May & June 2015 HaulMay & June 2015 Haul

Greetings, MFC community!

Things have been quite busy, so I lacked the time to properly document my collecting activities in the past few months. Thankfully, my schedule has cleared up somewhat, so better to get it done now or never, right?

Since this post is long overdue, I will make a combined post for May and June 2015. My unexpected penchant for The IDOLM@STER has made it a main focus in my collection for this and subsequent months.
I never would have imagined liking this series as much as I do (coming from someone who tends towards darker, more serious subject matter as Naoki Urasawa’s and Junji Ito’s manga). After being in much need for more lighthearted entertainment in my life, I decided to exercise an open mind for this series, and am certainly thankful that I did.

Bandai Namco definitely knows how to appeal to its fans with an enormous host of unique goods and collectibles. Never knowing what to expect next, I am finding this endeavor remarkably fun.

May 2015 Loot

A quick overview of May’s box:

To expand upon my IDOLM@STER glass collection, I included two Cospa glasses that I had been wanting for quite some time. There is still one missing from this particular line (Haruka, Yukiho, and Hibiki), so I will still keep an eye out for that one.

One thing I enjoy about the IDOLM@STER items is the quality and aesthetics of their products, and this item is certainly no exception. I acquired this shikishi set after it showed up on Yahoo Auctions. It is nice to see the idols showing a more sophisticated fashion sense. Somehow, the formal wear concept is a pleasant change from the usual costumes they wear.

Although I like 765 Production and the original IDOLM@STER anime the most, I have also taken a look into The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls. Below are the First Animation Set and Vol. 1 in Blu-ray. Since there were detailed artworks included in these sets, I could not resist.

Speaking of artbooks, as a quick aside, these three sets of artbooks for the Nintendo 3DS’s New Love Plus+ made their way into my collection as well. I am not very acquainted with this series (I do not play many video games), but these three sets were well-designed, comprehensive, and visually appealing. Each set comes with a 40-page artbook (“Manaka’s/ Rinko’s/Nene’s Secret”), a binaural CD of voice samples and drama scenes, and a sealed envelope with additional pictures. Though different, I think it adds a nice touch to my library.

And finally for May…this is one item that I greatly anticipated this month. This IDOLM@STER Official Concert Light set appears to be the first version of customized lights used at the anniversary concerts after a transition from disposable glowsticks.

The set includes thirteen different lights for each character (including a pleasant surprise of Kotori Otonashi’s light), a sleek box with the 765 Pro label stamped on the top cover, and a thank-you letter by President Takagi. Although I can only dream of attending a concert, the detail that went into this item definitely caters to fans of the series, making it all the more delightful to collect. It is a nice, personalized touch to the IDOLM@STER series that makes me feel somewhat more invested as a fan…haha.

More IDOLM@STER…

…and more genga illustrations. This time, I was able to acquire the sets for Makoto Kikuchi and Hibiki Ganaha.

Makoto also appears on a cushion that I found:

The back: “Kya pipipipipin… Makko Makorin~”

I also picked up this lovely mirror board, a commemorative birthday piece for Azusa Miura. The sandblasted glass is really beautiful in person – I wish my camera could do it justice.

On another note…I finally seized a Playstation 3 console to play The IDOLM@STER 2nd Vision games! Due to its more leisurely pace, I started with The IDOLM@STER: One for All to become acquainted with the gameplay style. On the plus side, this game also allows me to produce my personal favorite of a trio:

To celebrate, I am certainly having some fun with the new loot (my representative group for the game):
