What Should/Can I Do? (Shipping related)What Should/Can I Do? (Shipping related)

First of all, welcome to my first blog post since joining MFC (it only took like a year haha). I'm having a bit of a situation and I don't know whether to be concerned or what I should do.

I've been collecting for over a year now and I've never had issues with any type of shipping, but I'm having my first possible problem at the moment.

I ordered ITEM #512118 from AmiAmi and it shipped on August 30th. September 14th rolls around and two other items ship from them and the same for two other things on the 15th. All of these items were shipped from unregistered SAL Packet (I normally always do registered shipping, but I had lost my job due to my place of employment closing and I have been very tight on money and had to choose the cheapest shipping option).

Now, I live in Florida and we were impacted by Hurricane Irma around the time Victor nendoroid was in shipment. I kept hearing people talk about mail being delayed and such, so I figured it wasn't a huge deal and kept waiting. A package eventually showed up last week, but it was one of the ones that shipped out on Sep. 15th (without the one that shipped the same day). Then today, the other three things showed up, but no Victor nendoroid.

I'm basically concerned because it's been over five weeks and I've never had anything take this long to arrive before. I'm mostly concerned because everything that shipped weeks after it has shown up, but not it and because of the hurricane. I'm really hoping it'll show up in the next couple of days, but I don't know what to do if it doesn't.

AmiAmi can't do anything because the shipping I had to pick doesn't have shipping insurance and I don't even know how to approach my post office to inquire about it since there isn't a tracking number. I'm basically wondering what my options are here, if any ;-; (Also thanks for reading my cluttered, nervous rambling)

EDIT 10/22/17: Thought I would just make another comment that Victor showed up a few days ago on my porch. The shipping box was uh fairly beat up but he was perfectly fine. Thanks so much again for all your comments ^-^

Thank you all so much for your kind comments (I was worried people would think I was dumb for worrying ;-;). I totally understand that packages can sometimes take that long; I was mostly really concerned since the other things I ordered after came first, but I'm sure he got pushed off to the side if there were issues with USPS and Japan Post (Plus the hurricane).

Thank you all again, you guys made me feel a lot better ^-^

MC707 (6 months ago) #26833043From a fellow Florida collector, five weeks is way, wayyy to early to worry. I ordered from Solaris and cheapened out with RSAL once (when 90% of my shipments go EMS). I contacted Solaris on the fifth week, here is what they told me.
Exactly 2 months (8 weeks) after shipping date, ITEM #212685 showed up on my doorstep. You are pretty lucky you get most SAL packages in a month, I've gotten most of mine closer to the second month. So rest easy
rain_drops (6 months ago) #26832814I can definitely understand your concern. If it's of any comfort, I've noticed that SAL shipments to Florida have recently taken anywhere from 5-7 weeks (though it used to average about 3-4 weeks). For comparison, I have a registered SAL parcel which shipped on August 29 which still appears in 'pre-shipment' status via USPS, and was last scanned by Japan Post on August 30. I have confidence that it should reach me in the near future, hopefully within the next week or two. My previous SAL shipment took a little less time from August 17 to September 18.4catdoorman (6 months ago) #26818812Acts of God aka natural disasters have a tendency to tie up packages for an indeterminate amount of time. The possibility that the package is sitting somewhere safe with a for-hire contract freight forwarder on contract with USPS is high. You will eventually get your package. Don't give up hope.Sorafiredemon (6 months ago) #26814489Honestly, I've never lost a package from amiami, but I have had things take up to 3 months to arrive. Pretty sure your package will show up, it will just take a few more weeks then expected.NewfieAnimeNut (6 months ago) #26807567I live in Canada and had a recent order from amiami take about 2 months to get here, which shipped via UnReg SAL. So I wouldn't worry too much, Viktor should be turning up soon :) I'm also waiting for mine which was shipped around a similar time as yours lolCantisama (6 months ago) #26780793I live in Florida as well. My longest SALU shipping was 57 days. Thinking it was lost, I re-ordered the figures on the 56th day, so I ended up with an extra set of them ^^;
Keep waiting. Sometimes shipments take longer than average. Without insurance and tracking, there's nothing you can do about it anyway.
rufusdrumknott (6 months ago) #26778981Yeah it is pretty normal for SAL to take up to 2 months, so even if you contact the post or Amiami, they might tell you to wait a few weeks longer. I've definitely waited that long for SAL packages in the past too. There's nothing strange about the post travelling at different speeds either, just happens sometimes. Hopefully your package will surprise you by appearing at your doorstep soon!dengler9 (6 months ago) #26778259I have a package (SAL registered) dated August 4 that I thought was lost, and just yesterday it's status has been updated, it's now on my country's customs, after two months without any updates. I hope your package is delayed too, not as much as mine of course.Mekuneko (6 months ago) #26776653That's a hard situation, sorry to hear. :< Pretty much the only thing you can do is to contact your post office to report the package as missing. It will take a while but they might even be able to compensate something, but most likely not the full price.
I'm not sure if they need to contact Japan's post, but just try to ask if there is anything they can do.
And about how to contact them, just tell what happened. If you need help with the actual phone numbers or location, hopefully someone from the area reads this.

solarisThank you very much for your email.
Unfortunately we can only start an investigation with the Japanese Post when the 56 Business Days stated for Saver Shipping have passed (April 28).
The tracking will only update as soon as the ship reaches the port of your country.
Again we would like to apologize for the misunderstanding.
So far our experience with Seamail is very good, so we shouldn't worry about your package. :)
In case it gets lost it is still insured.

I wouldn't worry too much. Funnily enough, the UREG SAL that had my Victor in it took 4 weeks to get to me and I'm in a country not currently impacted by natural disasters.

SAL can be weird sometimes. Usually it takes 2 weeks, but sometimes I find myself waiting 4-5 weeks. Some packages arrive before others too. It's frustrating.

I'd recommend contacting your post office about it, but there may not be much they can do if there is no tracking/insurance. Hopefully Victor is just taking his time and turns up soon. :)

Only at the end of this September the problems at JapanPost got resolved for the USA and Europe. Basically the delay could be up to a month extra.
Since you don't have tracking, you can't check the status, but there's quite a big change that the package was just held somewhere and will be shipped to you sooner or later. I would say just wait for now until around mid October and see if it arrives.

Dont worry too much for now.I read that Japan had some issues last month so shippings got delayed and will have an impact for sometime.

Also Sal unregisted is the slowest because from what i have heard they only ship the parcels IF there has been some empty space that was unused so it makes sense to be so slow, though sometimes its kinda quick.

Once i had a parcel delivered in 14 days but most of the times it takes around 4-6 weeks.I had parcels that took 2.5 months and once 3months...

So dont think about it for now.
