  • Maakie1 year ago#42265308Thanks! :D Because the stuff is so rare and niche most Baccano! fans appreciate it when I put pictures online from inside the doujins/items etc. I actually don't know much about Dead Mount Death Play except for it's name, I also don't have any friends reading it. It's nice that he is still actively making so much series, but I would like him to continue/finish Baccano! pretty please? LOL. Give it a couple of releases and all Japanese books will be translated and then we'll have to play the waiting game if Baccano! itself will ever see an end. xD
I don’t care how long Baccano! is I will get every volume XD (and anything written by Ryohgo Narita haha)

kishitani1 year ago#41987287Oh! I love your Baccano loot posts! And that’s really recent too! I’m glad the fandom is still alive! I hope Yen Press picks up the series! They seem to like publishing Ryohgo Narita’s series. (They’re already publishing Durarara!! & Baccano! after all) Their most recent license was Dead Mount Death Play by Ryohgo Narita (which I need to read also)

Maakie1 year ago#41780343Quite a bunch of my older blogs have me talking about/mini-reviewing some doujins, here are a few I can think of (and if you have time you can skim through profile/Maakie/... to see if I have missed some xD): BLOG #40486 + BLOG #40389 + BLOG #25997 . It's interesting how sometimes still new fanmaterial gets made, my newest doujinshi from Baccano! is from 2017. :)
Me too, but if there are still no actual translations in ~5 years time I'll probably give up and start reading the fan translations. I also really prefer official ones, but something is better than nothing... Let's hope that good sales of the Baccano! books can trigger them to start trying out translations for Vamp!. I guess it's hard because it doesn't have the fame of also being an animated series...

kishitani1 year ago#41524422I’ll have to keep an eye out for Baccano doujins then~ I need more merch for this series! Yeah I heard of the Vamp! fan translations too but I prefer owning the official physical release, if that ever happens one day...

lotus1 year ago#41664228Ohh I see, I've only read/watched Chrono Crusade, and none of his other works, but a large part of my interest was due to his art haha~
Ah, I've actually read all the current Baccano! light novels already, and I liked them a lot, so I definitely want to pick up the physical releases to support it! Not sure which would be my favorite arc so far, but I'm looking forward to rereading them hehe :D
Once every now and then I do check Archonia, to see what kind of sales they have, but most of the times they don't have a lot of things on sale that I'm interested in, but I'll have to keep a closer eye on their site more for the sales, I guess! I feel like the few small goods I was interested in were still quite pricey there though, I think if I remember correctly maybe 20-30 euros more than the JP price, so I don't see myself preordering things there. And yes, whenever I do place an order there, I try to make a large order to make shipping worth it, since like you said it's a bit on the expensive side for a small order.
Oh wow, that is a long time to wait! I haven't seen a lot of stores with ferry options, but usually the long shipping time puts me off already XD; I haven't had many (pre)orders since SAL was made unavailable since I was abroad for half a year, so I was a little out of touch with merch releases, but I think I'll likely go with Airmail rather than ferry for future purchases since two months is a little too long for me XD; Though I'll probably try to order on Hobby Search from now on since I can still use SAL shipping there (but for NL/FR they call it E-Package lite when shipped).
I rarely check the Aniway forum, but it definitely feels like they've stopped that option in general, but without letting everyone know :\

Well, if you're generally interested in his art, this is also a good buy! :D Only downside is that this book is quite expensive. Even when it was on sale at Archonia, I paid quite a bunch for it. I can't find the invoice right now, but I paid ~40 euros if I remember correcly. At conventions and other webshops I have always seen this book for sale for ~60 euros. So even though I found ~40 euros a bit high, it was already a chunk lower than all those years I've seen it for ~60, so I just bit the bullet this time. :')

Oh! You mean you read all the fantranslations? I find the official translations to be very good. :)

Hrm I see. It's been many years since I pre-ordered at Archonia too. If they do their big prize figures and/or summer/comic book day sales, they tend to make a ton of prize figures inbetween 10 and 20 euros, which is a super neat price, because even if you get them for retail price in JP, shipping those figures to here gets so high, so buying a couple from Archonia for 10-20 each + paying local shipping is a good price.

Yeah, it seems like not much stores do ferry shipping, nowadays I buy most of my goods through proxies and almost every proxy service has ferry shipping available. Thanks for that information on Hobby Search by the way! I wasn't aware they had E-package lite, so that means I can still pick up some goods from their sales if they have anything from series that I like. :D Strange how not much other stores even want try to E-Package Lite, the only other one I know is Nippon-Yasan.

Uhhuh. I wish there would be some definitive news, so that maybe international stores would take us complaining Dutchies more seriously and offer more options for shipping. ^^''

Maakie1 year ago#41360849Thanks! :D It's always nice to find people with similar tastes!
The Moriyama Daisuke artbook is about 50% Chrono Crusade and the other 50% is a mix of his lesser known series and original artwork. I think the artworks are neat, as I really like his style, but I mainly bought it as a Chrono Crusade fan and completionist.
Ohhh~ The light novels are so good! I have to admit the first one isn't really the 'strongest' in the series, as it was originally written as a one-shot with a semi-open end. It becomes good from the 2nd and onwards. Probably the 5th book is my favorite so far, although I also quite like the two-parter 6 and 7 are. I have not started reading 8 yet. :P I also think their release price is a bit steep, but the hardcover was a nice surprise to me too. If I'm going to pay big buck, I prefer to get good quality haha!
I personally only buy from Archonia whenever they have big sales. So the 2 packages from this topic are from their spring sales and the free comic book day sales. Especially their small goods and prize figures are nicely priced during those sales. Their regular prices for scaled figures and prize figures I find them way too high. Their small goods on pre-order/release are OK priced, but then you have the shipping that is not very cheap if you just want 1 or 2 small things. So on average I have about 2-3 packages from Archonia a year with similar purchases as what you saw in this blog. :)
And hrrm, what you notice with affordable shipping on Hobby Search, did they start accepting ferry shipping? Ferry shipping is a slightly bit cheaper, but a lot slower than SAL. I have been asking a lot of stores to please consider ferry shipping, but a lot of them have been answering with 'no'. :P Because ferry shipping is so slow, they are probably afraid of people filing complaints or paypal disputes when they need to wait 2-3 months for their package. I used ferry twice so far and it is indeed crazy slow, one took 2 months 1 week and the other 2 months 2,5 week to get to me. But hey, if I'm not in a hurry, I think it's fine. It's better than paying huge buck for EMS in my opinion.
I'm also really annoyed that it's been almost a year and we still don't have any official statement regarding this whole happening. I'm not sure if you also visit/post on Aniway, but there has been quite some discussion regarding this. A few users there are quite active in bothering PostNL, AirFrance and our customs services, haha! Personally, I think they just decided to quit offering this service (just like how they did in multiple Eastern European countries), but don't want to make an official statement.

Maakie1 year ago#41454703More fans are always welcome! :D I would love to let the club become more active, but unfortunately not much people look into clubs to see what they are up to. So I feel like not much people read my announcements. ^^''
I'm not expecting anything ever again, but if for some reason there would be more Baccano! merch, I would buy everything! I guess the highest chance we have right now is every now and then still a doujin releasing.
There are fan translations and English summaries out there for Vamp!, but I really want a high quality official translation. And of course them binded as books, because even if I were to print the fan translations, it would cost me a fortune. :P

I also link to my blogs with more extensive unboxings/reviews of my Baccano! items there. :)
I'm personally hoping for an official translation of Vamp! next! :D

Raze2 years ago#41232867I don't have a pic of my shirt but this is the one: cospa.co.jp/det.... Maybe the no side stitches are a new thing. Either way, it's still cool. No need to worry about threads breaking as the shirt gets old.
Good to hear the 2DSXL has improvements and isn't just the same 3DS without the 3D feature.

Ooooh, that one looks nice! I don't think I've seen a Cospa shirt related to an European developed franchise before.

Ah, I do have to note, because of the crazy confusing names Nintendo has been giving this handheld, the Pikachu one I have is an 'New2DSXL'. I think there are also 'normal' '2DSXL's, which don't have the improved hardware boost like the 'New' has. One of the reasons why i was not so motivated myself to upgrade my 'old' 3DS was because of this confusement and Nintendo seeming to throw out a new iteration of this device about yearly. >.>

lotus1 year ago#41264198Wow, there's a lot of nice stuff in this post! That Alphonse plush looks really cute and I've seen the Moriyama Daisuke artbook a couple of times while browsing around but never did pick it up -- how are the illustrations inside? I really need to catch up with the Baccano! light novels, I only have the first one so far (which, unfortunately, I haven't had the time yet to read...) but I really want to get the others as well. I was also very pleasantly surprised to see it was a hardcover (what probably partly explains their expensive prices?) and the color pages inside!
I tend to avoid Archonia nowadays since I'm not buying as many manga as before and their merchandise prices are generally very expensive, but I did pick up a set of small figures at the end of last year, which was nice. In regards to SAL shipping, the other day I was actually able to order some figures off Hobby Search with shipping similar to SAL, which was a nice surprise. They have a separate shipping option for the countries for which SAL was stopped (they automatically use that option if you pick SAL), they just shipped my order so I'll see how that goes! I'm hoping more shops will follow their example but it doesn't seem to be very likely, as it's been quite a while now. I wish we could get some clarification on the whole shipping ordeal though :\
