Not sure whether to get a replacement or notNot sure whether to get a replacement or not

I recently purchased the Remilia Densetsu figure from AmiAmi. (Link ITEM #179391 )

It was all in great shape, and the box basically came in perfectly new, as described on AmiAmi's page.

Unfortunately when I got the figure, it had something like a gouge or a scratch on one of her arms:

I'd be fine if this was some kind of paint line, but it was a physical defect. So I contacted AmiAmi to see if they could do anything, and surprisingly in the end they offered a replacement, though they said that generally these things would be treated as acceptable for mass production figures.

They kind of hinted, though, that back and forth shipping would be done by the cheapest method possible. Since I'm dealing with another lost package atm, that kind of makes me apprehensive. Plus I'll be on a vacation for the week after this next one, and I feel like I'd be worried about the transit (somewhere in the back of my head). So my question to you folks, I guess, is how much do you think this would ruin the value of the figure if I plan to give it to someone else, and should I jump on the replacement? I need to decide within the next week.

Bruh it took me like a minute to see what you were talking about. You could replace it but that seems like so much effort for such a tiny defect. Of course, if there were more throughout the figure...

Seems like a minor defect to me. If that is the only problem the figure has, I would keep it. You never know if the replacement could have something worse.

Of course the decision is up to you. If it bothers you enough that you think it will distract you, and if others with the same figure don't have that problem, go for a replacement.

That is the silliest, smallest defect to get upset about that I have ever seen...

nyugvo6 (1 year ago) #24883159it's amiami. what you want doesn't matter. they won't replace it or refund you at all.

It says right in the blog post that AmiAmi's already offered to replace it.

If it were me, I think I would keep it.
As many people have said, this is a very small flaw.
It's either so small that it escaped QC... or QC did notice it but did not deem it serious enough to count as a flaw for this manufacturer.
I'm not very familiar with Ques Q so I have no idea what their quality standard is but my point is that even if the shop handles the return costs, you have absolutely no guarantee that the replacement they will send does not sport an equivalent or worse flaw.
Since the damage is not that noticeable unless you're ogling it close, I find it safer to keep this one.

if the defect is something that you can just see from a really close up view (like in your face close up), then I would say keep it. You can also try viewing it from a normal display view range and see if the defect is noticeable. You can of course have it replaced however, as others mentioned, you have no assurance that the replacement won't have a minor (or worse) defect

Wow I didn't expect this to already have posts lol. Thanks for the good vacation wishes... but it's just kind of a standard beach trip to Florida. Just gonna splash around a bit. =P

Ciciely (1 year ago) #24869516I say keep the one you have! It sounds too risky to get a replacement if you ask me and you'd have to spend more on shipping. Enjoy the vaycay and don't stress over such a tiny defect!

Ah, there's something that I really should have mentioned. They're paying for shipping both ways. It's really just about the time and the stress. So far most of you say that you wouldn't detract much value for the defect, though. That's good.

As far as I can tell, there is no issue with scuffs on the wings, though if you peek down under there is one small black spot near her lingerie, on her leg, and the back of one of her legs is kind of shiny. Don't know if that changes things.

it seems incredibly minor to me... i'm surprised they offered a replacement at all. i would just keep it, personally.

Everyone's standards are different, but personally, it's so small that I wouldn't bother with a replacement.
