EMS USPS Woes + Toulove Store LootEMS USPS Woes + Toulove Store LootDiary

This originally was going to be a post on my Touken Ranbu loot but I had something else crop up so I guess I'll take this opportunity to vent a little. Sorry, it ended up a bit long, if you just wanna see pictures just scroll down a bit.

I had a package sent from my proxy earlier this month as EMS. I've always had no problems with EMS so I got worried once it starting hitting 1-2 weeks and I haven't heard a peep from the tracking number. I actually called USPS yesterday to try to get some info and after 3 and a half hours (!!!) I got someone on the phone, and they opened up an "inquiry", whatever that means.

So okay, I thought no problem, I'll just wait a few more days for this investigation to finish and have them tell me where the heck is my package, but while I was out today I got a lovely notification from the tracking saying that my package was gonna get returned to the sender!

So I looked at the tracking info and I got on the phone as soon as possible to ask for them to reroute the package. I only had to wait 10 minutes on the phone this time before I got someone, and they were just as confused as I was. She filled out a claim for me but she said that the package was already at the international hub, it probably is going back today and there isn't anything I can do. It's so odd that they take 2+ weeks to try to deliver it to me, but oh! If we gotta send it back, we better do that one ASAP!

Both the customer service employees I got on the phone tried their best so I did not take it out on them and thanked them for their time and for doing what they can, but seriously?? Just how incompetent can USPS be? They raise their prices like 10%~20% and then can't even bother to do what their core services are? Especially for their equivalent of Priority Mail Express International. As the customer service agent also mentioned, they didn't even attempt to deliver the package anywhere at any local post office. I don't even know how they decided to send it off to New York when I'm not on the east coast? I also obtained copies of the original documents from the proxy used for the package and they did not have my address or name or anything wrong, the only possible thing that could have happened is my address got damaged but with all those papers, there must have been one that was readable. (And if the paper was missing, then how could they scan it and return it to the sender?)

So in the end, I guess I'm out 4700 yen for that shipping. Very frustrated with their service and I will definitely be fighting them to at least get that shipping cost back (although I doubt if they will, but for sure I'm going to give them a hard time over this). I'm really glad that this proxy gives all the documentation on dropbox because that was a total lifesaver here!

Anyway, sorry about that. Just really had to get that out of my system. On to more positive events. I had a proxy buy me some items from the Toulove Store in Tokyo and I just got that in today. The stuff was pretty very expensive but I guess it wasn't too bad once I got to see the size of the items. Forgive the grainy/potato pictures, my camera is pretty awful, don't have any fancy DSLR or anything like that.

The proxy sent me the bag it came in, I guess it's nice but, yeah it's just a bag. I'll keep it since it came from so far away. Maybe it's eco-friendly or something.

My first impression is wow, the potedan! keyholders are humongous. Made me feel a little better since they were pretty expensive, but I had to get my trinity of sword boys at least. I think the potedan illustrations are one of the best ones around for Touken Ranbu (my other favorites are es from Kotobukiya and the Toy's Planning/sprocket ones).

Monoyoshi is my husbando favorite sword boy. If he gets a scale or a nendoroid I would be all over that. I probably would even buy a garage kit if there is one out for this wonfes. I wanted to get one of the tapestries of him but I'm not forking 8000 yen for just the original art plastered on it >_<

I'm also a big sucker for stickers so had to get those as well. They also were pretty big, better than the eeveelution ones I got from the JP Pokemon Center earlier last year.

I also got a free Konnosuke stickers for spending too much money there.

I haven't decided where I want to put the stickers and the keychains yet so they are gonna stay in their plastic for now. I'm actually rather behind on getting everything all set up for display, half of my collection is sitting in their display case and the other half are on a bedside table in the process of getting them all moved to their new home on the other side of my room.

Well that's all for now, I guess, thanks for reading if you made it this far.

i don't know why USPS workers would be miserable doing their jobs, they probably get paid better than employees of any other profession if you average out dollar per hr. worked

Having cool union benefits or good wage won't be enough to satisfy some people if they aren't happy with the job. The previous mail man I had was a really cranky guy. I rescheduled a package for the next day because I just missed it by like 15 minutes. Then the next day when he shows up he was like, "well I tried to deliver it yesterday". Well, of course you did, I got the slip and and I wasn't there to sign it so that's why I rescheduled it for today. I miss my old mail lady, she was a bit slow but she was always nice.

Karumi4 years ago#6070516If you paid via EMS, it is insured. USPS must compensate you. Have you filed a claim yet? You can file one online, but since your situation is a bit complicated, over the phone might be better.
Alternatively, if the package returns to your proxy, I believe they have the ability to reject it, in which case it would bounce back over to you (barring anymore errors). This happened to me once before with an EMS package as well, and that ended up being the resolution. Overall, it took two months for that to happen. And when the box finally arrived, it was completely crushed, to the point that they had to put the box in a bag in case the contents fell out. Hopefully this does not happen to you.

I filed a claim when I was on the phone yesterday. I have both an inquiry number and a claim number and apparently they are going to "investigate" and call or mail me within 12 days. I will definitely hunt them down if they don't contact me, which I won't have my hopes high of them being proactive about this.

Thanks for letting me know about your experience. Do I need to tell my proxy to specifically decline receiving the package? I guess I'll ask them if they are willing to do that. Hopefully it makes it here eventually.

They've raised incompetence to an art form. They are incompetence personified; the living deification of all that is incompetent. They are incompetence in it most perfect, distilled form, without a trace or hint of competence or even compassion. They've shot right on through evil itself, far far into dark realms that normal folk dream not of.

Haha, well said.

bourneroyalty4 years ago#6069955"Addressee unknown" is basically USPS's way of saying "we messed up and we're too lazy to solve the problem."
Nice loot though!

Thanks for letting me know. I went and dug their official documentation and that scan is saying that the physical address is correct but the name is wrong. But I never saw this package ever, and it's like 5 states away. And thanks!

Macavy4 years ago#6069999Ironically I just had my first issue with the USPS as well, except with a domestic package I sent to someone. They sent it to the incorrect address. It's not something I can replace easily so I'm super bummed.
Sometimes I wonder what goes on in the background that allows these things to happen, especially when they're this ridiculous. Not even attempting a delivery? Hm. Someone was clearly not doing their job.

I think more than several people must have messed up their jobs for my package to have gotten into that situation. I will definitely be giving whoever is supposed to call me a piece of my mind when they do. Also I'm sorry to hear you are having problems too, hope you can get it back somehow.

Cloudy_Cat4 years ago#6070199Nice Tourabu loot! That Jiji pendant is super slick. And that button looks huge :o
It's insane how the price of a few buttons, key-chains and other misc. items can add up so quickly...

Yes, tell me about it. I thought I was just getting a "few" items, but add domestic JP tax and proxy fees and wow that got expensive fast. >_<

donteatacowman4 years ago#6070331Very cute! I'm so sorry to hear about your package problems! It reminds me of an international package I once had to wait an extra month on--allegedly it was returned to sender, but it turned out that the post office just had it sitting in a back room for weeks without telling anybody. Good luck dealing with them. :(

Thanks, maybe my package is just taking a vacation in New York and will come back...maybe...

take1234 years ago#6070388The people working at USPS look miserable. Any government run organization just looks terribly managed. I'm going to have my packages delivered to my PO Box from now on and I can only dread on the prospect of having to wait at the post office... Better than having the package stolen though if I'm not at home.

I understand it's hard times for USPS when they don't have a lot of funding (lots of government institutions really don't have much. Makes me wonder where all that money is going). Things just move too slow in the government for any good change to get moving without taking 10 years. But that doesn't excuse them for their atrocious service. But yeah, I would definitely rather wait and get my package safely than someone take it. Luckily my local mail man is competent and I live in a relatively nice area so I haven't had that issue yet. It's the random Amazon couriers that scare me, I saw one of them just toss my package at the front door once...
