Figma Kagome Higurashi ReviewFigma Kagome Higurashi Review

Hey MFC, here's a quick little review of the Kagome Higurashi Figma ^.^The Kagome Higurashi Figma was actually my first figure that I had bought that kinda jumpstarted this hobby (I had collected before but it wasn't much..) I actually bought her on eBay, back when I didn't know anything about stores like amiami, mandarake, hlj, etc (gah I wish I had!) I love Inuyasha and am super glad to have her in my growing collection :D

Now onto the review!

The Box (click the photos to enlarge the image):

The box is a really pretty pinkish-purple hue, but other than that it's pretty much the same as most figma boxes (nothing too special).

Accessories:

So these are the accessories Kagome comes with. 10 hands to choose from, 2 bows (I think one of them is more relaxed than the other, like when you're positioning her and she's drawing the bow back), a quiver with 6 arrows and 2 facial expressions. And the iconic figma stand and the convenient plastic bag they provide as well. I was a little bummed out that she only had the bow and arrows as her accessories, but it's still nice. Could you imagine if they had included her enormous yellow backpack?!

Facial Expressions:

This is her happy/neutral face. You may have noticed that this figma doesn't look like the Kagome from the anime; that's because it was made to resemble the manga Kagome, which I think was a nice touch. She's still cute either way (◠‿◠) (Oh look you can see a little bit of her arm joint...)

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/FilledelaLune1412923934.jpeg
Now this is her other facial expression, the angry/irritated/determined one. This is expression I've been posing her with because it makes her look like a badass with her bow.

Poses:
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/FilledelaLune1412924309.jpeg
Pose #1. Kagome has this sort of 'wind-swept' quality about her, like her uniform and hair are magically blowing in some very dramatic wind. I guess it works for dynamic or epic poses, but maybe not so much if you just wanted to pose her a little more... delicately? XD This is the pose that I have her displayed in.

Pose #2.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/FilledelaLune1412924317.jpeg
This pose was especially awkward for her right arm. It was hard to get her to kinda grab an arrow. It caused her arm to go up a little higher than I wanted, and it bent the arrow just a little bit.

The thing with the quiver is that it can sometimes obstruct the peg for the stand located in her back. For the Kagome I got, she can't really stand up on her own two feet by herself (I think they're slightly uneven, but you'd only notice if you wanted to stand her up without the stand)

Pose #3. In the photo the arrows look a little too long for the quiver (or really the quiver was too short for the arrows) You can also clearly see the hinge on her hand, which can be annoying for some people.

Pose #4.

Pose #5. (Her right fist was perfect here!)
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/FilledelaLune1412924493.jpeg
The thing I noticed with the hinges on the hands is that her right fist tends to be loose; like it won't stay in one position and will kinda flop around. That's why it looks like she's about to punch someone in this photo.

Scores:
(Okay let's hope I scored this right...)
For the sculpting I'd rate it about an 8/10. I do like the wind effect of her clothes and hair, and I think it's pretty well done.
Painting was about an 8/10 as well. I didn't notice any major defects, although I'm sure there are some minor paint faults on her.
Posing was a 7/10. I sometimes found it difficult to pose her, but other than that she could be posed for just about anything.
Base was rated at a 5/10 solely because it's just the standard figma base, nothing special.
Packaging was a 7/10, nice colouring, sturdy blister pack, but again nothing too special.
Enjoyment was a 9/10 because I love the series, and also because she was my first figma ^.^

Final Thoughts:

This is my favourite photo from the little photoshoot I had with her.
Personally, I really do love this figure. I know I've said it was my first official figure and first figma, but I do think she was done well. If you're a fan of Inuyasha, or think she's supa cute and want to add her to your collection, then I say go for it! I wish they had made an Inuyasha figma just to accompany her, but alas, he was not made (or imagine if they made a Sesshomaru figma?!?!?!) I hope you all enjoyed my review, and thanks for reading :3

I always love seeing reviews of older figures who don't have many, nice!

Moro (3 years ago) #2394716Seeing those posing difficulties really shows the limitations of the old figma joint system.
Though, she's so expensive now.

She's popped up on AmiAmi a few times for like $23...not bad, honestly. That's how I got mine.

I agree! Comparing her now to some of the newer figmas I have, posing her is not quite a challenge.. but she does have limitations. I'm glad that they've updated the figma joint system ^.^

How did I not realize that this existed? I'll keep an eye out for her even if she was never really my favorite character from Inuyasha.

Thanks for the review!

angardia (3 years ago) #2394281nice review.
i also have her. this is one old figma...
the only thing i dont like about her ( or maybe its some factory mistake)
is that her skirt from the right leg and behind doesnt cover her butt
its like the skirt is too short waaaay short.
even from some point in the front you can see her panties
shirt is too short, skirt is too high places so it doesnt cover the panties.
or maybe its some production mistake

Thanks! :)
Yeah I've noticed that too! I don't think it's a factory/production mistake because her skirt from certain angles does seem a little too short.. Or maybe it's because of that 'wind-swept' thing they did with her clothes and hair, because from some angles it's almost like she is wearing a crop top from when it exposes her midriff lol
