Booked tickets to Japan this summer...Booked tickets to Japan this summer...

EmeepEmeep6 months agoDiary
So it's finally happening... My boyfriend and I have finally booked tickets to go to Japan together. I'm so incredibly excited that I feel like I will explode. August feels so far away, I wish it'd come sooner!

But to be honest the reason I am so excited isn't only because I am going to Japan, but it's that it will be my VERY FIRST OVERSEA VACATION.

T__T I've seen all the stories and pictures my friends post on their vacations, and while I am more of a homebody, I still wanted to have the option to go if I wanted... Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances, I didn't have that choice until NOW.

I cry for my poor boyfriend who has no idea what is in store for him once I reach Akihabara. He knows I collect figures, but I get super obsessive when it comes to buying things. I can literally spend hours in a bookstore and come out with one book or nothing. I like to comb through everything at least 5x before I am satisfied. I am incredibly cheap so I will probably have a huge memo on my phone with the cost of what figure in what location and start comparing prices like a computer. When the trip arrives, he will understand... and hopefully, he will still love me. :')

Reizumo (6 months ago) #33721908It's my first trip to Japan in June (next month already! I booked it in January)
I'm staying in the Godzilla hotel in Shinjuku (my boyfriend loves Godzilla)
I'm looking forward to visiting Akihabara the most.
I'm just nervous I won't understand the trains and tickets (I've never really used them as transport before...)
I'm still super excited. I hope you have fun!

The train lines are color coated for easier use. Also when you are trying to get on the train to go a specific direction, look for signs pointing to the final destination track station.

EX) if you are on station C you want to go to D, and the Track spans from station A to E. You want to find your track color + the track that says final destination E.

Their system is designed very well for people who don't speak Japanese or know the text. If you need to talk to an attendant be sure to have a visual map of where you want to go, not all of them know enough English to help you without a visual map.

Also the if you accidentally go to the wrong stop, its fine. You can go around and get back on the right train without exiting the station. If you exit the station you are paying for that ride. If you don't exit the station you can just get back on the right train and only pay for the ride you meant to get on in the first place.

Some of this might be hard to explain, but its very easy to understand once you get there.

Good Luck!

Oops accidentally pressed save.

:D They should be fairly easy to use long as you follow signs, though I hear the Japanese ones are more complicated because there are different trains by different companies. Long as you aren't shy about asking for directions, you'll be fine >:3 HAVE A GREAT TIME~

Shamelessotaku (6 months ago) #33697155Umm is it like Japan's summers are really hot are you sure that you can survive in that heat???
I live in Korea and we have similar summers so it's fine. Still terrible but tolerable.

Karclan (6 months ago) #33697159Have a great time! Have you got a checklist of places and things you want to visit when you arrive?
Yup, we decided to make a vague plan and a list of things we might wanna see. We aren't going to follow a strict schedule and mostly go with the flow~~~

Stacycmc (6 months ago) #33697892Hahaaa....congrats on your trip!! Hope you have an awesome time, and that your love stays super strong, LOL...may your boyfriend quickly find a deep love for all things figure and anime so he enjoys the trip as well (particularly the shopping portion :D) or that he will at the very least be willing to endure on your behalf!!! :D
Haha thanks~ he told me he was prepared but... I really don't believe he has any idea what he's in for...

take123 (6 months ago) #33699870If you're going in August you might want to go to the largest event of the year which is Comiket.
It's Friday Aug10 - Sunday Aug 12 at Tokyo Big Sight and admission is free. But do note this is definitely not something for "casuals" and you will have to plan accordingly.
I'll be taking a trip for summer Wonfes and then summer Comiket, can't wait :)

I wish I can go but.. I will only be there from the 1st to the 5th... I wish my boss gave me a longer vacation ㅠㅠ I'm not big on doujinshis but I wish I was there for wonfessss...
