Will Nendoroid and Figma bases ever stop being an eyesore?Will Nendoroid and Figma bases ever stop being an eyesore?

Aside from the occasional Nendo base with a design on it (the BRS girls and Spiderman) or a prop they can sit on like Ciel, those new square bases are, I get functional, but so ugly...the circle ones are nicer looking, but then you can't do action poses.

Figma bases are even worse, they're this odd shape with this weird abrasive texture, and I think they look horrible! I love figmas, but their bases are some of the worst and at first I was deterred to get them because of how much I hated their bases.

I wish more companies made bases like Revoltech's, the Queen Blade's ones look really nice (although they really need to work on the whole "holding their own weight" thing). I've also seen some Tiger & Bunny mech figures that have rectangular bases with a nice little design on them to go with the character.

I think it would be nice if figma bases had some kind of color to them (and a less awkward shape), or were more of a neutral tone as opposed to transparent. Then again, maybe it's just because I put my figures on a dark wood bookshelf, so the transparency sticks out like a sore thumb as opposed to darker bases that blend right in, or colored ones that compliment it.

As a fan, do you think figma/nendoroid bases are eyesores?

I don't find the bases to be an eyesore; however, I find that the bases sometimes have problems keeping the nendoroids upright and secure. Then, my poor little nendoroid falls over and becomes an eyesore.

Oooooh yes I know how you feel! I got Madoka and Kyouko figmas but the base and the thing sticking out of their back was so terrible to look at and didn't fit well with the other figures that I'm now trading them with my friend for some trading figures! @___@;;;

I don't really care about the bases, as long as they hold them up. xD I think they're fine and my eyes aren't feeling sore after staring at them.

I do really dislike figma bases. I usually try to just balance them on their feet instead of using the bases. For the purpose they're there for though, they're good. Id rather have the eyesore figma stands than the shitty revoltech stands that don't hold up the figure for longer than 5 minutes.

The square Nendoroid bases, on the other hand, don't bother me as much. Not sure why. But I do definitely prefer the circular ones or ones with a design or something on them. Well, at least they don't use the shitty old ones that could barely even hold anything up.

Oh, I didn't understand why it bothered you so much until you mentioned the dark shelves;;
I have a transparent/white small display case, so they don't annoy me one bit. And even before that, I had my figmas and nendoroids displayed in a dark wooden bookshelf...
I actually hope figma and nendo bases keep on like they are, because they are hardly noticeable in most surfaces; I would hate it if they were colored though, it would be too distracting. Panty and Stocking's nendoroids have pink bases and THEY ARE HORRIBLE. I love pink things, BUT THOSE BASES ARE SO DISTRACING, UGH;; The way most nendo/figma bases are now doesn't really call for attention, and that's why I like them UvU. Maybe it would be best if you placed those figures in a separate transparent or white display :D

I think part of it is what you said the shelving unit you have it on. My sister owns a lot of figmas and when i asked her if they bothered her she looked confused. (Hers are on a white shelf) She said she didn't even notice them. XD I only have one from T&B and at first i thought the base was a little obnoxious but meh. I think the transparent is nice for if you have a white or glass case because then they look like they are being held up by nothing. :)

AnnieAzura (5 years ago) #1065240if you want completely clear nendo bases, ever looked into Max Factory nendos? like my popura, MF nendos comes with the rather compact M shaped base (see my pic picture/468387&...) they also come with the square base, and it's completely clear too picture/472268&...

I like that M-base a lot! It's a lot nicer looking than a big old block of a base to me since it would be more hidden behind the figure. Too bad all the Nendos I want are from GSC.

Nickienator (5 years ago) #1065241I personally prefer bases in general to be as transparent as possible or work as ground or based on the original series, like most BRS figures.

I love what the BRS nendos did with their bases, and I hope the animation versions follow suit since those are the ones I plan to collect.
