Shimakaze NendoroidShimakaze Nendoroid

jennissimojennissimo5 years agoReview
Hello MFC! This is my review for Good Smile Company's Shimakaze Nendoroid from Kantai Collection (aka KanColle).

I ordered her through Nippon-Yasan for 4,400 yen. According to the shipping calculator she was supposed to arrive within 2-3 weeks, but it only took 8 days for her to arrive which was a pleasant surprise!
This review will be quite image-heavy but there are no strictly NSFW pictures. I've only re-sized and slightly edited the pictures in order to keep the colours as accurate as possible.
Hope you'll enjoy my review! Each of the pictures can be viewed in full format if you click on them.

...and bottom.

As you can see the box arrived in good condition, although it's been bent a little inwards to the bottom left of the front but fortunately it didn't leave a wrinkle. It features the standard box design of Nendoroids past nr.300, which is clean and has rounded feautures (the text, windows and dots of colour behind the pictures for example).
There are pictures of Shimakaze on every side of the box to show her off from different angles and poses. There was no sticker of authenticity on the box so I assume that this particular nendoroid doesn't come with one.
The colour scheme seems to be white, light and dark blue and an orange-y shade of red. I, personally, don't adore this combination and would have preferred something like blue and gold (like her clothes).

THE FIGURE ITSELF

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/jennissimo1399825009.png

(Sorry, this picture is pretty dark...)
Here she is with all her parts. She comes with a total of 20 parts, not counting the main figure. She comes with an alternate 'Half Damage' version body with an alternate half damaged bow, an alternate face, 6 of those Rensouhou-chans (the little grey things), some kind weapon that has a separate piece to make it look like it's shooting out missiles, a separate piece to make it seem like one of the Rensouhou-chans is firing, an anchor-like accessory for her hair, and an alternate arm to carry a Rensouhou-chan. Then she also has the standard nendoroid base with the main peg and two other pegs so you can pose Rensouhou-chans as if they're flying.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/jennissimo1399825007.png

She also comes with a sheet of instructions which helps to a certain degree (although I didn't understand how to connect the pegs to the base and then to the body, which some fellow MFC members helped me out with here: blog/14395&...).

Here's she is a little closer. No big flaws as you can see!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/jennissimo1399825173.png

She connects through the base in a not too simple way. First, the main peg is connected to the base. Then, piece Q (I don't know how to describe it but you can scroll up and look at the pictures of the instruction sheet to check which one) is connected to the peg connected to the base. Finally, the missile launcher (?) is connected through piece Q into Shimakaze's back. However, if you don't want to use the missile launcher then there's another way to attach her to the base.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825320.png

This small plastic plug can be used to connect everything, as can be seen above.
Let's check out some more details on this figure!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825322.png

The gold details are nicely painted, as is the black ribbon. The sculptor also took the time to add seams on her top like she has in her design and she also has a belly button (which can't be seen in this picture).

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825324.png

The skirt has some nicely sculpted folds, but the stripes on her thigh highs are a little rough and also have quite visible seamlines that run right down to the bottom of her shoes (that otherwise look very nicely done).

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825427.png

Shimakaze wears a large, cute bow on her head that is executed nicely but has a small paint bleed onto her hair.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/jennissimo1399825433.png

Here she is in her 'Half Damage' version! Her shirt has been torn as has her skirt, thigh highs and thong. This version is well made too, and her face is full of expression.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825435.png

Her bow can be changed into a damaged version too.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825620.png

It might be hard to see but there seems to leftover glue or something on the right side of her thong.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825622.png

There's also a speck of gold paint on her right arm.

Here's the back of the 'Half Damage' version body, fortunately without any more mistakes.

ACCESSORIES

Here are the Rensouhou-chans! At first I didn't care much about these since I'm not really familiar with the Kantai Collection franchise, but now that I saw all their cute expressions I really like them! You can actually change the positions of the taller ones' "arms", which I really didn't expect.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825759.png

Here's the missile launcher thing that she has on her back. As you can see it has a joint on its underside to connect it to the body. A second piece is connected to make it look like it's firing.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825898.png

The same thing can be done with the tall Rensouhou-chan with the red and white ring around it, but with a separate piece of course.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825900.png

She also has a tiny little anchor-like accessory that is attched to her hair. I don't really know if it has any more meaning but it fits nicely with her sailor-themed clothes.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825902.png

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jennissimo1399825904.png

As mentioned earlier in the review, she comes with an extra arm that can hold a Rensouhou-chan.

The Rensouhou-chans attached with the extra pegs. I'm not completely sure if this is actually how they're supposed to be mounted...

OVERALL
Although she has a few flaws, I'm very happy with her overall. I'm normally not that interested in nendoroids but (like so many others) I fell in love with her design, and she really is cute in nendoroid form. In my opinion you don't need to be familiar with the game to enjoy this product. If you're interested in buying her and have the money and means to buy it, then I recommend it! She comes with quite a lot of parts and the paintjob is very nice overall.

Here are some extra pictures I took!

pixiebear (4 years ago) #2340663Would you say she's able to stand on her own? She's adorable, but I hate the nendoroid stands with a passion. :<
