So no RSAL monitoring now?

CriscokidCriscokid2 months agoAsk MFC
Hello my fellow Canadians! So I have been using the multiple tracking numbers to monitor the progress on my RSAL shipments the past few years. This weekend I was checking on the progress of my RSAL shipments and all came back as there being no record of the tracking number. What? It existed last Friday morning! It existed a month ago, when it was shipped! So I tried tracking numbers of shipments I have recently received, those apparently don't exist either according to the website. So I guess registered mail now is almost useless except for insurance now! I guess its EMS or e-packet from now on for me.

(PS) this is for SAL registered mail (TR# R_ ### ### ### JP), and according to a shop customer service rep - these are not true tracking numbers - just registration numbers. (I still have copy of e-mail for explanation).

Update: Still waiting for my RSAL items to show up! Next week will mark the 2 month mark. Registered mail has become very unreliable!

Yeah I remember reading a blog on this a while back and I think now it's been about 2 years since they stopped tracking them?
Pain in the ass but I don't even want to start because I will rant for five thousand hours

Yeah, I realized it stopped working a while back and ended up just sending the packages to a US address instead. Good luck with your package though !!

Something similar happened to me with an order of mandarake. For some reason when the package arrives your country, your local post changes the international tracking number to a national tracking number. Don't worry. Try to call your local post office and provide them the original tracking number and ask them where is your package.

riringo (2 months ago) #25822727CP stopped tracking RSAL packages a while ago for me (like a year or so now). So I can track the package fine when it's still on foreign land, using the foreign postal service, but as soon as it leaves I'm in the dark.
I asked about this officially at the post office, and they confirmed they were no longer tracking inbound registered mail.
Okeno (2 months ago) #25821619Canada Post hasn't tracked RSAL or RAir for awhile. IT's frustrating. There was a time it would randomly show up on Canada Post's app but that stopped months ago too. They still ask for signatures when it arrives. I'm not sure how it all works if a package is lost for example. I've had PayPal protection and they reimburse immediately because the tracking number does nothing. It's all crazy.

What the OP refers to is some sort of loophole or you could say bug (since technically you should not have RSAL info in the tracking page) in Canada Post tracking which still allows you to somewhat know if RSAL (Registered parcel/mail) is at least moving or updated while in Canada.

What you do, is to put several tracking numbers in the CanPost tracking page, the result will be a table. It won't provide specific information about the actual status of the package, but in the date column, you'll know if the package is moving. If the date is more updated as compared to the most recent update in Japan Post for example, then than means that package is moving or being processed/updated while in Canada. So it least gives you an idea that the package is not stuck somewhere.

So as the OP mentioned, it seems that this bug has been 'fixed' last weekend.

Mekuneko (2 months ago) #25815130 Based on this I recommend contacting your post office or asking the shop again, as having registered mail without tracking kind of makes no sense.

Sadly, for Canadians, there's nothing they can do. Canada Post has just given up scanning any of the barcodes, and ignore Asian post as much as they possibly can.

(In the UK, sometimes they'll assign a UK tracking # as well as the original, but both will work).

Canada Post no longer tracks any international registered inbound mail, that might be the case with your package, if RSAL is considered to be registered mail, they won't bother to track it, it's the same with USPS, last month I sent a package to the US and had that problem too.

PS.: I'm not from Canada.

i actually noticed this today as well, i checked a tracking number that existed like..5 days ago? and it's gone now. same with delivered ones just like you said. Shame that it feels like the only option is the more expensive ones now for some peace of mind ):
