First trip in Japan - LootFirst trip in Japan - Loot

YarrowiaYarrowia2 years agoLoot
This november my girlfriend and I were lucky enough to go on our first trip to Japan. Of course, Akihabara and Nakano Broadway were among the highlights of our trip, and we went there with what we thought was a relatively comfortable budget for buying merch... Until we realized we blew it in a few days days.

But we couldn't be more happy with what we brought back! Here is a first glance:

Some items are slightly NSFW, nothing more explicit than swimsuit or lingerie though.

Mangas: I don't even know why i bought so much of these since i'll only be able to (painfully) read the few of them who have furigana. But i just couldn't resist owning at least one volume of these series that i love but will never be published in French (or series that i don't know but had cute art).

Art books: This was one of the most dangerous temptations. In Europe it's quite hard to find art books, and they're generally really expensive, so when we found entire shops with hundreds of beautiful art books for 2000yens, we just wanted to buy everything...

Straps: every shops was filled with those, they were really cute and funny

Cards: I don't even play those card games (except the Pokemon card game when i was younger), but the design were amazing, and they were really cheap so I ended up buying quite a lot of them.

Dishes: If finding room in our luggage wasn't so difficult, i would have brought much more back. I instantly fell in love with the Shinobu plate!

K-On! merch: We visited the Toyosato school, in which the K-On! anime takes place, and we used that occasion to buy some K-On! related goods:

Card Captor Sakura merch: My girlfriend and I are both huge fans of Card Captor Sakura and we found some really nice merch:

Ghibli merch: We came with a lot of small Ghibli items, and found some fake grass and flowers in a 100yen shop that allowed us to create a nice atmosphere for our Ghibli Detolf:

Towels, tapestries and cushion:

File folders: Another one of those "It doesn't cost much so let's take a dozen" moment that emptied our wallets... But they're both really pretty (especialy the K-On! ones!) and actually useful

Other merch: I'm not the biggest fan of Sword Art Online, but the maid design was great! That Pikachu plushie is the only thing I managed to get after too much money spent in claw machines...

Now, the most important part, since we're on MFC after all: figures! It was a real torture as we wanted to buy everything, but even more than money, space was a real issue. We ended up buying more cheap prize figures than we thought, but at 500yens we couldn't resist.

K-On! Movie Banpresto figures: they might not be the most detailed ones, but i really liked how they looked together as it perfectly embodies the K-On! spirit. It was also relatively cheap

K-On! Banpresto maid figures: also cheap and really cute together!

K-On! SEGA Hirasawa Ui: I wanted a Ui figure for so long, i think it's the first figure i bought in Akihabara!

K-On! Don't Say Lazy figures: Did I mention that I love K-On?
View spoilerHide spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/Yarrowia1482152626.jpeg

One Piece Banpresto figures: I'm usually not a fan of One Piece figures, but they look nice next to each other

Melty de Granite Alter: That's one figure that i wanted for so long... Never played a Shining game but Tony Taka designs are just the best for figures. Unortunately the little ice cream broke when we displayed it, but we'll try to fix it soon
View spoilerHide spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/Yarrowia1482152555.jpeg

Sonia Blanche Alphamax: Tony Taka again!
View spoilerHide spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/Yarrowia1482152715.jpeg

Kirino Petanko:
View spoilerHide spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/Yarrowia1482152630.jpeg

Aladin Banpresto: We bought this to go with the Morgiana figure that should arrive soon
View spoilerHide spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/Yarrowia1482152628.jpeg

Nunnally Banpresto: Really cheap, we might use that one for a Alice-themed shelf
View spoilerHide spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/Yarrowia1482152553.jpeg

Bikini Warriors Valkyrie Alphamax: This is my favourite of all the figures i've bought in Japan, and one of my favourites in our collection as well (NSFW)

Yarrowia (2 years ago) #17021467Yes, I'm from the French-speaking part (Brussels).
The weather was nice in November, around 15°C on average with mostly sunny days (much better than Belgium in November). We did not attend any doujinshi convention, as we were not aware of anything taking place during our trip.

Too bad, it's really an experiencing! They have conventions every month, you can find the info on pixiv. Weather is definitely kinder in Japan, I was shocked.

kin (2 years ago) #17001510Nice post! I see you're from Belgium but the French speaking part? I too went to Japan for 2 months to p much the same areas as you and if it wasn't for my hotel always being so far away I'd bring more with me every trip but alas hahaha. How was the weather in November btw? Did you also attend any doujinshi conventions?

Yarrowia (2 years ago) #16956860Thanks for the correction! It was sold without a box and I rarely buy chibi figures so i just assumed it was a Nendo

Yeah, of all the various chibi/deformed lines they look the most like nendos, but they lack accessories or interchangeable parts and always have that sitting-with-hands-on-the-ground pose.

Dizzy (2 years ago) #16955472Pretty sure what you've got there labelled as a nendoroid is actually the Kirino Petanko (myfigurecollect...), in case you go looking for her to add. ^^

Yarrowia (2 years ago) #16934310Thanks! It's nowhere near impressive as your Oreimo collection though... It's nice to see some love for Kirino!
Aw thank you, my Oreimo collection is always growing though there's plenty of room for stuff I don't have yet and you definitely bought a lot of Oreimo stuff I'd love to have :D
