Welcome to Pt. II of my post on the 2018 Winter Wonder Festival. Pt I BLOG #39295 was all about getting there while this narrative focuses on the NSFW/Adults Only section of WF and some of the adult GKs, figures, and Figma mods I found interesting.

If tawdry and kooky kinked-up content that only the 18+ area of WF Hall 8 can provide is not your cup of tea… then push the back button on your electronic device and follow your bliss wherever elsewhere it may lead you.

Otherwise, read on for a dive into some of this WF’s randy molded PVC/ABS and resin!

So yes, the far end of Hall 8 is the Adult’s Only section of WF. Having lined up in advance to enter WonFes, once the general line starts moving around the building one is presented with a choice as the WF staff split the group prior to entering Makuhari Messe – take the right lane to enter halls 1-4 or the left lane for halls 5-8.

Hall 1 in WonFes is the largest and host to the big figure manufacturers and their new figure display booths, with halls 2-8 hosting smaller companies, toy/figure and accessory vendors, independent garage kit makers, and a whole bevy of others offering just about any Japanese fandom content imaginable. At the very end of Hall 8 is the Adults Only area and that’s my first stop whenever I have the chance to go to WF.

Fortunately for me, the majority of WF attendees go straight to Hall 1, and for those who join me in the jaunt to Hall 8 their main focus is often the exclusive figures offered by “hentai” companies Q-Six or Okayama Figure Engineering.

This year my first stop was at GK manufacturer Blonde Parrot. BP had several different sets of figure mods available, three of which were for use with Nendoroids and had creative names like “Paizuroid” (from the Japanese “paizuri”) or “Pederoid” for loli fans. I was hoping to pick up a set of all four of their GKs this year but unfortunately missed out on the Figma set as the guy in front of me bought the last one – the smaller companies always seem to make too few product, and BP inevitably sells out within 30-40 minutes of the start of WF.

After BP here are some of the other vendors selling weird and kinky GKs or mods for Figmas:

In the photo above, lower left hand side, I picked up a couple of the pink 丸呑み "Gulpers" for use with Figma lower torso/legs. These, and the "Wall Swallower" GK (below) were some of the more random/bizarre things I found at WF this year.

The other "old is new" Japanese kink on display at this year's WF is 壁尻 "Kabeshiri." First appearing in Edo-era shunga designs, Kabeshiri broke out 21st century style in this kinky GK:

And of course no WF would be complete without a vendor offering tentacles for sale - "I'll take two please."

In addition to browsing random kink and Figma mods, I always make a point to stop off and see old friends at Quarantotto/Angel Philia. Main Creator and Designer Tommy didn't get a booth for Angel Philia in the 18+ area so they had to tamp things down for their location in Hall 6. They were of course able to keep the temperature up with their displays, though, and had some great stuff on offer.

After seeing this beauty (below) I asked Tommy if they'd ever consider doing a zombie Angel Philia doll... "Maybe as a one-off," so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

After chatting with the staff at Angel Philia I looked around at the rest of WF and thought the overall new batch of figures this cycle was pretty good (and kudos to Kaneel for keeping us all appraised of what came out this WF).

In terms of loot, here is most of what I picked up at this winter's WF:

I'll sign off here with a pic of this amazing diorama the group at carve models did at WF (carvemodels.tumblr.com). I hope you enjoyed the read, and Happy Collecting, regardless of whatever moe points grab your fancy.

Bompen (9 months ago) #31358567An interesting read. I've never even heard of WF until I started collecting last year, and this is the first article I've read about it. When you said it was a one-day event, I had to google it. I somehow thought it lasted longer. A weekend at least.
It feels like I see it mentioned all the time on Moeyo. Are there other festivals?
Thanks. There are actually quite a few MFC users that publish articles on WonFes every cycle (it comes twice a year) but it seems I'm in the minority of those that focus on the NSFW GKs and mods and such.
Anyway, there are other events like TreasureFesta and then manufacture-centric events but for figures nothing beats the semi-annual WF.

SerpentyleTorc (9 months ago) #31342290Aw darn. I'll definitely look on YJS, but DIY might have to be the way to go. I'd love to set up a miniature torture dungeon <3Looking at the amount of GKs you have I'd imagine you're pretty handy with DIY. I've made several mini-dungeon sets for different scales of figures for some of my photo pics, but nothing permanent nor that required a lot of effort.

SureFigures (9 months ago) #31342656I have never put together a full GK... You ever get into any model kits?Same for me in terms of GKs. I built models as a young kid but nothing fancy, nor that required a lot of effort. This time, having invested in some decent tools and paint I'm going to put the effort into the couple kits I did get, but work up to it with some practice. The thing is just the amount of time to prep and actually do it. Priorities right?

gundamuk (9 months ago) #31341886Congrats on the great news! Have you put together any GKs recently? On my last Japan trip I invested in some good paint and tools and hope maybe later in the summer or fall I'll have some time to do some of the figures/kits I got. My work pace just isn't providing much slack recently.
I have never put together a full GK, closest thing would be ITEM #655866 which is the same line as those mod kits I am referencing below. I did grab ITEM #231785 from Volks at NYCC but I'm yet to put it together. It does seem like a good starter kit when I find the time for it.

I have been building a fair number of model kits though. Koto has been speaking to me with their Megami Device line and some of the FAGirl line. Being able to build one of these within a day adds to the appeal. You ever get into any model kits?

gundamuk (9 months ago) #31314628Unfortunately I tossed my WF guide and they didn't put a card in the packet so I can't confirm the group that made it, but frankly it was just a couple guys in Hall 6 that were selling them, some chain kits, and some other amateur craft stuff. I think it'd be relatively straight-forward if you're into DIY but it might take a little time. Otherwise I'd suggest checking YJA on 1/3 doll stuff as people occasionally put stuff up for auction.

SureFigures (9 months ago) #31315113 After I left that comment for you, I found Muscuto's page and was surprised to see them taking orders. I was able to get the mod kit for 5000yen and another one for 6000yen. I never expected to get them at cost! Congrats on the great news! Have you put together any GKs recently? gundamuk (9 months ago) #31314985The entry "ticket" is the WF brochure/book that lists all the companies appearing that particular event. If there are circles you know of you can look them up and check them out - otherwise going blind is fine, especially if it's your first time so you get the whole experience. BTW the brochure is all in Japanese so you'll want to go with someone that reads the language or spend some translating it in advance. I'd just go and see what you see, then next time you'll have a better idea of where you'd want to go as the layout doesn't change that much each time. Thank you, I always appreciate your advice.

Yeah, the after-market prices on some of the figures and GKs are spendy - probably 250%+ over for that Muscato GK you were looking at, no? The people that must have snagged those were probably in the 0'dark-thirty line outside Makuhari Messe... Fortunately most of what I was looking for I was able to snag with only a 45 min wait before it opened, but even then a couple things I was looking for sold out.

For whatever reason, the Megami Device line seems to have a lot a popularity in Japan. That aftermarket price is over 800% the price Muscuto offered it. After I left that comment for you, I found Muscuto's page and was surprised to see them taking orders. I was able to get the mod kit for 5000yen and another one for 6000yen. I never expected to get them at cost! I'm very happy right now I didn't win anything on Y!JA but confused why people are paying so much there. Maybe the order page is in response to those prices (as I stole that image from their twitter).

KingsleyKun (9 months ago) #31314780How do you prepare your list of wants before going in? Is there a website/websites you use which provides the new wares expected to be sold? I suspect that if I ever go, it'll be blind with no real expectations of what I can purchase or where to find it.The entry "ticket" is the WF brochure/book that lists all the companies appearing that particular event.
