Intro

Hi guys, how are you all? It's been a while since I wrote a review for anything, at least a year or so, so I decided to write about the latest item to enter my collection: an artbook by a really cool artist, Sidu (しづ) ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡.

So Sidu is an illustrator who's artwork is often featured in a fair few vocaloid music videos, including Tokyo Teddy Bear (by Neru), How-to World Domination (also by Neru) , pretty much over half of the songs for Kagerou Project (by Jin) and a lot of Bibuko's songs, but I'm not familiar with their music. I bought this not only because I like her art, but also cos I'm kagepro trash and I like Neru's PVs. Yup.

Sidu's artworks have a fairly darkish theme that's a little sombre, which I quite like as well, and she's also the one who designed most if not all the characters in Kagepro.

Anyway, I think that's all I know about the artist! Now, on to the actual review of the book and a bit about the place I ordered from! I'm not the greatest photographer, I'm actually too lazy to set up a good light source, and most of it is just pictures with a few commentaries by me here and there, but I hope you'll enjoy it anyway.

Where I ordered

I actually ordered this book from Amazon Japan sometime around last week since something I was waiting on was released, so I could combine the order. This was my first time ordering from them, but I can't really say I like Amazon Japan. The package took two days (Saturday and Sunday to ship to me via DHL, which was a really pleasant surprise but once I received the package, I honestly freaked out a little.

I unconsciously tidied it up a bit before taking this photo whilst taking these photos, but the top was pretty much opened up for anyone to snatch in and take the books. There wasn't even any padding! >=P

Luckily, the books were safe! They were shrink wrapped to a piece of cardboard big enough to fit in snuggly and that was it.
O _ O
Can't say I'm terribly impressed with Amazon's packaging, I wonder how they pack their figures.
I also ordered the second Pandora Hearts, which is also very nice and an anthology comic.

They also charged my card twice so I have a payment that's cleared through and another one prior to that which is still pending, and apparently that is an "authorisation charge" which should be cancelled. I find that really annoying even though I'll get my money back from the pending charge.

Front without cover jacket. The cover jacket is actually just a thick transparent plastic with the title, the orange accents and price + barcode. It's actually really nice, looks like it'd offer a bit more protection than a paper jacket.

We're greeted with this lovely image on the first page. The paper isn't very thick, it's thinner than Huke's BLK, toi8's No.6 Design and Artworks and many of my other books, but still slightly thicker than Redjuice's Ignition.

Yuukei Quartet! Haruka stop eating omg

Since Sidu contributed a fair amount of artwork to Kagerou Project, over half this book is Kagepro related. Not that I'm complaining hur hur.

I wished there wasn't so much blank space in artbooks honestly... Feels like a waste.

Some artwork from the Kagepro PVs!

Some illustrations from the light novels! I think most of these were from the fifth volume.

A lot of the artwork, especially kagepro related ones in here are ones that have been seen before.

I think Sidu really likes Konoha!

Some of the pictures have poor resolution, like they were resized to a larger scale without correcting. I'm not the best photographer, but I think it's more evident at his collar in this picture, I can see pixels.

Some rough sketches/drawings that still look really good anyway. Some artists draw something in one hour and it still looks amazing, no sweat.

Lol see what I meant by dark themes? I'm not familiar with bibuko's music, unfortunately but it looks like she's done a lot of illustrations for his PVs.

Final thoughts and summary

I'm really glad to have finally gotten this, it's really nice and I can flick through Sidu's art whenever I want. I like supporting the artists as well.

I regret nothing! Thanks for reading, I hope this helped anyone if they're still deciding to get this book. Do it.

LovelyIdiot (2 years ago) #4366242You have to search for an item first (in Japanese) and then the category listings will show up where I said it would in your search results page.
Or you could just ctrl + find "AmazonGlobal対象" and it'll show you where it is.

Oh! I found it! Thank you so much! :)

LovelyIdiot (2 years ago) #4346617Ah they have an English site, though I'm not sure how good the translation is but it should be fairly decent! www.amazon.co.j... And only items being sold directly by Amazon will ship internationally.
If you tick the box with "AmazonGlobal対象" at the bottom of the left hand side where the category (カテゴリ in Japanese) listings are they'll narrow down your search to items that do international shipping.

ANIMEKRAZY101 (2 years ago) #3417932OMG thank you for this review! I think this is the first book review i've seen in a long while on MFC, it's usually figures or something else. I was contemplating on whether or not I should get this book. I am a fan of mekaku and artbooks in general, but i'm also running out of space at home and have way too many books as it is. (I don't even have that many manga books, but i'm a bookworm and have a lot of reading books and a good amount of artbooks as well)
Glad to see another fellow artbook fan! =] i hope you do more artbook reviews. I'm always open to talking about artbooks too =]

Ahh you're welcome! Thanks for reading!

Yeah, I know right? I think the last time I saw one was over a year ago xP but it's fair enough, this is primarily a figure collecting site. Still would like moar artbooks tho. I was a little worried no one would want to read about art books on this site, tbh.
As a completely unbiased third party member giving you my humble opinion, it's a very nice book to get even if your bookshelf is full O u O. My copy is actually amongst a stack of books on the floor right now. I'm a huge fan of Kagerou Project, and books in general as well, so naturally I had to get this book. Bookworms unite!

I'm already planning on what books I wanna buy next when I get my next paycheck lol (that new toi8 book looks fantastic!) so I do wanna write more artbook reviews, whether it be of something new or something I already own. If you wanna see more on a book I already own, do let me know, I might write about it!
