Matoi Ryuuko & Kamui Senketsu 1/8 Scale Figure by Phat Company!
ITEM #167033

PLEASE NOTE: This review is for a figure of Ryuuko wearing Kamui Senketsu - which by it's nature, is mostly NSFW.

This is less a review and more a sharing of information. I apologize for the bad lighting, but I hope the images get the point across! :)

PACKAGING
Ryuuko comes in a matte black box with a nice big window. Some very cool detailing on it - the top has Senketsu's eyes on it! My first impression was that she looked pretty awkward in there - not sure I would have picked her out on a shelf. But the packaging itself is great!

Here she is in her blister, front and back. The decapitation mode scissor blade did seem to rock back and forth in the space allotted for it, but it seemed secure enough not to fall between the cracks.

BASE & EXTRAS:
Ryuuko comes with the following items:
  • Scissor blade
  • Scissor blade (decapitation mode)
  • Alternate hand to hold decapitation mode scissor blade
  • Alternate base part to support her knee

The standard mode scissor blade handle comes off to allow you to put it in her hand. However, I apologize - I was unable to actually get it to fit through her hand so I have no pictures of her with the regular scissor blade. I may just be trying to attach it incorrectly, will try to update post later with pictures of it if possible.

Her base is grey with somewhat geometric looking stones. Much nicer than a plain base and does actually add to the mood of the figure once she's placed on it. The detailing on the rocks does not carry to the sides of the base, so if you display her at eye level or up high, it looks more like a grey blob.

In this picture you can see how the alternate base piece comes in to play. You basically remove the grey piece that's already on the base, and switch it out for the one with the knee support. To be honest, I don't know why they provided this - she is very stable without the knee support.

TURNAROUND WITHOUT SCISSOR BLADE:

Here is a really basic turnaround of her prior to adding the scissor blade. The badass look of her pose carries through, even from behind!

CLOSE UPS:
I'm not one to comment on painting/sculpting - will let the pictures speak for themselves!

POSING & DISPLAY OPTIONS:
There is one big flaw here and that's simply due to the nature of the pose. If you view her from above, most of her body/Senketsu is obscured.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/jimpact1409714160.jpeg
Even if you're viewing her from a slightly upward angle, her face becomes obscured.

Displaying her up high or at eye level seems to be the best option - she looks awesome from both.

Sorry about the finger!

FINAL THOUGHTS:
She's a really badass figure and I'm glad to add her to my collection! I think her quality is great and she looks awesome from many different angles. Definitely dynamic and different from a lot of other figures out there :) My only regret is that I don't like ITEM #198456's pose enough to pair them up.

Thanks for reading, hope this has helped or entertained! :)

I'm impressed with the quality. I have no experience with Phat but I'd been under the impression they were a bit "lower tier."

WHOO! Thanks for this! Even more excited than I was before! Although, since I didn't have my debit card when she went up for pre-order, I had to get her at crunchyroll so who knows when I'll get her;-;
