Finally, Im in Japan! [Days 6-10]

Japan Trip!

So... here we are again after a couple days rest and me readjusting back to my reality [which I am held against my will] and it is now a FACT that I'm home in Australia where everything ranging from the Sun to the seemingly harmless grass which houses God knows what and is probably out to kill you. Seriously take me back to heaven which I now call Japan.

Anyways, this blog will cover my trip from days 6-10 in which I visited Kyoto and Osaka and it will be relatively shorter than the previous blog since I didn't really do much in Osaka but shop or play Kancolle Arcade at the Namco arcades due to the fact that my last hotel was soooooooooo far away from the main city [and anywhere else really] which made me too lazy to go further than Namba. Wouldn't want this entire blog to be an intro so hajimemashou!

Day 6

So in Day 6 I went for a day trip in Kyoto which really wasn't enough because half a day was wasted due to travel time. Since I had to depart from Kawaguchiko, I needed to go back to Shinjuku to go to Tokyo and then catch the shinkansen to Kyoto. I departed at 7:00 from Kawaguchiko [the earliest bus to Shinjuku] and departed 10:15 in Tokyo which I nearly missed because for some reason I wanted to buy waffles and got there at about 1:30. Im glad I stayed in Arashiyama which was pretty close to the places I wanted to see in Kyoto. So I went to Tenryuji Temple and the Bamboo forest as soon as I could.

It was such a nice and quiet neighbourhood that I wanted to live there.

You can see how both modern and traditional Kyoto can be. They were rental kimonos though.

I really can't explain what Ramune Soda tasted like. I liked it though.

There weren't any anime or maid cafes around so I got some takoyaki instead.

After I stuffed myself with some dangos which I keep forgetting to take a photo of since I just gorge on it, takoyaki and some refreshing ramune, I caught a taxi to the famous Kinkakuji where I may have found the love of my life [not really] butt as we all know:

Focus on anime by the way. Maybe science too.

Anywhale, I saw her, she asked me to take a photo of her we talked for a lil bit then nothing happened [lol]. View spoilerHide spoilerhttp://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f333/shiguree/IMG_0907_zpsloe38gpu.png

On the way home I felt like I was in an anime when I had to stop for the trains. It was awesome. Much like the ending of SPOILER ALERT View spoilerHide spoiler 5 centimetres per second when the guy [I forgot his name] looked back after the trains went past and no one was there. T^T. I thought it was gonna be the same for Kimi no Nawa!

Daifukus were great but nothing beats dangos.

And that was Kyoto for yah. It was sad that I had such a short time on such a beautiful place. I wanted to see the gates but unfortunately I got there a lil too late. :<

Day 7-10

Like I mentioned earlier, during my last 3 days in Osaka I really didn't do much sightseeing but did more shopping mostly because my hotel was REALLY FAR AWAY. It helped me in the long run because I didn't have to haul a heavy bag full of anime crap to the airport on the last day. I did visit Universal Studios Japan though butt TBH I couldn't really enjoy it because of INCREDIBLY LONG LINES. Even with the express pass, It takes about 1-2 hours to get on anything. Still, I liked looking at the attractions doe [mostly highschool girls] [#what] [#I'm not that old I'm only 19].

This was actually day 10 but since the rest of the photos are just going to be random, I posted those first.

I actually got more Konosuba books after I took this photo. Im glad they all have furigana!

That about sums up my entire 1 and 1/2 week in Japan. It was such a great experience especially since I took the trip alone which was big step in me life. If I learned anything about this trip, I'm not really sure because there wasn't anything to learn about. I had a lot of fun, wasted a wholeeee lot of money [waste? pfft Id say it was worth it!!!!] ticked my entire bucket list, achieved my dream of travelling to this wonderful place and you can bet your ass I AM DEFINITELY COMING BACK 10000000%!

If you're planning and/or going on your first ever trip, DONT WORRY! I was alone for this trip and I managed to survive. I gotta say I felt anxious at first but once I got there it was a whole lot better than I imagined it would be. I hope the same goes for you all. I got a few tips though but I'm sure you've done your research:

1.Stand on the LEFT SIDE of the escalators in Tokyo and RIGHT SIDE in Osaka if you're not on a rush. I learned this the hard way.

2.Nearly every place is accessible via trains. Get a Suica card and load it up so u don't have to line up and get tickets or better yet get a JR pass.

3.Don't worry if you can't speak the language. I had basic knowledge but I was too scared or shy to use it but they do try their best to speaka da ingles. Learning a few phrases wont hurt doe. Cash is better as well so u don't have those pesky international charges. Pocket WiFi is also a MUST [trust me I'm glad I rented them] even if your hotel has free WiFi.

Lastly, HAVE FUN AND CHILL YOU WILL NOT REGRET ANY OF IT. I KNOW I DIDN'T!

Some thing totally unrelated butt I just max bonded with my SR Kanan:

Please Kanan. If I get butt fucked by Satan after it would be worth it. #wtf

Ruritto (6 months ago) #18812898Oh we definitely plan to go early (entire reason we skipped staying overnight at Nagano and instead head to Osaka the night before we plan to go to USJ). Did you have to get a timed ticket for the Harry Potter area? And how much was the wand? XD It's one of the things I was planning on buying. Was it just wands of the characters or original wands?
While i'm not as interested in AoT your post actually makes me want to buy the water bottle holder thing. It looks cool-ish. Is it sturdy though?
XD Yeah, we're definitely spending one whole day at USJ, mainly because I'm a Harry Potter nerd, and my friend really likes MonHun which apparently Cool Japan has something for.

Well we are entirely opposite as I wasn't really into in Harry Potter a lot so I didn't get a timed ticket lol. You should probably though. The wands were about 4-5k [I think] and they were only wands of the characters. Main ones like Harry, Ron and Hermione, Snape, DDore, the one whose name shall not be spoken but now that I think about it there were actually lots to choose from nearly every character I think. I got Hermione's wand and gave it to my sister afterwards as a souvenir.

As for the bottle, I got it because I thought it was an entire water bottle but it was just the pouch and the cap. You have to buy the coke or any other drink because that serves as the bottle. I agree it looks cool though.

T-dawg (6 months ago) #18811984Well, I recommend you guys go as early as you can. I think they open at about 10 am [I'm not entirely sure] and an express pass will definitely help you get on rides faster. Expect incredibly long lines too. I went there at about 1:00 and there was soooooooooo many people that I couldn't go on anything without waiting 1-2hrs in line. Maybe go on the attractions that you really want to go on first because that place is like an entire city on its own! They give you a map at the entrance though so would definitely not get lost. Bring A LOT of money because most of the things there are taxed and overpriced. You can claim the tax back though if the items are over 5k yen each. Play along with the people too! It was so much fun I bought a coat from Attack on Titan and did the salute thing with the people working there and others wearing the same and they play along! I bought a wand from the Harry Potter area too and there's tons of places where you can use and swing it around and it light fires on lamps and lots of things I dont want to spoil for ya ;)
Oh yeah allocate an ENTIRE DAY for it. There's lots of things to do and visit! Other than that, ENJOY YOUR TRIP! :D

shroomtea (6 months ago) #18808783How much Japanese do you need to know to read Konosuba?

Well if you know how to read Hiragana and Katakana you would be able to read it since it has Furigana. I know some Kanji but it helps me learn it a little bit more and if I don't understand some phrases I google translate it.

Kinkakuji is a good place to visit, too bad you only had one day to check Kyoto out. Hopefully you had a chance to check out Ota road and the famous neon lights in Namba? Osaka in general an overall nice city with lots of nice people from my experience, don't know about Tokyo though. A week and a half is not enough time to explore.
