYCLOPEDIA #193 ".

In the original art and in the game, we see Hikaru as the following:

https://c4.wallpaperflare.com/wallpaper/778/244/890/anime-peace-pieces-hikaru-momose-wallpaper-preview.jpg

When we compare, Hikaru looks way more mature in-game than her figure-design. More about that later on.

The Box

https://i.ibb.co/9pj72Gh/IMG-8412.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/zhTv81v/IMG-8413.jpg

Hikaru comes in a box with a huge front and top window, and two small side windows (shaped like wings). The box overall is very pink and has a lot of different patterns. It just screams cute!

First Look

https://i.ibb.co/phCDKvK/IMG-8416.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/7RTzryW/IMG-8417.jpg

Except for her base, Hikaru is one solid piece and that is also the way she was packed. There are no blisters around her face, so you can take a good look at her when she's boxed. The blisters provide enough protection, but there is not much special to mention.

The Figure

https://i.ibb.co/8Dd4Y20/IMG-8422.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/Y8VBHSx/IMG-8423.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/6wFWtLz/IMG-8424.jpg

First impression: What a cutie! Her details also look nice from afar! I was also a bit afraid she would be a bit of a leaner, but she's luckily not!

Looking at all the details!

https://i.ibb.co/w4jqDGs/IMG-8418.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/DYWd3GP/IMG-8420.jpg

Let's first start off with her base. It's transparent pink and the bottom shows some copyrights/disclaimers.

Looking at the size it's just big enough to hold Hikaru, so from that point of view, it is perfect for displaying, since she doesn't take up too much space.

https://i.ibb.co/C6ZgVmb/IMG-8425.jpg

Hikaru's face has a very cute winking expression! The details in her left eye look just the way Noizi originally illustrated them. She has a small nose and a small smile, but they add to her (already overall high) cuteness!

https://i.ibb.co/3cK1qS5/IMG-8426.jpg

The top of her hair has some very nice movement in it. They also did very good with hiding the seam line on the head, since the front piece of hair is a bit higher than the back piece.

https://i.ibb.co/rtcKvxL/IMG-8427.jpg

Hikaru wears her hair in a very typical way. She has 2 small pigtails on top of her head, there are a few layers (which makes it look from the front like she has short hair), but from the back you can see a big ribbon and...

https://i.ibb.co/HphQ7xF/IMG-8428.jpg

...her insanely long hair! I have to say that I love the way her hair looks, it has amazing movement and an style I have never seen before!

The hair itself has quite some detailing, but painting-wise it's the same color pink with no shading at all. Her ribbon is also simple white, but with both, no painting mistakes are to be seen.

https://i.ibb.co/3d6RhBD/IMG-8430.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/jMrQBxn/IMG-8429.jpg

Hikaru wields two guns, of which the first is called "Lies". The text Lies is very readable, but the other text on the gun has been made into small scribbling, since it was too small to detail well on the figure (I think).

There is quite some unclean paint at her hand, where her skin color blends with the grip of the gun, but the sculpting of the gun was done very neatly.

https://i.ibb.co/4Vh0SDZ/IMG-8431.jpg

Her other gun, is called "Truth". Here we see a very different detailing on the gun. Instead of text as a decal put on the gun, the text next to Truth has been sculpted. I looked at pictures from other people owning her, and I see the same at their copies. But looking at original shots, such as: PICTURE #13176 both guns should have the text as a sculpted detail and no text as decals at all! But were does this random decal come from? Mistakes in the end-design of the figure? It seems very unlikely that out of nowhere there was a decal and they just put it on, someone must have designed it...which makes this an even weirder mistake...

https://i.ibb.co/4pWY8Sf/IMG-8432.jpg

Also with Truth, the details were looking good, just as the paint.

https://i.ibb.co/2cYmZ7d/IMG-8433.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/r32B10c/IMG-8434.jpg

Because of her pose, Momose blocks a bit from the front-view of her outfit, but it also makes her squish her breasts together. I think it looks insanely cute, she has a small size and by squishing them like this they look a bit bigger. It also feels like she is teasing a bit with you (just look at her smile combined with it!).

Her clothing has quite a detailed pattern on it, which is a decal put on after the painting of the basic colors. Because of this, the details can look a bit shiny if put in heavy light. Overall, I think it was a good choice to get decals, since the detailing looks very clean!

https://i.ibb.co/r0v1NP9/IMG-8435.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/xSVf5J4/IMG-8436.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/BGrn0hw/IMG-8437.jpg

Hikaru wears a huge coat on top of her regular outfit. This coat has a few, almost invisible seam lines. The nicely put on decals make up for this!

https://i.ibb.co/yWGnnbQ/IMG-8440.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/XVwybvM/IMG-8439.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/bs54t0q/IMG-8438.jpg

She also wears a brown scarf around her neck, ending with golden rings. Again, it's very simple when it comes to painting, but the details are nice.

https://i.ibb.co/mCcxM2r/IMG-8441.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/MCzNHgm/IMG-8442.jpg

Also on her skirt and the tailcoat, nothing to mention. Which can also be a good thing of course!

And now the moment some of you have been waiting for...

https://i.ibb.co/NCcHLCB/IMG-8443.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/TkMGgx7/IMG-8444.jpg

Pantyshots! From here on it looks like plain, white panties, but while I was making these shots, I noticed I could wiggle the figure around a bit at her waist and...

https://i.ibb.co/J2cLnYJ/IMG-8447.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/dbmqvs3/IMG-8448.jpg

BAM! Her skirt can be cast-off! I didn't even know this figure had a castoff function! (The skirt can be removed by popping her upper body from her lower body around the waist.)

Because her outfit in general has a lot of layers and details, I think her cast off looks very nice! It doesn't really feel like something is missing, since the style of her panties also fits the rest of the outfit!

https://i.ibb.co/pnFsGs8/IMG-8445.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/fr0cR8c/IMG-8446.jpg

Now we can also look a bit closer at the details of the panties. It's simple white and a regular size, but there are 2 very cute pink ribbons on them!

The painting of the white was done quite rough (especially at the top and at her inner thighs), but the ribbons were painted perfectly!

https://i.ibb.co/FYHqKzz/IMG-8449.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/M2M9428/IMG-8451.jpg

On her left leg she wears a holder for her gun. It has some small, golden detailing. I looked around Hikaru for quite a long time, but couldn't find a second holster on her...which I think is weird since she wields two guns... (If fans of the game are reading this: is there something like that her guns can be combined into one or something and then put together in the holster? It would explain this choice in design!)

https://i.ibb.co/4KPJ4Qb/IMG-8450.jpg

On her right leg we see her the details of two big buttons on top of her sock. The sock itself was also sculpted loose from the leg, giving the idea her socks are made from quite a thick fabric.

https://i.ibb.co/mBpbVT1/IMG-8452.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/nrZFXKZ/IMG-8453.jpg

Both of her shoes have great details when it comes to buttons and coloring.

https://i.ibb.co/pbh2Qnm/IMG-8454.jpg

https://i.ibb.co/FgJ9BLM/IMG-8455.jpg

I also absolutely love the halo's around her feet. The only downside is that I think they would have been better if they have been painted a bit more yellow, it makes them stand out more and it would also be closer to the original art/design.

If you look very closely from the backside you can see the connecting points for the halo's to her shoes. From the front this is not visible and it really looks like they are floating!

Summary or tl;dr

Positive
- Cuteness all over! How can someone resist?!
- Way more details than expected!
- Unexpected cast-off function!
- Still easy to find for acceptable prices.

Neutral
- She is way more loli/chibi than her original art and designs! Depends on personal taste if you like this or not.
- Very boring base, but the small size is very useful when displaying!
- She can be quite hard to photograph, especially portrait-style, because if you want to take a front close-up of her face, it's almost impossible to avoid an out-of-focus gun or shadow from the gun in her face. (But there are probably also better photographers with special lenses around here that can maybe do it different?)
- Only one holster while she wields two guns...eh? It could be I am missing something that was in the game.

Negative
- Detailing on her guns is not consistent.
- A few mistakes in painting at some parts (especially hands and panties).

The Scores

Sculpting 9/10
Very cute, lots of details!

Painting 8/10
Some let-downs here and there and overall very simple (lack of shading), but nicely done. Make some detailing decals instead of painting was a good idea.

Posing 9/10
I absolutely love her pose. It's very different from other figures and best of all: it's super cute!

Base 6/10
Very simple, not much special to see. Pluspoints for it being small.

Packaging 8/10
Very cute and gives good protection.

Enjoyment 10/10
Especially because I waited so long before buying her and she turned out better than expected, I could not give anything else but a 10/10!

And to finish it!

Here is how she stands in my current collection!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2013/10/01/828204.jpeg

I thought she was a good fit together with Pastel Ink.

For those who read all this way, Thank you! My next review will be a return to my Mecha Musume reviews: ITEM #4714 She is the best from the Toranoana set I have so far, so I can't wait to share the review with you guys! I hope to finish this review in a few weeks!

For the people that like my GK-updates...unfortunately the GK I'm working on right now is going quite bad (maybe she will be my first failed GK)...but even if that happens, I still plan to write a blog about her to share the experience. I'm working on this Marisa GK: ITEM #25814

I hope you enjoyed this review, you could also check my other reviews when interested! Here are a few of my recent ones (the list is too long to completely put here):

VioFitz7 years ago#1785716Hey, this is a very interesting review!! Another nice figure with an interesting detailed review! Overall, she's pretty solid & well made & I don't see any paint bleeds/messy painting/even a faded paints. Well, except for her panty & her guns between weapons. Apparently, the guns and her hands were molded together...
Nice work on this! :D

Thank you very much, I'm also quite happy with how the review turned out! ^^

Her painting is amazingly clean, especially if you look at her age! It agree though, it would have looked way better if the gun and hands were loose pieces and they would be glued together afterwards!

mikki-malu7 years ago#1769993My Sumomo came without the artbook but as far as I know it's a small collection of nice arts. I saw it on ebay (sorry I can't give you the direct link because ebay now doesn't allow me to see the items if the sellers don't ship to my country) but if you search for Nanatsuiro Drops Book you'll find it, it has this picture/700779&... picture on the cover and there are photos of book pages so you can see what's inside :)

I just looked up the book and wow, the prices! o.O There are only 2 on eBay right now, and both ask around $50!!! O.O That's more than what the figure goes for, haha!

The art inside looks veryyyy cute though! :3 No idea if linking to pictures in the eBay-ad works, but: www.auctiva.com...

Do you own her with the artbook by the way? And if yes: Is it worth it? :)

mikki-malu7 years ago#1762259I'd say I got interested in Noisi Ito's art after I saw the figures :) I don't play games and I don't watch a lot of anime, I mostly collect figures because I simply like their looks. These figures have such pretty colors that I wanted to see where they came from :) I also have many Haruhi Suzumiya figures but they feel different to me though designed by her too (haven't seen that show yet either), probably because of different coloring, they're Haruhi figures to me, and these are Noisi Ito figures :) Sounds kinda strange probably how I sort them :D
I don't know Japanese at all, I just copy Japanese names from here and paste them into search window at Mandarake :) Helps find a lot more figures, it's really cool that people who make entries here add Japanese names too. And you can also subscribe to comments at Sumomo page to see when someone posts a link. Mandarake usually sells her without the game and artbook at 2000-3000y average, I only remember like once it was specifically mentioned artbook was included and I wouldn't say it influenced the price.

Hehe, for me with Momose I also choose her because of her looks. To be honest, a lot of visual novels bore me after a while. :O

Yeah, I know what you mean, I have watched Haruhi Suzumiya and own a few figures from the series, but the only way I really see Noizi's style back in that series is when I look at the covers from the light novels (and especially at their eyes).

As far as I know, most of her cutesy art comes from her work for the game-studio Unisonshift that makes visual novels, such as Peace@Pieces.

I'm at the moment subscribed to comments at the figure's page! So I hope she pops up soon on Mandarake again!

Do you own her with the artbook by the way? And if yes: Is it worth it? :)

victorviper7 years ago#1762528Nice review. I hope we'll keep getting a steady stream of reviews of older figures on MFC. They're handy when that obscure old pre-owned item pops up somewhere.
Anyway, looking forward to your review of ME-109!.

Yep, I hope so too! I think because of the populairty of figure collecting (and the growth of the internet in general) these last few years it's become quite easy to find info and pictures of figures, while with a lot of figures from 2009 and lower can be so hard to find good pictures/reviews!

Thanks! I'm writing on that review at the moment, currently still in research-phase. :)

Leo223344557 years ago#1762683Havent played the game but she looks really gorgeous, I remember seeing this figure and thinking how cute she is~ Might consider playing the game ^q^ Such cute character designs~

Yeah, the design and the colors and the cutenes...aaaah! It's just too much! />w<\ If you decide to play the game, could you let me know what you think of it? :O Haven't played it myself (and actually also not planning to, unless someone can prove me it's really worth it to play!).

Conae7 years ago#1763156Oooh haven't heard of this character before but the figure is really cute! I love the colour scheme and her outfit (pretty decals and the wide sleeves are so cute). I just realised this figure is by Alter, they've come a pretty long way over these years but this figure still looks great. :o She matches well with the blue&yellow girl that's kneeling beside her in your display. They could almost pass off as being in the same series!
Thanks again for another great review.

Yeah, compared to Alter's quality nowadays, it's very different! But still, for her age this is amazing quality!

Hehe, nice that you noticed! The kneeling girl next to her is Pastel Ink a design of artist POP: ITEM #3835 When I first saw Momose's figure I also thought it was POP's style! But looking closer especially the eyes are different, but still, they are a good match in my detolf!

And thank you! ^^

aeonblue7 years ago#1763181Nice review! I used to want her some time ago but it's nice to see that if I had purchased her back then I wouldn't have been disappointed. It's a bit of a shame how figure companies don't make random eroge characters anymore because most of them have very pretty or cute designs (particularly the Unison Shift ones) and the QC of companies nowadays are much better than before.

Thank you very much! ^^

That makes me wonder...why did you decide to not get her in the end? :O (I was also doubting this figure for a long time.)

I think that more Unison Shift figures would sell great, especially since there are a lot of Noizi-fans out there! But I guess that especially these last few years figure company's rather make figures of the anime that are popular with the general public at that moment...although sometimes some interesting or unexpected designs pop up (just pre-ordered Calne Ca for example, and I never expected that a figure of Deino's art would be made: ITEM #162402 ), so let's not give up hope! ;)

Kuuga7 years ago#1763765it's a nice review.
too bad...I dont know who is she.
but I like this character. she looks cute and she has a lot details especially on her guns and her skirt

Thank you! :) For me, I also don't know who she is, I know she is from a visual novel, but I don't play (much) visual novels myself.

She is very cute and also had a lot of unexpected details to me!

Rudra7 years ago#1765261Quite detailed review. Thanks for sharing :)
No wonder Alter is well known for quality, even their older figure has nice overall quality. As for translation between art and figure, i prefer the artwork proportion, she's cute nonetheless.
PS: for the gun's shadow in her face while you're taking picture, you can use multiple lighting to minimize the shadow. or use a lightbox.

Thanks! :D

Even in the old days, a good quality could be expected from Alter! :D Myself, I prefer the design of the figure, but even if she was a direct translation from her 2D-design I would have still liked her a lot!

Thanks for the tip! I have also been looking a bit into lightboxes, but the main problem I have is that they are all quite big. I live very small, so I would need a lightbox than can be easily folded/put away. :( So if you know any good brands/types, please let me know! ^^
