June 2018: A Prize Figure, Action Figures and a Grail.June 2018: A Prize Figure, Action Figures and a Grail.

It's been a rough week here, a pretty stressful one due to one of my parents health starting to decline rapidly and it's not the usual thing it's getting to where it's serious so it's been stressful since Monday.

Due to that my plans were wrecked so it's been a very trying week plus the heat has been terrible this week being in the upper 90's most of the week with heat indexes nearing 100.

Starting up this month's collecting cycle snagging things that I've been after for a while and another "Grail." for the Action Figure collection so that's been one thing that is helping to keep me Sane this week.

Picked up a awesome piece for the Gi Joe Collection:
The Rolling Thunder

It's a Vehicle Playset that's a Mobile ICBM Launcher and it's super cool plus huge since it's 3 feet long so it will look great sitting next to the Defiant Shuttle Launch Complex.

Been wanting this one for years but never got around to where it was at the top of the To Get List so it was nice to find it at a decent price and 99% Complete with almost all the parts missing one or two so that's the big thing I'm looking forward to getting.

Picked up more Star Trek figures since those are cheap and marked a lot off the list of the main Figure to Get List and snagged some Gi Joe figures too.

Snagged another Major Star Trek item off my To Get List tonight: The Star Trek Classics Original Crew Set so that means almost 95% of my To Get List for this month has been acquired and it all fit within the budget.

Another major item picked up was Graphic Novels for the Gi Joe Series Volumes 16-20 so that took a chunk out of the collecting budget but it was worth it.

Currently only two Anime figures are coming in, decided to get ITEM #440653 since it was cheap and I like how that Prize Figure looks.

ITEM #21984 This was picked up cheap too for just $20 so after picking up things pretty cheap this month it's time to look at some Prize figures or smaller figures over the next few months since those are more appealing to me now than spending over $100+ for a single figure.

Action Figures and Prize Figures continue to get my interest and due to the increasing price not to mention having to find more space to display scaled figures it's better in my opinion to collect Prize figures.

ITEM #546498 Considering picking this Prize figure up next but it'll be nice to find some other Fate series Prize figures to pick up soon.

I love these Prize figures that are anywhere from $20-$30 due to the fact they fit within a smaller budget easier and are easier to find display space for.

After looking at other Prize Figures ITEM #314669 ITEM #199607 gets my attention ITEM #580973 still thinking of getting this Saber too.

May end up picking that Ichiban Kuji Saber up next.

Just glad to have gotten that Grail off my list and it would be nice to pick up a few more things but that stuff took a nice chunk out of the collecting budget so gotta relax a bit.

I still want to get ITEM #13777 so after all of this I'm hoping that this Saber will be picked up early next month.

I could consider that Saber a "Grail." but I feel like the re-release will make this one easier to find so it fell off my "Grail." list and it has fallen off of my Master To Get List for the month due to Gi Joe becoming my main focus.

There are still a few scaled figures I'd love to get but I want more Prize figures.

Prize figures are pretty cool and it feels good to find a nice one at a decent price.

Do you collect Prize figures?

I've been looking at ordering the Taito Mikus I had to pass on and some older Monogatari prize figures. I'm excited about the Halloween Miku and pre-ordered the 2ND Winter one. Also got that Madoka EXQ figure, it's pretty neat and hope they make the other girls. I've come to appreciate prize figures more lately but I still have some scales on order/wishlist too.

i love prize figures. but it's not necessarily about them being prize vs scale to me, i just collect what i like and i love my collection, which involves a lot of prize figures. they were a necessity early in collecting, but now that i can afford more expensive items, i... keep buying them. after owning some more expensive items, i've come to realize that i'm personally not a huge quality junkie type. my few scales are higher quality, sure, but to me it's not a bigger factor than the design and style of the figure, so they still stand equally among the prize figures in my collection (to me).

I bought a total of 3 prize figures when I first started collecting. 1 was an impulse purchase and hated it. (Finally sold it yay) and the 2nd I got I don't care for anymore.

Since the first year of collecting I stopped buying them so I could put that money to better looking figures. Plus I haven't seen any that catch my eye. I almost bought the bnha prize figures but I knew I just wanted them because they're the only ones out there that are close to scales but in reality I don't like how they look.

TyjosAzari (3 months ago) #35693705I think that's the best thing about Prize Figures these days, I'm always amazed when they release one that has amazing quality and when it's at a price so tempting it just feels great to get a great figure for less.
Agreed, the Banpresto figures I have a superior in every way to the Koto Scales I own

CaptainZ (3 months ago) #35693549Yeah, I have to agree, Prize figs are getting better and better and making scales seem less tempting.
This is why I'm not even thinking of PO'ing anymore Scale figures. I'll only buy if they come up for a good price pre-owned

I'm sort of cutting back on the number of prize figures I buy to focus more on higher-end figures in part because my available "open" display space is getting to be at a premium.

For a while, I was collecting all the FuRyu Sonico figures that were made, but then they started making them much smaller in scale. The older ones were 1/7-ish, and some of the newer ones have been more like 1/9, which is just too small IMO to really get any level of detail.

I am still collecting the Sega prize Vocaloid figures, in part because they are large in scale and their quality has really improved. There's also so many of them that I don't feel any compulsion to try to collect them all!
