Ikea Lightbox SYNAS

Hi there,

sorry if this topic already made his way to mfc, but at my last Ikea Visit I stumbled over the Lightbox SYNAS.

www.ikea.com/de...

Now I wonder, is it available in Ikea's worldwide? Has anyone tried the box? I was thinking about buying one, but they are rather expensive. But they would make a good highlight for a very special figure!

I am aware that they are small and expensive. i wrote this article because I was simply interested what experiences mfc users have made - or if they know Synas at all :)

Just checked my Ikea {the UK one} and those little boxes are listed on there also, so I think you can get them worldwide!
They look cool and I think Nendo's would look awesome in them but they do look too small for any Full Scale figures, they're also quite pricey too so I would think on purchasing them and what you intend to use them for beforehand,
If you wanted to use them for full scale figures then I would advise to look for some other options instead as I don't think that a full scale would fit in the boxes

I almost bought one when I went to ikea last, but decided against it for a few reasons. First is that I just bought 3 Medicom lit cases with spotlights ITEM #171483. Second is they're expensive for what they are. Third is, that once I saw them I felt I didn't think the lighting looked even/high quality enough (it's obvious it's just a LED strip, and I was being harsh on them because I didn't want to spend money on more lit cases after I splurged on the Medicom ones. Do note that the Medicom ones were on clearance so I got them for about $20 more than what the IKEA ones cost).

That being said, they are small, so they'd be good for prize figures, a sitting scale figure, or action figures. You can stack them to make a neat display, or tilt them on their side so that you have a backlit display. The cover seems to fit on well to keep out dust (never underestimate the wonderfulness of no dust!). They are thick and seem sturdy. If I had to redo my collection to spread it out in a few places and rotate it every month, I would reconsider them. Certainly classier, more presentable and less work than throwing figures on a shelf and dusting all the time, good for a minimalist presentation that won't scare people LOL!

I have seen them in norway too, and was thinking about getting one or two to put on these little square LACK shelves for maybe gacha figures. After thinking about it, and calculating, I found that it is probably not worth all the money. They looked nice though, these little lightboxes o:

I bought one costed me €24,99
Only problem I have is that it's fairly small so it's a bit difficult to find what to put in it.
I wanted to put my Deep Sea Miku in it but her base is to big. Crab Calne ca is just to large overall and even my lil Fear's bed is to big to fit in the box in a decent angle at least.
So getting more off topic, I wanted to put in the risers I bought from amiami so that I can put in games or something (was mostlikely gonna put in my digimon stuff) but they're to big for the box XD
Tho really nice and all, I find it a bit small.

Thanks for sharing! I think I'll get some of those soon.

Well ... wait ... I'm rather thinking of building something similar myself. But I think the price is "okay", I'd have to use about 1m of LED Stripes for this, which were about 10€, I think. Also I need about 0,35m² Polycarbonat, which seems to be about 35€/m². (Correct me, if I'm wrong)
I'm thinking about using Plexiglas instead of PC, because is better in quality ... (and more expensive :/)

Oh wow thanks for sharing!! I'm having trouble finding a bookcase I like, but THIS looks waaaay cooler and kinda affordable (idk not really familiar with these kind of things). Looks like you can stack em up too o.o

How did it look up in person? How many figures do you think would fit in 1? :o
