Selling Figures and Privacy IssuesSelling Figures and Privacy Issues

kiseki94kiseki941 year agoAsk MFC
Has anyone ever had issues with privacy when selling figures online (on MFC or elsewhere?) I'm mainly concerned with sharing my address with others.

I'm aware that addresses and phone numbers are basically public info, but I'm still a bit paranoid.

Have any of you ever had any bad experiences with selling figure or other goods online?

Thanks for sharing!

I use my PO Box address. Box wont have my full first name. The phone is a Google talk voice over IP number. Its all good.

You should be fine to give your name address, I've had no problems and I've bought numerous amount of things of here. The only thing you should be wary of is if they ask you to pay with PayPal friends and family. You could risk it but in all honesty tell anyone who asks for this that you are not willing to risk it and pay via goods and services. that way should anything go wrong with the transaction. Such as the item not arriving or damage etc PayPal will have you covered. :)

Only worry if someone from a distant country asks for your name and address to pick up a figure your selling.

I have no problems with giving out personal info online, as long as I think it is necessary. I've given my address when mailing out or receiving things and have had no issue so far.

Thanks for all the feedback! Hearing about all of your good experiences is helping me feel a little less scared.

10 years buying through eBay, LJ, random people I've met through social media and here on MFC, no privacy issues for me. I think you'll be fine. I think the majority of people selling our kind of stuff just want to sell and if anything happens they'll probably just cause drama through the Internet. I've never given out my phone # to anyone that wasn't a company so no worries about that.

Never had a problem. People here are pretty straight forward and friendly. Once the sale is done it's done and that's it! You can always open a po box if you're not comfortable with ppl knowing your personal address tho (you have the option to put a po box as your address on paypal too).

If you factor in splits and group orders, a good chunk of people in the figure collecting community know my name and address.

Bought and sold on MFC, Facebook, and Ebay, never had a problem with anyone misusing my personal information.

I've been buying and selling things online for about 14 years. Here on MFC, ebay, occasionally tumblr, even livejournal back in the day. I've never had a single issue with privacy or safety or anything like that. I've only ever had 2 memorably bad experiences and it was just because the buyer was just extremely rude, nothing to do with threatening my privacy.

Well it's not like you have to share your address with people at all. If the buyer is local then you can meet up at a coffee shop or something. If you use PayPal then once again no need to give your address out.

I bought 2 figurines from people here and I never even though to ask them for their address. Maybe I am too much of a trusting person.
