Ancient Artifacts and Rare Relics (March Loot)Ancient Artifacts and Rare Relics (March Loot)

Good evening everyone and behold the latest (procrastination time wise) loot post in the history of MFC! Yes, I got this absolute box of greatness at the beginning of March and 10 weeks later, I'm just getting around to talking about it. Why? One of the items I tried to get via proxy winded up being a German version of an American item that I couldn't find anywhere. Long story short, it was a tremendous PAIN. IN. THE. ASS. to get corrected from all angles. I eventually got what I wanted, it merely took more time and especially more money. Despite this, this Loot Post is one of getting many items below or well below their asking price, so you'll see my notes of about what I paid when it was significant to me.

If you're wondering what series stuff is from prior to reading, here are the Spoilers of the Spoils:

MeiQ Labyrinth of Death
Dungeon Travelers 2-2
Cat Planet Cuties
Steel Angel Kurumi series 1 + 2 + Pure
Busou Shinki Battle Masters 1 + 2
Garden of Sinners

As to the title, I did manage to have quite a spread of collectibles this go around. Some of them were quite hard to find and expensive, while others quite old but nonetheless interesting. In total, you'll see CDs, DVDs, BluRays, Figures, Video Games, Wall Scrolls, Books, Postcards and a Strategy Guide. There are a couple NSFW pictures in here from Steel Angel Kurumi that will be marked as such, so you can easily skip those as you so choose.

The first thing I'll talk about is how this all started to snowball. Last year, Bandai Namco announced they were making a new Girls und Panzer game. Take a look again at the first picture with the Hori Vita case for size reference or about 20-25% of my entire collection here on MFC. Girls und Panzer is my jam, so a February release date meant I had a solid month span to gather anything else I wanted via proxy to save on shipping fees. I had a couple choices of Premium edition bonuses and the best one was likely the one with a wallscroll and DLC, but I opted for a more varied bonus and got the postcard set. That and I've run out of wall space after my Dungeon Traveler obsession...

At this point, I was ACTUALLY playing something else on my Vita by taking a break from Dungeon Travelers 2. A game I wanted to try that also featured cute girls and 1st person dungeon crawling was MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death. I found the LE for just a little over MSRP and decided to see what specials I could find in the depths of Yahoo Auctions. This lead me to find a pair of wallscrolls featuring Estra in a Halloween outfit that is max adorbs and another of (busty) Setia in the rain. Neither cost that much, 1000 + 1900 yen respectively. As an aside, the LE was not part of the loot, but merely for reference.

The next major must have item for me was more Dungeon Traveler goodness. Right around this time, AquaPlus announced a corresponding soundtrack to Dungeon Travelers 2-2. While I haven't played it for more than a half hour at most, still crossing my fingers for a licensing announcement, I still wanted to get the full soundtrack. With the last one costing me... 4-5 times the original asking price, paying just about double for this was an easy decision for me. It features artwork of the new ladies Ruko and Sienna on the front and back respectively.

About now, I was finishing up taxes and excusing myself of whatever I found as long as I found it cheap because I had quite a bit left over just in case I needed to super bid for the DT 2-2 CDs. Low and behold I found some Cat Planet Cuties bonus books from... I honestly don't know. But I liked the artwork and it was only a few hundred yen in asking price. The catgirl (yes catgirl) in the 3rd picture is Ichika and she's awesome.

Seeing as I still had leftover yen to burn, I looked to some other things that made me happy over the years and did a search for Steel Angel Kurumi or Koutetsu Tenshi Kurumi. I scored big. I found the original AND season 2 DVD box sets for only 1500 yen! I never had gotten import DVDs before, but this was both too hard to pass and one of my favorite series period. I also found their figures (minus original Kurumi) for 500 to 1000 yen. Here are some pictures of the DVD cases and artwork, some of which are NSFW. Click the Spoiler to view.

More randomness was entering the spectrum of collectibles at this point and had more searching as a result. I learned they were making a NEW Busou Shinki game for PS4. I was like, wait, when the heck did they make games before? Thus, I found two titles in the series, Battle Masters I + II. Battle Masters II was extensive enough that it had its own expansive strategy guide. The games were 500 and 1000 yen while the book was 700 yen. Tons more saving for me! In the 3rd and 4th pictures, I show what I believe is the playable cast as well as Eukrante who was an enjoyable character from the anime.

The last item I got is the crown glory of this loot post and aptly so. You can easily say this is where some of my tax return went. Originally costing over 55,000 yen and $599 for the Aniplex import, I'm here to show you today, The Garden of Sinners Limited Edition Blu Ray Box Set! I got this immensely impressive set for 40,000 yen, WAY below either initial sale price back in 2011.

It comes in its own custom shipping box with bubble wrap, padding and cardboard inserts. What's inside is gorgeous treasure box bound by a ribbon. Inside that is two felt books, the red one housing artwork for the series while the black contains the 8 movies. Even though it's not mentioned on the package, this DOES have English subtitles! I also believe that this was the only release to have some extra features exclusively on the eighth disc.

All in all, this single item is in its own class. I'm very excited to watch it and I picked up the follow up movies Recalled Out of Summer in anticipation. (That was separate from the loot but added for relevance).

Well guys, that's all the cool stuff I got back in March. I hope you've enjoyed the pictures and the story to go with it. I also hope you've seen something new and interesting. It was procrastination of godly levels to get this done, but I really wanted to share this with all of you for a long time. May your figures be pristine and your packages arrive early. Happy hunting and see you next time!

victorviper (11 days ago) #34257569I liked all the Steel Angel Kurumi loot. That was one of my favorite fluffy fanservice anime back in the day, and I always liked the character designs. I'd like to have some figures of the cast, but alas the only prepainted figures that ever got made were those tiny Yujin ones; it's kind of strange you were able to track down Karinka and Saki, but not Kurumi herself! You'd think that as the lead character, that figure would be much more common.
MeiQ keeps showing up in my Amazon recommendations all the time, as apparently their algorithm has deduced that I like dungeon crawling games and cute anime girls, although the reviews of the game seem mixed. Have you had a chance to start playing the game?

I'm glad you like Steel Angel Kurumi as well. I never hear anyone mention it anymore and it really captured everything I liked about anime at the time. I still highly regard it even today.

Karinka and Saki weren't hard to get at all and Kurumi from Pure was equally as easy. I might track down Kurumi herself shortly if I can find it decently. One figure I that was on my wish list for awhile I found for $93 and only other place was close to $500!

For MeiQ, I would say I've nearly conquered it. Comparing it to Dungeon Travelers for instance, certain aspects are far more streamlined. You can pick up to 3 out of 5 characters, use any combination of Guardian robots and the main character is quite versatile. Girls and mechs can use gems for stat increases while the mechs can equip weapons and armor. At higher levels, combat is quickly handled. In terms of gripes, while the number of dungeons is small, they are quite large in size. Map completion is not saved between playthroughs and you can get more rewards playing through the various difficulties. Granted, I did not take a break when I was playing it feverishly, so doing certain things repeatedly probably just did a wear and tear on my urge to play it. Overall, I did have fun and I would at least give it a shot. If big dungeons is what you prefer, I can wholeheartedly suggest it.
