Banpresto; Nitta Minami & Anastasia GameprizeBanpresto; Nitta Minami & Anastasia Gameprize

It's been a while since I've done a review. This time, I've chosen a pair of Banpresto gameprize figures. Specifically items ITEM #343233 ( Nitta Minami ) and ITEM #343235 ( Anastasia ) from IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Love Laika.

I decided to buy them because I also have ITEM #329180 and ITEM #287684 on order ( Ooops...life has forced me to put them on hold ) which are significantly more expensive. These two little gems I purchased A/B condition from AmiAmi for just over $13 U.S. dollars. I wanted them to complement Phat's more detailed scale variants when they arrive later this year.

Let's get to it. They come in two attractive boxes ( yes, boxes are not always a big deal to people but I do like packaging ). They are very colorful and eye catching. Plenty of detail and photographs of both figures on the exteriors.

One side panel contains complete views of the figures while the other has close ups of their face and close up details of their bare shoulders.

The rear panel contains plenty of information.

The figures themselves come in a tri-fold plastic bag. You can't see due to the quality of my camera but each item ( body, head, base ) is separated within it's own section of the bag itself. The bag has been heat sealed into the divided sections. Also, Anastasia's head was individually bubble wrapped. Also provided in the box was additional heavy cardboard for stiffening and support of the box.

Both the box and the way the figure was packaged rate a 10 in the world of gameprize figures in my opinion.

Lets take a look at the basic figures as pulled from their protective bags.

Doing a quick look, they are very simply designed for the collector and require no instructions. The one drawback as with the majority of gameprize figures is the base. These are plain white discs. They are extremely tall by normal bases for a gameprize standard at roughly 1/2 an inch tall adding an unneeded "chunkyness" to the display. I have to give them a 4 even adjusting for gameprize status.

After a very quick assembly, less than a minute for them both combined, let's take a look at what we have.

Ignoring the bases, they are really nice looking together. It's too bad about those dang bases...If only they had perhaps even made the bases interconnecting so both figures could be much closer together. Well, can't do anything about that.

Time to start looking closer. How about the overall paint? I must admit that they do have some small flaws here and there. They are not expensive scales so don't expect absolute perfection as a goal. Here are some up close details of their faces.

They do have some subtle shading in the hair which is a nice detail. Their eyes are nice and bright for a gameprize figure. Especially Anastasia's. The "jewels" on their hats are not to bad but the paint coverage is not 100 percent perfect. Their necklaces though are better than I expected which is a nice surprise. There is one of the most obvious seam lines present in Anastasia's fluffy collar and it becomes more so as it wraps around the back of her neck. You can see this on the inner edge as well towards her throat. Guess those details can go under sculpting eh? Back to paint. Let's look at other details of their outfits. How about the bead belts?

They are not to badly done. They have a nice metallic sheen and over paint onto the body is not to extensive. There is also another small bonus. On both figures, part of the belts are a separate piece entirely and not just molded in detail as you can see.

A rear look at their hair as a well as a look at the crown of their heads reveal subtle shading again in the hair. It's less prevalent in Nitta's hair though. You can see the seam line atop both their heads...partially covered by their hats.

As we've been looking at them a little bit more in detail, you might have noticed that their outfits essentially are identical. What is nice though, is that the colors are almost in complete reverse. One wearing a light bluish dress, the other a light teal dress, then one with light blue tights and the other with the light teal tights, etc so on. This only adds to the flow between both girls and makes them compliment each other that much more. The paint also consists of some flat, matte and gloss finishes. Their boots are glossy which stands out against most other items on them. The differences between their skin tones also plays into adding depth between them. Overall, as far as my gameprize collection goes, they rate a 9 on painting.

Sculpting overall is pretty well done. There are only a few obvious seams and the ones I normally expect on gameprize figures are not there. I usually find seams on the front or rear of the legs...or the inner or outer arms. Not on these two. Seams are mainly along edges of clothing, on the fluffy collars, on the hat "feather" edging, etc. Some is located where many figures have it, the edge of hair pieces. As a whole though, they are well done for $13 dollars. I can't complain. I give them an 8.

Posing is simple but lovely. I like how they simply go together and both have a pleasant expression. They are neither overly joyed nor overly sad. Just pleasant. I have to say for me they are a 10.

Enjoyment I give them a 10. I simply ignore the bases and look at the figures themselves in this instant. The base is merely there to give them a place to stand. They look good. I would recommend them for those who want them because of the outfits but can't afford Phat's higher priced scale versions. I would also recommend them if you, like me, simply like collecting nice gameprize figures.

They simply do look nice together......

HobbyCentric (2 years ago) #8923777Thank you.
It's always interesting to get a response on my reviews as to how decent, or not, that I did. With all that's been going on in my everyday life I didn't put as much effort into this one as I have in my previous ones unfortunately.

Well to me, as long as the pictures are sharp and there is some accompanying text, I'm satsifed with a review. :) Even if I wouldn't agree with the scores, I think it's nice to read someone's well-thought opinion on some figures. :)

Yavimaya (2 years ago) #8755868while I do prefer Phat's Minami ITEM #329180 I must admit that the Banpresto one has much better colours. they are a lot more distinctive and overall look better. Banpresto's Minami's tights have a really nice purple-ish shade, I really like it. then I look at what Phat did to Minami's tights... what an awful colour (and it blends with her shoes) PICTURE #1485219 in the end I ordered the Phat one because of that really nice dynamic pose but I do think Banpresto did a relaly good job with their Minami and I wouldn't mind getting her too ;v;
overall a very nice review! I was curious how they turned out so thanks for pics :D

You are welcome for the review. I look forward to getting both Phat's versions. It will be interesting to see how they all compare to one another.

I only know the "original" iDOLM@STER girls, so I'm not really familiar with these two, but they certainly look pretty good for cheap prize figures.
