The Mandarake Sniping ToolThe Mandarake Sniping Tool

The Mandarake Sniping Tool v1.2
Windows only

Hi guys! I made a small tool in VBS script and I call it The Mandarake Sniping Tool.

Basically what it does is it let's you type in a keyword and then add it to a list (behind the scenes) and then ask for another one and another one and another one... And when you're done, it opens up a search on each of your keywords directly in your browser! It also opens up one instance of the main Mandarake site with the new additions of the day!

The only way I could get the script to start parsing the generated URL's to the browser was requiring the user to type "go" in the Name field. Once you type "go" your browser will launch and open up Mandarake pages with a small delay between each. :)

I know FigInStock exists but I still do enjoy brewing a cup of coffee and do a regular scouting from time to time. So I made a sniper for myself. *puts on safari hat* Just wanted to share it with you guys. :)

Get it for Chrome here:app.box.com/s/a...
Get it for FireFox here: app.box.com/s/p...

I should mention that it only works for Chrome and FireFox as for now!

Changelog:
v0.1
Initial release.
v1.0
Added FireFox support and fixed auto convert spaces to +'es - you can now use multikeywords.
v1.1
Added support for external list! Open all your searches in just one tap on Enter!- Beta - Kindof flawed, returns invalid Japanese chars in unicode conversion.

v1.2
Fixed unicode conversion in list search! You can now search on ANY character set you'd like, so Japanese is now available..! - I consider this the final release.

How to:
1. Extract .zip into a folder on your PC! Keep "mandalist.txt" in SAME folder as the .exe!!!!
2. If you want to use "mandalist.txt", edit it by following the small explanation inside the file itself. Basically enter searches between commas and add more if you need more searches, make sure you delete EVERYTHING in the file that is NOT searches. - Save the file.
3. Open Mandarake Sniping Tool.
4a. Leave the field with "List" and click Enter! All your searches from "mandalist.txt" should now open!

OR

4b. Start typing in your search keywords!
5a. When done, type "Go" and your searches should open!

Here's the code in case you're wondering what's inside the .exe :)

Final release is out! Regular and List search now works with Japanese character set! I might get back to it if I get any new stuff to add. For now it does what it's supposed to.

Oh yeah, that sucks.. I've tried that once, then again.. I don't do too much buying. I'm rather picky. But my first order were cancelled.. It's a bad feeling when you finally find what you need. :/

gumonshoe (4 years ago) #2693867or you could just use your web browser's pre-existing functionality for less footprint, easier transition, easier maintenance and more flexibility? maybe i'm missing something or not understanding the unique value to this.
1. visit mandarake
2. enter your keyword search
3. bookmark results page(s) in a dedicated bookmark folder
4. repeat as desired
5. click bookmark to query individually OR search all queries at once via right clicking the bookmark folder and clicking 'open all in tabs'
*default sort of search results is descending addition/release date so you can easily filter/recognize the new items you haven't already seen.
you can organize multiple folders to do categorized searches or w/e. you can also remove bookmarks if you no longer want to include them in a search using an interface you're probably already familiar with and not having to run an extra program in the background.

Thank you for your explanation. I do see what you mean. My only quirk with the option you're offering me is that half of the searches crash when you open them all at once from the Bookmarks folder by right clicking them. Mandarake simply responds with "Service unavailable." Hence why this application gives you a small delay in between the tabs and searches are put in place. But thank you, I actually tried doing the bookmarks just now cause I liked your idea, problem was it did just as it did when I did shortcuts on my desktop. Half the searches crash. I think Mandarake perhaps are having a cap on how many packets you can request from them at once. I don't know if this is related to Chrome in anyways.. Or my 80mbit.. Or my Devil's Canyon processor.. Bottom line is, I can't insta open my searches on Mandarake directly from Chrome.

using the code tag here on MFC for your code block will allow the url's to be displayed as text:

Update:
Currently working on supporting Japanese character set in the mandalist.txt, as of now the filesystem tried to open the file and read it into ASCII which does not hold the Japanese char set and I need to find a way for it to convert those letters before they actually get parsed into the array. Right now the outcome of Japanese keywords in the file will result in invalid search instances. But you can still search Japanese directly into the application. I'm looking into it. But I'm at a loss atm. and my labour hasn't payed off so I'll get back to it tonight when I get home.

Docoda (4 years ago) #2690725Was that just for example in the video? Because you'll find a lot more items if you search using the Japanese names.

Yup, didn't want to sit and copy paste from one file to another to insert into the app while filming. It supports japanese characters. I made sure of that just when I finished the search function, haha.
